I’ve never handled a Rolex but what I can say is that from a visual standpoint I prefer the Ball. I’m waiting on my fireman racer to arrive and can’t wait.

@@JohnDoe-wz7lw well it was a fantastic piece and I miss it. But I didn’t wear it as much as I would like so I passed it on but the build quality is absolutely stellar. And at this point I have handed multiple Rolex watches. The finishing isn’t up to that standard but then again…it’s a fraction of the cost and I still think the ball is a fantastic value

I think the Ball Fireman Enterprise looks better and it's cheaper!

Ball is a phenomenal brand which doesn't get enough attention. I have three of them. Stunning

Great video. I have the victory with blue dial and I adore it, mine runs at +1s a day which is incredible and it is such a comfortable watch to wear. Regards the clasp yes push release would be better but it does loosen up a bit and/or you get use to the angle to flick it apart. I think Ball is definitely an underrated brand but seems to be starting to turn people's heads a bit.

Great comparison and review. I think Tim Mosso said he really rates Ball bracelets. The dial texture on the Ball is gorgeous.

Brilliant review and the editing is spot on 👌🏽 The website doesn't show the dial like this, it looks very metallic in the pictures. Glad you made this video as there is none of this model! Love the Ball Watches, love it's history and the quality is definitely on par with the higher tier brands. Such a shame they are so under the radar! They only have themselves to blame with it's non existent terrible marketing

Had a Rolex submariner with the Cyclops but no more or ever again. I now own 4 Ball watches and am much happier. Update:Just purchased my 5th Ball watch, the Fireman Enterprise in black.

I think an Oyster Perpetual and an Engineer III would be a great comparison.

It took me awhile to pay attention to Ball. To be honest its a watch for a matured connoisseur. Much of their designs are understated and the beauty is in the refined craftsmanship. Ive got my eyes locked on a Trainmaster Railroad (subdial seconds).

Ball needs to do a rose gold version, I'm lookin at those hands and catching a glimpse of your lighting. Just thinking about it. It would be awesome

I own the blue dial version of this watch. It is an outstanding piece. The clasp is the one issue I have with the watch. It was easily resolved by going to a local watchmaker to install a double pusher clasp. The Ball clasp is a thumb buster and was ruining the watch for me.

I wish that going to 'a local watchmaker' was as easy in the central belt of Scotland as it sounds in American comments, all the time. Anywhere between Glasgow or Edinburgh, or as north as Fife, I wouldn't mind. I have a Seiko and Christopher Ward that I suspect might be magnetised, a Hydroconquest that is long overdue a service and this clasp replacement idea sounds great. All I could find on Google was an old guy's run-down shop in Edinburgh, with reviews saying there are watch bits strewn everywhere, it's generally filthy, he keeps losing people's watches and, either, fobbing them off that he's waiting for parts for up to 6 months or just having to fess up that he's lost it. On top of that he's really rude to customers who come in and interrupt him when he's working on something, haha. Poor old git. I don't want to hand my watches in to a jeweller's shop and have them mail them off to somebody. I want a 'my local watchmaker' or just a 'my watchmaker', like you guys. Waaah! 😭

Good review. I think a better comparison would be with a ball engineer 2 marvelight. I have the same bracelet as the victory on a ball fireman racer. I got used to the clasp release very quickly and it becomes a non problem within a day or so.

I love my Ball Fireman Enterprise! The white dial is silvery, and gorgeous!

Really really polished presentation. Dont like the date window on the Ball, agree with you that it would be so much better as a no date watch. Keep up the great work!

The Ball clasp operation is not the greatest, but I do like not having a chunky clasp. The bracelet feels good when worn.

The right comparison was between Ball and Omega Aqua Terra

I ended up at this video through instagram and I definitely don't regret it. What an excellent review! Ball has been my first luxury watch and they offer amazing value for money. This particular watch would be a lot nicer if it had a no date variant as well. I also really like the ball engineer marvellight in white. Do you have any other alternatives to the Oyster Perpetual and with the white dial specifically? It just looks so damn clean.

I think we have to venture into Microbrands, Astor Banks has a clean looking white dial and so does Monta. Other than that, there arent really many others outside of a Grand Seiko SBGR099. Couldnt agree with you more!

@@perpetuality I love the case and dial of the Marvelight but the bracelet doesn't appeal to me as much with the big shining surfaces. I might actually end up ordering this Ball as a result of this video. This is reference NM2098C-S5J-SL right? I think technically it's a silver dial, but it appears white in real life.

That Ball dial is not white. The white date wheel makes that clear

Yes it’s not stark white like the date wheel. It’s more of a cool off white.

You fail to mention the difference between tritium and regular lume. It "lasts a long time." Yeah, it has a half life of 12.32 years. How long does the Rolex lume last, an hour? Tritium (see the T25 on the dial) is a radio active isotope. It may be dimmer than lume that has just been exposed to a bright light, but it is self-powered. It glows for years without exposure to any light.

I wish the crown of the Ball was a bit smaller

I think the slender lugs and case make the crown appear much smaller than it is. It would help on the design point to have a smaller crown to tie it all together

date at 430 is an abomination....other than that I prefer the Ball

The clasp on the ball would put me off.

Not a fan of the butterfly clasp either despite it having some advantages of being centred on the wrist. A simple fold over clasp would really elevate this watch

I have the same clasp on a ball fireman racer. Trust me it’s a non issue and very easy to operate within a day or so of owning.

You might be missing the point of this video. It's that the OP39 white is discontinued and there are few watches that have that crisp white dial. The Ball is one option for only 1k that is reminiscent of the white dial of the OP39..though not exact. With exceptional case work and dial details. Is that not a win for some people? Anyway thanks for watching

@@CosmysteryOf course price matters, I never said it didn't, it has to account for something- in this case- the movement, the white gold indices and the brand power. All this I mentioned in the video- for those who can't and won't pay the ridiculous secondary market reseller's mark up, the Ball is a great budget option.However PRICE shouldn't be the only factor in deciding on a watch- some want the look and feel but can't even get a Rolex, so there is the point of video- to bring up one possible option. Anyway too much time spent here with semantics- back to enjoying watches
