I disagree. The point of this show is to disagree, respectfully. And I think its in the right of the sex workers, being a misunderstood minority, to be a little sassy. Compared to some other episodes of Middle Ground(Satanists, or Trump supporters for example), I honestly think that what we saw here were genuine reactions to eachothers points of view, instead of one side pushing their opinions on others or being manipulative. This is just my perception, and it's totally cool if you don't think the same.

I find it really ironic how strong of a stance that the sex workers took on the topic of cheating, considering how many married/committed men or women paid them for sex. My long term boyfriend whom I thought was perfect was one of those people. I thought he was truly perfect for me and I never would have seen it coming. Turns out he was cheating on me with prostitutes the entire time we were together. It destroyed my self esteem, and it was two years before I even began to feel better about myself through counselling and therapy.

Rae Navin I know that’s why I said I like the analogy. People can get addicted to drinking but most don’t. Almost all adults drink alcohol at some point or another. But the vast majority aren’t addicted. Just like porn. Most people watch it. Some people get addicted. Most people don’t.

It’s not realistic of most sexual encounters & is often very exploitative. Most women don’t want to be with guy after guy on camera and be physically injured. It can send the wrong message to impressionable youth who are inexperienced. If this is their main sexual exposure it might send the message that this is normal and they should accept it even if they don’t want to. There are even “rape fantasy”, incestuous (where the “performers” act as though they’re related), and some where while it’s not pedophilic it’s made to look like at least some of the performers are too young (usually by choosing actors with a younger/less mature physique and having them dress young). I’m not necessarily saying ban porn or anything but admitting that the industry can be exploitative and damaging. Another concern is that since it’s highly unregulated there’s no way for the viewer to know if anyone in the video is being forced to do it, especially “amateur” videos and ones from countries with little to no government oversight. Most major US companies have at least some oversight to protect the workers but this might not be the case in say Mexico which has a lot of government corruption

That's definitely not how it works, and some guys even belive it and are surprised when their gf doesn't orgasm from penetration. Only about 20% of women can orgasm from penetration alone. And that's just an example.

I think the problem here is that pastors don't underestimate or talk down to sex workers (which they shouldn't) but the sex workers seem to look down on pastors. And that's super fun. But that mindset blows up opinions a lot while the pastors are very conservative, modest people. They are taught to respect in that way more than the others have because they feel they have been more oppressed

@Cog Gear that's not the only reason at all. Both the church and a considerable number of priests have done some bad, bad things over the years. Some not too long long ago. Besides that, people outgrew religion because we have a much broader and scientific understanding of the world. There's no reason to believe in a God if not for therapeutic reasons. That's why I appreciate things like Buddhism a lot, it's more of a spiritual way of life than something based on blind faith.

@Cog Gear Well, everything you say can, is or either will be explained by science -except the existance of spirit and sould, which is debatle for its very nature. I'm not saying there's no God, I'm just saying I don't believe in one. I'd rather trust someone who's giving us answers and making things work (like the very internet we are using to have this conversation) than some old book that tells us things are the way they are just because it works like that. I simply don't know if there's a God, but looking at this world it sure doesn't feel like it. There's too much bad, and not just amongst people.

Yes, they were being attacked but they were being attacked from a place of ignorance. The only respectful sex worker was the guy. And the only true pastor was the bald guy. Hes a man that kept saying again, you can disagree with me and my standard, but this is the standard I've chosen to live by. Referring to the bible. Meaning, it's not about opinions, it's not about what feels good, it's not about being right or nice in societies eyes, it's that he has simply chosen to live his life according to the bible. And the bible is pretty clear in this specific subject. They all looked so happy to be there, honestly. And I LOVED that the lady pastor said when she was giving her opinion about the soul ties that it was just her opinion based on humanity and nothing to do with the bible. They were honestly pretty great pastors. Pastors that say it's not about what you think, but ground your faith in the bible so you dont have to question. All without sounding condescending(which I hope I'm not but probably am)

So I think to them, it's like meeting someone who's never traveled. Traveling is fun, and great, and you get a lot of good experiences, but not everyone wants to travel, and they're fine with the life that they have in that one town. I think that it's totally fair to poke fun a little bit for someone not wanting to travel and have these different experiences. I'm guessing that these folks would personally feel imprisoned if they were told that they would never be allowed to travel and see the world, and experience all of the interesting things that come from that. Its understandable that they're ribbing him a little for not having experienced hardly anything since they veiw it as beautiful and eye opening. I say this as someone who has never had a romantic/sexual relationship: I think that everyone should have the freedom to have as many sexual encounters as they consent to. I totally would want to have sexual encounters, but I haven't had an opportunity yet. Folks who choose to only have one partner is fair game for good-natured ribbing, folks who choose to have many partners can also have a good-natured ribbing. (So long as you aren't trying to shame them)

this video was weird for me, because even though I'm an atheist and don't believe in god, the bald pastor was just right. I don't know, i expected the sex workers to be more mature and understanding but they really didn't care

Ever think that people are sick of being treated badly by self-righteous hypocrates (not talking about the people in this video, they were lovely), so they develop a gut-reaction of standing their ground and defending who they are and what they do with more passion than someone that has never been subjugated for their sex life, job and views beyond being called a "prude"? This whole debate was going pretty well, actually. The comparison between the two groups is in presentation and the way they express their feelings on the matter can differenciete because of their experiences. A sex worker will be more outspoken and have a more powerful presence than a spiritual person that is usually more mick and short-spoken on topics like this.

Porn is not sex education. Lotus was so unbelievably rude and disrespectful and I think the pastor should have called her out for it. Just because they disagree doesn't give her the right to be condescending and nasty and make cruel jokes. The conversation should be respectful. I feel like she is acting that way because she fundamentally doesn't agree with her lifestyle or she has a lot of shame and is over compensating.
