I did it just on a whim with the UTV and didn't think it would stay on long. I think I have 60miles of dirt/gravel road on it now and it's still holding on.

Wow this brings back some fond memories. Tampa Cord Rubber Safety Products - Back in the 1950's my father invented a door mat made from cord rubber car tires. They would last a lifetime and easily removed the sandy soil from your shoes prior to entering your home. He had a custom machine made to cut the wire beads out of the tires and another custom machine to cut both sidewalls and the tread area into one continous piece. He also had a old Rockwell drill press that had a custom made fixture that held 6 drill heads that were chain driven. He used leather hole stamping punches in the drill heads to drill the holes in the cord rubber strips in a given pattern. Once the holes were drilled he could cut the ends to size depending on the size of door mat we were making. He even made some horse trailer mats which would also last a lifetime. He also made the first dock bumpers that you see today that are made from truck tires. On some tires he would buff the tread off which made rubber dust. He would wire the two opossing tire beads together and mix concrete and rubber dust together to make steeping stones. Basically, my father was BIG into recycling. If he were alive today he would have been a HERO for making a GREEN planet. Taking some of the hardest items to recycle and making really usefull products from them. One time he even made me a pair of soles for my shoes from the tread section of the tires. Of course, others copied his idea and made sandels from them. Thanks again for the memories!!!

Thanks I bought a bottle of PR100 after watching your last video about the adhesive, to repair an impossible to get weatherstrip. It works great, stays flexible and holds better than anything else I tried.

Same brand as your scissors, but a good sharpened pair of vintage forged (#9, A-10, or 12") Wiss tin snips works really well for thick rubber and leather. I keep a pair tuned up just for jobs like that.

Next Project make some punches like for leather so you can stamp out diamond shapes etc....

Brilliant!!! DIY retreads. The body of the tire is good. It is only the rubber that has worn away. And you show us how to do it. Good job!

There were a few impressive things in this video. The resourcefulness that you poses when it comes to getting your money's worth out of something. I never would have thought to repurpose old tires for this. The glue was very impressive in it's strength and it's price to performance. Even the dog was impressive in how well he rode with you and followed you 😂

I think I did bearings in the jackshaft when I first got it. I have owned a lot of gokarts but this one stuck around as it was so much fun for me and kids.

Another amazing idea, that no one else seems to have thought of.

More, I’ve had great success cutting sidewall rubber to make 65Ford bungee straps with an oscillating multi tool.

They also make a gap-filling PR gel. It's your basic cyanoacrylate adhesive that cures with moisture. That demonstration is excellent. Brings a whole new meaning to Yerf Dog with the pup riding!

This was a lot of fun. Since this stuff stays flexible, I might try it on a self-inflating camping pad I have. Nice and thick, great for old hips and back like mine, but I scratched the bottom and there is one particular spot that I cannot get to hold a seal. I have tried everything else, they not this? Thanks for your videos, Moe. Not sure anyone else out there is gluing new tire treads.

Nice! I've seen where decades back retreading tires was more a thing. Even true'ing tires when there's cupping so don't have to deal with the noise, i.e. assuming repairs or adjustments have been made that caused the cupping. Wondering how long will hold up without the pressure vessel or heated press like machines? Seems good to go for the long haul. Thinking like the TruckerCo Tire Cream and like you showed Tireject... will have to get some of this Scotch Weld next. Thanks for sharing! Totally was thinking about like the snow chains too.

Definitely going to get some of that Rubber Weld for my toolbox....seems like amazing stuff. Ginger looked surprised at first to hear she "was a dog" LOL...so intelligent!

might want to run those tires with less pressure use white shoe polish and drop pressure till all polish wears off across the tread. thats ideal for tread wear.

I’ve said it before but how can anyone not love dogs? They truly are man’s best friend for several reasons. They’re always glad to see you like the tasteless and tactless joke about how to see who loves you the most your wife or your dog. Lock both of them together in your trunk and return an hour later and which one is glad to see you. They’re ALWAYS glad to see you. They’ll stick by your side all day and patiently wait for in the car while you’re shopping. Gotta love our dogs and yes there is God because only God could make such reliable friends. Ginger you’re an awesome girl!

stack 3" 2" and 1" wide x long strips giving 3 forward edges for traction. then you could stud the tread for winter traction.

Nice 👍🏻. Going make custom mud runners for my Honda 300 4x4. Because Honda 300 4x4 uses 1” difference between front and rear tires. Have 26” all way around so going build up way supposed to be. Got something to do with transfer case. Or front ring pinion not matched. If do lot hard road rides that’s what’s tears rear ends out. Trust me see lot 300 4x4 rear ends gutted. 4x4 only 2x4 you can use same size. That’s I’m formation from older great Honda mechanic. Frank. Franks atv. Get all your atv needs. Franks atv Smithers WV. Just wondering if you have ever experimented with trying to "stud" any tires for ice traction? This would be a great idea for odd size tires in the frozen north country if successful. I have seen different attempts on various vehicles such as motorcycle tires but they were not using the gluing products instead opting for tubes.

I'm about to do a chicken 🐔 and produce turnaround run from Atlanta to Los Angeles to Atlanta. I'll glue this on grossing 80,000 lbs. Will glue tread on 18 tires and let you know how they hold up. Sure nuff if you could simply glue the strips of tread on it would be safer. When the entire cap blows on a recap it's a massive explosion. If these strips started to come loose the driver could cut them off one by one at the tire.

I too would be very interested, for what it's worth, I feel this is as serious a test as it gets. If you find this effective, it will be worth giving it go on forklift steering tyres which take a beating and chew out fairly quickly . Good on you for giving it a serious test. Thanks

@@davidp8157 Honestly I was just being a Smart @$$. Would be afraid the DOT would shut down a ride instantly if they happened to notice this. They are a ruthless bunch. They to Love to prison rape any driver who strays from the pack. If you're talking about all terrain construction forklift steering tires , this would be the ultimate test for this glue. A great older friend of mine who finally had to throw in the towel a couple years ago ran a couple 580 Case Construction King forklifts. He bought 4 new steering wheels for them. He had me to double weld plate steel in the center of the wheels because they kept bursting out at the most inopportune times. Anyway no more broken wheels but I've seen whole chunks of tire caps missing from them.

I had a car tire that was indestructible, 100% wire re-enforced, needed a monster hardened shear blade machine to cut it. Got to find a soft sidewall tire for this.

I didn't really trust "any old superglue" at first but damn I am happy you went through all the effort to prove it's worth!! Thanks!

I'd like to see you try a different technique where you could take a brand new or slightly used ATV tire with a bad sidewall and just cut the entire size out deflate your tire and then slide that over top and then just inflate your tire to pinch it together it seems like it might be a safer longer-lasting tire and still give you good flex

Use some soapy water when cutting the sidewalks, makes the blade slide much easier

YES, its called re treading & has been done for years. Even today simi trailer tires are retreaded. !

Since it works so well for the tire itself, I wonder how well it would work for fixing bicycle inner tubes. It seems like a superior glue to rubber cement. The advantage I have seen for using rubber cement instead of contact cement is that the rubber cement will stay flexible, and the contact cement will be hard. How does the PR100 dry? flexible or hard?

Haven't watched the video yet. But I'll tell you right now. If it stayed together for the length of the video....its a miracle. I have the exact same tires in the exact same shape. Youd be better off to turn em into snow makers/studded ice tires. That's what I want to do with mine.

Wonder if that can save dry rot? Guess I could do a tube but also thinking about it for motorcycle tire so maybe higher speeds and not safe

I did glue a couple larger dry rot cracks together in another go kart tire and it held. I would probably pass with tires that saw any real speed.

Stack them and you could take it to the sand dunes with your homemade paddle tires. Tin shears may be better than scissors though I'd find a power tool that could do it.

I like this series on this glue. Have you tried it on plastic? Or rubber to metal?

My dad used PR40 to fix a plastic kids slide that had cracked. He also fixed a plastic wire attachment connector thing (that's the technical term) on his truck. He said it bonds plastic immediately, so make sure you get it right the first time or it'll be lopsided like both of the things he fixed 😉

I have the same pocket knife and have been carrying one for years. Awesome knife but they use plastic washers as bearings and they always wear out and the hinge gets all floppy.
