CAN MY SCANNING TRAILER BE SAVED?
Every year we have to do something to keep this trailer on the road. Things are starting to fall apart and i'm not sure if she can be saved. I head to TH Jenkinson in Ayr to find out!

ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZread and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

@@TheSheepGame well the force’s loss is our gain. Loving the videos. The shearing tour series this year was really exceptional. I’ve loved the Shiants for years, and can’t get enough of the Hebridean islands.
When you have staff like Gordon, you can be sure that work is going to be done. He obviously know his stuff.
That Gordon is brilliant. He explained what needed doing clearly and thoroughly. Just what you want in a mechanic. Good to see your little trailer fitted up and ready for the season!👍

And it so good to know there is a feed store that gives away all their merchandise to Cammy T----- Merchantile by name! It is amazing that they can put Wellies on Cammys feet like that and always have the merchandise for free at the front desk when he rushes in. My Ag Co-op is good but nothing compared to those two women!
Thanks for letting us tag along. You “introduce” us to the nicest people.
Not only did you illuminate the professional versatility of T H Jenkins, the employees were impressive too.
We all need to be doing this and helping out our fellow local businesses more so now that we've been abandoned by governments and corporations. cash and barter is the future for the little guys.
The Hoof Farrier would be proud of Jenkins work on your scanning trailer’s hoofs, Cammie. Great drone footage of the company’s place, very neat exposure of their stuff. You can see the love and pride for their work. Love the Ayr Scottish and your slow voice-overs. Your videos are just getting better and better. Now waiting for the scanning videos, another magical part of The Sheep Game!

Thank goodness for TH JENKINSONS smart idea to give you a deep discount in exchange for your video. It is clear you have a wide viewership in Scotland and he will benefit from your video and you will benefit from the discount. Great benefit for you both and you will be safe.
I’m glad you are getting sponsorships that help your business because of your hard work on the KZread channel. You deserve it. I can imagine video taping makes tasks take much longer. Maybe now a good pressure wash for the old scanning trailer?

Thank God for the Gordon's of the world. He takes pride in his craft and it shows.
I'm a fan of the sheep games in America. I'm sitting here just laughing. After listening to your mechanic, I hope no one ever coments on your accent again. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Good morning! I am a Canadian living in a small town in Mexico. Yesterday i noticed that one if the kids playing in the street in front of my house was speaking English with an accent He said he was from the north of England. I said I watch your videos and that I thought his accent sounded similar to yours....he said he loves watching the Sheep Game! The world is pretty small lol.

Wow!!! That is insane! Thanks for that message! Made my day!
Gordon is an absolute legend! He truly knows what he is doing, and did a great job explaining what the problems were, and how they needed to be repaired. Your scanning trailer has had a lot of customization, so it is fit for purpose. When you get home, make sure you make some space to keep this gear under cover. Sunshine can be a lot more damaging than you imagine, to say nothing about rusting in the rain. It was lovely just listening to everyone just talking - as an American, I enjoy hearing the regional language differences.

Neat! I remember having an emergency horse trailer in a similar condition. Did a lot of work to add support harnesses, padding, and monitoring equipment inside it. The tires and flooring, however, did not last in the punishing Pacific Northwest weather of the US. Bought it for a song but the structural refit would have cost me my bank account and so I sold it on to someone else. I'm glad to see your trailer was salvageable. What a lovely job they did on that hitch especially. :D Happy Scanning!

He talks like you do when you don’t think we’re listening… but about tires and gears (foreign language to me) and not sheep. He obviously loves his job and knows everything about it. Mad skills Gordon! He doesn’t seem discouraged by the condition of your trailer, he seems excited to make it all better. I can’t stop giggling at the long list of things what need fixing. Fun video!
Glad we've helped in a little way. Your a truly good fella, it's no wonder Lizzy n Jock think your pretty kool 😎 lol

That's a really good job they did for you, Cammy, so now just (*ahem) fix yo' truck. Lol, I'm just teasing. But no, I showed this to my hubs, who is a mechanic, and has fitted out several trailers over the years, and he liked it too. Although, he did say he'd never seen a handbrake on a trailer like that, and wished he'd had one to fit on for the last trailer he fitted out for a dog rescue. Would have been really handy, so he said he's going to look into that! Sorry I'm so long winded... I'm Texan. 🦬

haha amazing how it just sits there until I need it lol
I have bought a few trailers for scrap price and many only needed new cables and hitch and it used to be a good return selling them on. But recently prices have gone mental so I am sat with 2 hoping prices for parts drop. With the work done there it should be good as long as the top will last. Even sitting it on a concrete pad would stop the cables and other pieces from seizing and rotting

Really Cammy you might want to take a bit more care of her going forward 😍 🤣🤣🤣🤣Again thanks for keeping it real and sharing your life 😍😍😍

Virginia, my thought exactly and was going to post the same suggestion! Cam you might want to consider a 'wrap' for the buggy with advertising for all your businesses (which would make a nice video op and even maybe set a trend for other small businesses). Here in the states that would make it all a tax write off! Is there such tax deductions there? That was a great vlog of upscale recycling antique restoration--in true Scotch essence done right! Kudos to the amazing workers/company!

Quality workmanship. Decent price compared to a new trailer. For as few hours that preg ck trailer is used, smart investment. Little paint n it will be as sharp looking as a new one for $7500US Well organized company with clean yard n buildings, work areas. Take pride in what they do n how they take care of their customers. You re lucky to have them, one stop supply n trailer center Hose it off before stoage, let it dry n spray it down with vegtable oil steel frame. Axle, body steel, wheels, springs, outside of brake drums, any wood Slows down rust n rot Does road maintenance spread salt on the icy roads there? Really corrosive That good woman of yours would really enjoy a fancy dinner out on some of that money u saved repaired instead of new My grandparents raised 8 kids on a farm thru The Great Depression by making what they had work

Cracking job getting the trailer sorted most trailers on the road are at least half dodgy the boy missed a trick with the tyres they are date stamped on the side that’s the first thing they should look at because 7 years after manufacture they should be changed trailer tyres rarely wear out within 7 year
Great video Cammy. I must be "getting my ear in" because I understood it all. 🤔 question. Do you have facial exzema in sheep on Scotland? Looking forward to your paint job.
Every few years I’m either building a new bigger trailer, welding up rusted frames or re-skinning a trailer body. This year metal went up so much that I had to pull apart a large trailer, sell my semi and semi-trailer and build out a new trailer frame and box with a crane. My old trailer held 8 sheep and my ‘new’ one will hold 30…which is the outer limit of any load for myself that I will ever carry. New sheep trailers for 30 sheep went up to $45,000 this year…who can afford new!?!? I rebuilt my entire ‘new’ trailer for $1,150.00. It will carry 20 tonne (or about 30 ‘butt tonnes’) on the frame and has two 12 ton axles. Triple axle trailers are always more expensive in tires because they just don’t track. They burn through tires almost weekly at $600 ea. It’s always cheaper to go two axles that carry more weight and special 14 ply tires that are made for axles used in moving houses. The axles on your trailer are too light. You have to power wash the trailer floor EVERY trip if you want it to last more than five years.
Great video they did a good job
