Can Martin Beat Stockfish with FORTYSEVEN Queens?

Ойын-сауық

Hope everyone’s having a swell week so far :D Today, we are going to be giving the Martin Bot 47 (?!) queens to work with against Stockfish NNUE. Will Stockfish be able to survive this?
Enjoy and let me know if you have any feedback or video ideas! Cheers to everyone!!
Game setup: Stockfish 15 is playing White, running @ 30 depth. I used chess.com analysis board for White's moves, since unfortunately this custom position crashed the user interface that I normally use XD

    You can argue that Martin is a very strong engine since random moves would give you a better result than what he does. So he is delibaretly plays bad moves which shows his understanding of the game is pretty good.

    @@gfghdgfghd6391 There is, amusingly a bot even worse than Martin out there, I believe called "Worstfish" which is essentially "anti-stockfish" designed to always choose the worst moves possible. Amazingly, a grandmaster managed to gain the maximum possible material advantage (promoting all their pawns to queens and capturing all of the bot's pieces save the king and one pawn) and then deliberately lost to it by basically forcing it into a bunch of situations where the only legal move was for it to move into more advantageous positions.

Higher "rated" bots would have a higher probability of playing the best move while lower rated ones will pick the second, third or even tenth best move over the best one more often. In other words: Yes, Martin knows "all" the best moves and very deliberately doesn't play them.

  • @itisALWAYSR.A.
    @itisALWAYSR.A. Жыл бұрын

    The thing with the 47 Queen setup is it pretty much forces checkmate. Martin *could* eke a draw, but that would require optimal moves with perfect cooperation [eg 1. Nxa3, anyQxa3, 2. Rb1, both sides shuffle that rook and Queen back and forth to draw by repetition]. The issue comes is that Martin didn't get the memo, and isn't so organised either. His options are very limited with such a full board. He's practically obliged to capture pawns, and on such an open board, having dozens of queens makes mate near enough a mathematical certainty with so few degrees of freedom.

    Hi everyoneee!!!! Just want to thank you all tremendously for checking out this video - we now broke 1 MILLION VIEWS!!!!! You all give me so much motivation to keep going. And your comments have been hilarious 😆😆 Also, just to answer some of your most asked questions: 1. HOW TO SET UP THE MATCH Go to www.chess.com/analysis and set up whatever crazy position you want to face Martin against. Then you just need to click on the bullseye button in bottom right corner. And from this screen, click on the computer icon in bottom right corner to select the bot you wish to play! 2. WHY STOCKFISH IS DRAGGING PIECES This is just me playing the moves out from Stockfish, which I had running on another screen. I cut out time between moves when Stockfish is thinking. This process is beginning to be more automated - check out recent video (Stockfish 15.1 playing 1. f3) if interested to see this :D 3. WHY STOCKFISH IS 1600 This is just the ELO the account I created started at. I now just use inspect element to change the ELO to be 3700+ XD Thank you all so much for your time. I will get back to all of your comments today - currently working on a unique and fun Martin challenge video, hopefully updated by day’s end :D Cheers to everyone!!!!

    I very much do. Many minesweeper version don't guarantee solvability, hence it can often become a guessing game, in which the best strategy is to figure out the cell with highest chance not to be a mine. And it all depends on luck in that case. "Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection" has a version of minesweeper with the option to ensure solvability, while classic Windows Minesweeper is purely random.
