Can Martin Beat Stockfish with FORTYSEVEN Queens?
Ойын-сауық
Hope everyone’s having a swell week so far :D Today, we are going to be giving the Martin Bot 47 (?!) queens to work with against Stockfish NNUE. Will Stockfish be able to survive this?
Enjoy and let me know if you have any feedback or video ideas! Cheers to everyone!!
Game setup: Stockfish 15 is playing White, running @ 30 depth. I used chess.com analysis board for White's moves, since unfortunately this custom position crashed the user interface that I normally use XD

You can argue that Martin is a very strong engine since random moves would give you a better result than what he does. So he is delibaretly plays bad moves which shows his understanding of the game is pretty good.

@@gfghdgfghd6391 There is, amusingly a bot even worse than Martin out there, I believe called "Worstfish" which is essentially "anti-stockfish" designed to always choose the worst moves possible. Amazingly, a grandmaster managed to gain the maximum possible material advantage (promoting all their pawns to queens and capturing all of the bot's pieces save the king and one pawn) and then deliberately lost to it by basically forcing it into a bunch of situations where the only legal move was for it to move into more advantageous positions.

@@gfghdgfghd6391 Most bots are essentially low-depth Stockfish (meaning they use little processing power) who would analyze the best moves possible. Higher "rated" bots would have a higher probability of playing the best move while lower rated ones will pick the second, third or even tenth best move over the best one more often. In other words: Yes, Martin knows "all" the best moves and very deliberately doesn't play them.

at this point i am utterly convinced that martin (the bot) has a built-in anti catch-up system, where if he's up too much material, he literally wont do shit
The thing with the 47 Queen setup is it pretty much forces checkmate. Martin *could* eke a draw, but that would require optimal moves with perfect cooperation [eg 1. Nxa3, anyQxa3, 2. Rb1, both sides shuffle that rook and Queen back and forth to draw by repetition]. The issue comes is that Martin didn't get the memo, and isn't so organised either. His options are very limited with such a full board. He's practically obliged to capture pawns, and on such an open board, having dozens of queens makes mate near enough a mathematical certainty with so few degrees of freedom.
When your material advantage is mroe than your elo
Beautiful, Truly Beautiful! I think martin is underrated. He even went for the Queens Queen opening in the beginning and unfortunately was beaten by stockfish.

It makes me question how people have 250 level rating. It seems like martin was almost losing on purpose. Even a new player, if they are a real human, should win this position I believe, unless they are losing on purpose.

@@banana9494 humans dont lose this position simply because black just has way more than pieces than white.

@@banana9494 Maybe it's suppose to make games even before he win or lose (most likely lose). To make games more exciting. So he's intentionally playing bad here, and if he had a bad starting position he plays great in the early game before always losing (to not reveal he's actually capable of playing great). Just a theory

Thing is the bot still uses stockfish but on a really low depth and it will essentially never do the top move. (except for certain exception like the checkmate in 2 in this video)
Martin being rated 250 is an insult to every 250 in the world

Martin is even better than 250 players, and bro whos 250? 2yo kids?
This is more horrific than my worst nightmare.
I beat Martin 10:3 in 1 minute games. His quick random moves can be problem when you do not have time to think.

@@marekhrabovsky5890 :D nice! Yeah shorter time controls can be tricky for sure, especially since bots play so fast and Martin’s moves are simply unpredictable
wonder how many kids Martin has considering he had 34 queens by his side

It doesn’t surprise me that Martin can lose with 47 queens, because well… It’s Martin.

This was more painful than I thought it would be
Martin is insane, hes just better
Martin is like a relationship, unpredictable
that eval bar just summoned by the gods
This is a fever dream
No doubts that Martin would make one of the smartest human beings to ever be known on this planet
Imagine how powerful Martin actually is if he wasn't attempting to lose all the time...

Rooks running over his army of queens. Martin: Haha time to make half dozen nothing moves
I've never been so proud.
wait Martin actually went for good moves!? I really thought Martin would find a way to loose this
I kept pleading for Martin to trade 18 of his queens for 18 of White's pieces, but he said he had a better method to win. :)

A human player can probably do it with a few less than eighteen Queen sacrifices, because there's a few spots where you can take a white piece without having your queen immediately captured.
Imagine giving Martin the Entire US Army to his disposal and yet he STILL lost!

I'm so proud of Martin. 😁😁
Stockfish: OH GOD OH GOD MATE IN 3 ON THE BOARD PROMOTE TO A KNIGHT BECAUSE THAT SAVES A MOVE THROW AWAY THE QUEEN FOR AN EXTRA MOVE OF LIFE AAAAAAAAAAAA Martin: _busy learning how the queen moves_
My eyes are bleeding now, thank you very much for this horrifying content.
Martin is the Glass Joe of chess
Hans is taking notes for the next tournament.
Stockfish Rooks: Look at me, I am the queen now.
The music, lol. The perfect score for watching tragedy unfold. 😂

XD thank you!!
I swear everyone else has a different Martin than me. I've done similar challenges with Martin vs stock fish and he almost always plays way more co fide than than you see in these videos. He also plays better than you would expect a 250 player to.
what was martin thinking when he didn't take the pawn bruv? 3:20
