Interesting video, very informative. I actually pulled my vest out of the closet after watching to make sure I wasn't representing myself as something or someone who I am not. I'm proud of my country, I have an American flag on my chest over my heart with no other patches or pins above it. I'm a retired Navy Veteran (30 years service) I have a USN patch. I belong to HOG so obviously I have that patch. And like you I don't have all the rockers or pins but I do have a HOG mileage patch representing 100,000 miles. I've got way more miles than that but you know what I mean. I belong to one group, Society of Grey Beard Bikers with their patch and another patch that says "Do You Even Beard?' I've got the classic 'POW-MIA' patch. The Harley-Davidson #1 patch. My type bike patch Street Glide. I eat ice cream so I've got a round patch that says, 'Ride Motorcycles-Eat Ice Cream' with a picture of an ice cream cone in the center of it. Yeah, I've got 'Loud Pipes Save Lives' and a 'Back Off' patch of a skull wearing a bandana. And finally I've got my very personal nick-name patch 'Silver Fox' because I'm 71 years 'young' and my hair is silver! So...all that being said...I think I'm good! Enjoy the ride and ride safe!

13 is considered bad luck (especially Friday the 13th) because on the morning of Friday, October 13, 1307, 600 knights of the Knights Templars were arrested by King Philip IV of France. Their property and wealth was confiscated, they confessed crimes under torture and most were executed or imprisoned. They were so powerful and their downfall was so astonishing that 13 remains “bad luck” to this day.

"These are my church clothes" patch has a greater meaning than was mentioned here. Many 1% clubs refer to attending their club meetings as going to "church" and some members MAY take offense if you're wearing that patch and aren't a club member. It'll probably depend somewhat upon a combination of your attitude and theirs at the moment. A little respect goes a long way toward keeping the peace.

Im a muso at heart and 90% of my patches reflected the music I would listen to. I did have a few patches of places I'd been. Never had an issue with my rockers. But then again it says “United States Marine Corps” so there is that. 😁 The only time someone said something it was just a simple misunderstanding. I have a 1st division symbol that is a 1 in a diamond and thought it was a fake 1% thing. I straightened them out real quick.

Sound sensable advice. I dont wear many badges, because, after 55yrs riding if I wore all the pins and badges that have collected, I would have to be lifted on to the bike. I stuck them on a display board in the workshop.

Remember that the patches are a way to show who you are. I had someone who didn't ride ask me if we are trying to show our individuality, why do we all wear the same patches? There must be a "biker patch starter pack". I've also been told by a police officer (I spent 18 years in emergency services) that trying to act and look tough, could tend to change the way they (police) will deal with you an emergency situation. Think about these things.

We did have 6 guys riding Harleys that had the vest with the three piece patch set and mc on the back. In Facebook groups for SOA and Mayans there's always someone who wants to know where they can buy the Patch Sets. I always tell them bad idea. Some listen, some tell me to F Off. This was a very interesting subject Itchymoche.

I don't Ride in a Club , But I do wear patches. On my jacket I have a large Bar and Shield HD logo . Nothing else on the back of it and the front I have a small HD logo and 2 hard rock Cafe pins one from Edinbrugh and one from Pattaya. The reason for the HD patch is cos I managed to eventually buy a HD motorcycle completely custom ( dream come true for me and very proud of it ). As for my vest I have a lot of Flag patches on them of places I have travelled to in my life. The vest is valuable to me and me only cos if I have not been to a place the patch doesn't go on. Not all of them are flags but will state their a place of the Country I had been to.

All of the "old schools" AKA Greybeards I knew always had a 13 and a half, rather than JUST a 13. THAT patch stood for 12 jurors, 1 judge and a HALF*SS CHANCE. I BELIEVE that when the founding fathers that originally STARTED the motorcycle gangs in the 50's and 60's wore the 13 had something to do with the fact there's 13 rings in an actual hangman's noose. (which was rumored to stand for 12 jurors/1 judge tho SOME say they stood for for the original 13 colonies.) I was told this from by Father, was Road Captain for the Saints mc after the war and before retiring in the 80's, may he R.I.P. Thomas "Wolf" Cunningham, Greatest man I ever knew! Later on came the represention of the letter "M", and depending on WHERE your from could mean what itchmoche said or just that the person liked to partake in those particular festivities, lol.

I was told, fifty + years ago, that the 1% was a guy who was a hustler for the club. He didn't have a job and didn't pay taxes. He was the guy who could "get" things. He might have done somebody else's time. Patches, tattoos, as well as helmet stickers, trinkets and paint, can identify a participant in many other unmentionable activities. The soldiers coming back from WWll confiscated mementos from the krauts. Iron Crosses, buttons, helmets, jewelry, patches, etc. They got traded and passed down through the years.

Enemies in the same spot at the time doesn't cut it for me. I do support a dominant MC but you must understand the support shirt or patch can get you hurt or in bad conditions. I do sit down with friends and drink but I stay out of politics and will never wear a patch.
