Thank you! I’ve an Escalade with a ceramic coating and I work 60-70 hours a week. It’s hard for me to find the time to spend 1.5 hours to wash using a foam cannon and the two bucket wash system. My Escalade is dirty more often than it’s clean and it bothers me from an image perspective. Even though it’s not recommended, I now know I can use a touch car wash without making my Escalade look really bad. I didn’t know how the ceramic coating would react to the touch car wash.

Very helpful, thanks! I have a ceramic coating on my car and in the summer, I only rinse with water and use a special wash mitt with no soap at all to wash it and that works very well. Then I towel dry with a micro fiber towel. But now, in winter, I was wondering about car wash options. Luckily, there is an automatic car wash nearby that is touch less. Thanks for the clarification, helps a lot!

It’s better to use a good soap that provides more lubrication than water alone. Less chance of swirling on the paint. And the coating will last longer

What about the fact that the pH of touchless wash soap is high, which is apparently bad for the ceramic

Great point @@SnareMan! This can degrade a coating faster however will not ruin it immediately. While we will always recommend hand washing as the safest option we also understand that a lot of people like the convience of a touchless wash which is why we suggest them as the next best alternative.

I thought I was going to continue with an automated touch car wash until you explained it the way you did. I won’t now. But the touch-less washes won’t get heavy dirt off your vehicle. I’ll use the self service was & I’ll keep putting my Meguiars’s ceramic wax on my car until I can have it professionally done. The ceramic wax I’m using definitely repels & beads water. So with frequent washing and waxing the touch less wash will work. Thanks for the advice.

Also if you use the touchless carwash just use the very minimum without the clearcoat protection & other unnecessary chemicals. They can start breaking down that expensive ceramic coat. They are not needed.

I got the ceramic coating on my car but I'm starting to have second thoughts. I generally do not have time to wash my car because I work 2 jobs. The car wash was my go to. My second car I think I will not put ceramic coating on. My questions is what if I get my car detailed and waxed mor often when I use the touch car wash. Will that help? Maybe every 2months do a good detail and wax.

Hey! Getting your car detailed and waxed regularly will surely help maintain the finish if you opt to not have it coated and still utilize automated washes.

Great news , still confused on what/if PH level soap matters for ceramic coated vehicle.

PH neutral is a good regular wash soap for a coating. A slightly Alkaline wash soap will be great every so often to cleanse the coating and release contaminants.

I can’t wash my car at my condo. I just had my Tesla ceramic coated. What is the best way to wash at a local car wash that has the high pressure wands?

Great question! If you are using a self wash then having some things on hand like a bucket, grit guard, wash soap, and wash mitt is a great start. Alternatively automated touchless car washes can also be utilized with good results and a bit of towel drying by hand at the end!
