The downsides of mall are the massive hordes and many open doors and windows however from tactical standpoint it isn’t a bad choice, because of the long catwalks and the only way to go up and down them is the stairs or elevators it actually could be pulled off if you plan and plant defenses in the right areas. Can’t wait to see what lime does.

Trapped in a mall for 30 days? Getting some serious dead rising vibes here

Point of order! ; Only the unkillable Trioxin zombies were fixated on brains, all others would bite whatever they could get ahold of. Edit, I remember now the “zombies”(🤷‍♂️not quite sure they were Z, but…) from that Shakespeare parody “Warm bodies” liked brains too, but because eating that gave them feelings, sensation and memories from the human.

So you bought a brand new, perfectly working Colt 1911 out of a vending machine, just to disasemble it and make a makeshift scrap pistol out of its parts? Genius. XD That was quite a carnage tho!

i remember you fought sprinters by digging spear traps before, is it possible to get bags of dirt and empty them at the door and dig spear traps in the mall?

Reminds me more of dawn of the dead

I was doing almost the same challenge run a while back, but I spawned on the helipad so the entire mall was filled with zombies at the start. Makes it very interesting knowing you have to work quick to clear the mall as best you can before the horde arrives. I would never destroy the stairs like many of the other commenters suggest, however. Obviously that's the winning strategy, but it's a challenge run for a reason, and using the delete tool feels like cheating to me. We can be more creative than that. Good luck.

You should create a character named Ash and do a run with only chainsaws. :P You could block off all the stairs with furniture and secure the whole top floor, but there's not much fun in that. :)

Man, this was one heck of a show! I'm looking forward to see how Lime is gonna solve this, because that first horde was freaking massive. I'd say it was a bit too much for a first wave, but Lime survived. Taking on 9(?) more, growing with each wave, is going to be a challenge. More than anything, I think exhaustion will be a big enemy. He was already exhausted after fighting wave 1.

I gotta wonder if the horde you dealt with was solely from the event or added onto from outside the mall on account of the gunfire attracting them into the mall(considering this is in Louisville after all).

Ah, the 'Dawn of the Dead' challenge... As a matter of fact, doing challenges based on all zombie movies could be interesting! (28 days later, etc etc) *Edit* Looks like you've already done some (if not all of those...may need to look more.)

My dude, this challenge is awesome!!! I only just discovered PZ about 2 weeks ago and I love it :D Since you asked for suggestions, I suggest that you really buckle down with barricades to create more chokeholds and demolish some stairs and replace with sheet ropes in several tactical positions so they can't reach the second level, but you can. Then, all you gotta do is toss some grenades or Molotov cocktails into the crowd as it grows (and hope that it doesn't set the mall on fire with you in it). Maybe try reinforcing some windows/doors in certain areas so you'll be able to predict where the zombs come from? Or relocate some counters to act as barricades/bottlenecks - as zombies always tend to try going around them instead of breaking them down or climbing over them? Only thing is, you can't climb over them either, but you could always move them and replace them - but that might defeat the purpose. Whatever you decide to do, I can't wait to see the next update! If you fail (let's face it, PZ is all about failing and trying again), I hope you'll try it again!

15:50 Should grab a love seat ( I usually do this when I start a game ) they weigh 7 stone? pounds whatever =P and they give you a good nights sleep when you cant use a bed and get chased off to wherever ^.~ Can put it in yer base and it take 1 space, and nighty night. This was really good lol I Look forward to the rest of this series awesome job there.. It got a bit hairy. I think you need to get rid of some stairs if you find a sledge? And use ropes to get around, mind you not all the stairs since zombies pull down the ropes too would suck to be stuck downstairs rofl. Thats the best idea Ive got offhand

10:19 There's a little clay animation on 9anime where a maid fends off a bunch of zombies with just a chainsaw. Wonder if that chainsaw zombie was purposefully done by the mods devs or just a happy little accident.

Loved the “Drip or Drown” reference

This is one of the most hollywood-zomboid-runs xD Also, I think the best way to defend (from the POV that we know that we will only stay for 30 days) is to defend it like any house. Take everything useful from the downstairs to somewhere up, cut off the stairs and use ropes. Maybe leave one leading to the "Killing Catwalk" if you want to actually get rid of the horde.

This is some Dead Rising stuff. Literally building his own weapons.

I think fighting by one of the entrances on horde night is a great way to fight the horde coming from that direction as they come in and allows for the sprinters to get separated from the rest from all other directions. The sprinters will always be the main major threat the rest can be solved with patience or guns or coffee so any plan should really be how to deal with the sprinters. When there are few shooting them will do but when there are more then your magazine -whatever shots you miss then you are dead or in deep trouble. So make a little box by an entrance with a sheetrope up, shoot spear or chainsaw anything that gets close and rope up to reload all the guns quietly. having a few places where you can just drop a rope into a probably safe spot would also be good to prepare, spots that you mark beforehand where you know if I drop a rope here I will come down by a barricaded position. jumping floors like that gives a lot of distance between you and the main threat the sprinters.

I've done something like this before, I took cubicles and chain fences and cut off every stair case except one and camped that staircase
