Can I ride my motorcycle again? |S6-E106|

In this episode I am testing how my ankle injury is healing and whether or not I'm fit enough to hit the road again. My friend Ed shows me around some amazing trails in the Moab area so I can try off-roading.

I very much agree that Noraly's riding skill is remarkable. When she was talking about not choosing to pick the easiest line, I was, like always, wishing I was good as she is at picking the best line. She uses the power of the bike to move and she's easy on herself and the bike. Finishing last is not as much a loss as a DNF because you broke yourself or your machine. She has all of the skills I've always admired in pro riders.

Noraly: "How can you not like geology when you see this!" Ah, yes, indeed. Just as Long Way Round launched thousands of trips on big ADV's, you (and Ed, by the way!) have launched thousands of trips on dual sports, whether on Alaska, Royal Enfields, or little 90's, showing that the journey is, first and foremost, about simply going someplace with a great attitude and being open to what's around you. And the journey doesn't have to be across a continent -- if you can't go far, go where you are! Every step in your journey seems greater than the last, and what I realize is that they're all great, and that what makes each stage unique is that you find the "extraordinary" in each place, even when it might be "ordinary" for the locals. It's the enthusiasm for life that shines through. Thanks for the incredible shots (helmet cams, drone shots, and more), and a big thumbs up to Ed, as well. I am simply spell bound.

I've watched over a 100 episodes of your adventures, and this is the first time I've seen you ride from outside of your normal video perspectives - handlebar/helmet mounted, selfie stick or drone. While those are just fine and give an amazing view of what you do, they don't show how you actually ride. The drone shots are always from a far distance and you're going slower so as to monitor or control the drone. This, however, was a real treat seeing how skillful your riding actually is. Watching you negotiate that soft sand trail and bumpy rocks gave a real proper show of you and Alaska working together. I know you prefer to ride alone, but it sure was nice having someone along with you during this episode just to film your riding. Thanks, Ed. Love your channel.

From the history of Thelma and Louise to the mind blowing geology and the redemption of you Norali getting back on the bike. It is for me you’re best video yet. Go easy, don’t overdo it because it’s a blast seeing you take on North America on the crf. I can’t stress enough how impressed I am with your riding. You are doing very technical stuff.

You forgot to mention the most important part , that being actually able to see Noraly's riding skills. Very proficient. I never thought that I would say this , but from the riding skill perspective I was glad to see the back of her. It doesn't really matter if you take the easy route Noraly as it is much better to get to your next destination with Alaska in one piece so as to be able to carry on the next day without having to find a repair workshop or hospital (god forbid) Well done Ed too for looking after Noraly and for the 'whole picture' clips of Noraly, they made a great difference to the riding views from Noraly's perspective. A great great video altogether.

This is the Utah I’ve been craving too see. The rock formations and millions and millions of years of erosion it took to create what we see today. The power of time. Even though I’m 67 years of age and still in good shape. I’ve got decades of off-road riding experience and would love to be there with both of them. My riding partner was almost always my younger brother. May when he’s retired we can once again go riding together again. So many good memories and stories we still share when we get the chance too. So far we’ve seen just a tiny sliver of the whole of America and what Noraly has to see and share with us. Carry on my sweet Noraly. 🇺🇸
