    Shows that if it isnt a very cheap price and no one wants it straight up just wait for the 10% offer then send an offer lower than that and stick to it. No seller wants you to know that 😀 Most want a quick sale. Power to the buyer!!!

    So if I understand this right 13.25% goes to ebay and 25 percent of my annual earning will go towards that 1099 tax stuff. So 38.25% of everything I sell plus tax is is given away? Bout to give up ebay because thats not profitable or worth my time if this is correct.

  • @MuggsyTM

    @MuggsyTM

    Жыл бұрын

    13.25% is ebay fees, tax is applied to any and all income streams, not just reselling. The main question is if it's worth your time for the 13.25% cost to have access to buyers. No matter how you make your income, you will always pay 25% or whatever the percentage is of the tax bracket you fall in based on how much you made the previous year. Not legal tax advice, but that's how I've come to look at it anyway. The only difference I've noticed in taxes with reselling is there's a few different forms you use to file than just filing a simple tax return if you only worked a traditional 9-5. At the end of the day, your income gets taxed no matter what, so it shouldn't be a deterrent specifically to reselling itself.

    I sell boat engine parts on ebay and when pandemic started I started getting into collectibles since majority of state owned boat ramps were closed and sales started to diminish. but I do roughly 250k a year on there, last year was wild with the graded collectibles market and was more like 300k area. This is my full time job and I live very comfortably doing it and I do it all by myself 9-6 mon/fri. if you get a store subscription and do 30 day free returns with one day handling time my fees are roughly around the 8/10% mark depending on the price of the item. Also I'll add that there's business write off's for your taxes.

    At first glance, 22 listings sounds like a busy week. You only invested ~15% or so of your available funds through. Cash was originally the limiting factor, but now that you've got some momentum, it seems like time is the barrier. Is the time cap inhibiting your sourcing? Did you count both Dave and Al's time for the estate sale, or are you considering Al Pal to be a discord resource who just happened to be in the neighborhood? The thrift store suggestion below seems like a good idea. If you want to keep to the spirit of the challenge, do you need to move up a level of sourcing to invest more of your available cash within your now more limited time?

  • @catrpcrew

    @catrpcrew

    Thanks for all your thoughts! Time is definitely a limiting factor! We have to do with what we have! We do considering Alpal as a resource and don’t factor his time in. Like the series. I am seeing that Ebay has been pouring out a lot of money with sponsored videos. I really wish they spent money, time and effort with Staff that were specific to problem resolution with bad buyers and scammers. Unfortunately the staff seem woefully capable of dealing with these issues.. to the point where they just submit cases against buyer that just get dismissed without any kind of review. Even allowing sellers to leave Neutral / Negative feedback on buyers when necessary would be a good start. The partial refund scam has been terrible, I am avging 2-3 buyers a month who don't want to return items but insist on partial refund because they did not review photos/description and leverage that they have yet to leave feedback and are waiting to see my response whether I allow them to keep the item AND give them a partial refund.

  • @catrpcrew

    @catrpcrew

    Жыл бұрын

    eBay probably invests the most we’ve seen in this area. You just have to ask for help. You are under no obligation to send a partial refund, you can politely ask for the the customer to return the item if they are not satisfied, if they’re extorting you for a review then eBay will side with you and remove negative or neutral feedback. eBay sides with sellers far more than any other platform we sell on.

    @@catrpcrew I think your experience as a content creator and one that Ebay has chose to reach out advertise for them through sponsorship is quite a bit different from those who are creators nor sponsors. I have been on Ebay since Oct 2003 and can attest that there has been a decided shift as of late on removing inappropriate feedback on Ebay, the process has been made more cumbersome and many times the case is flat out denied without a valid reason or review. Calling back many times I will get a rep who says yes this should be removed.. they submit another case and yet again denied without review as its just a canned cut and paste email with non situation specific wording. I am not a small reseller either and am also Top Rated on the platform. Many times when all else fail Ebay for business are more helpful but recently that has changed as well. I wish this was just a situation that maybe just I am experiencing as of late.. but many long time Sellers on the platform have expressed the same things I am. I understand that being sponsored by Ebay is a bit of a conflict of interest when responding to such comments/concerns but I would implor you look into many sellers feelings about customer service with fraud/extortion and feedback removal as of late on sites like Reddit / Facebook / Even KZread comments on channels which discuss such issues. Sorry for the long rant
