Thing is, he only had 1 try. It's not just that he did it; it's the circumstances as well, being in a televised professional competition under the pressure of the lights and cameras. That's why it's a moment in history. Reyes is just a great guy with a great story all around.

The fact that this happened live in a tournament and the sportsmanship that emanated from this situation is heartwarming. Teach your kids competition, but respect and sportsmanship always prevail because it will always go both ways
In that spot during the competition, heck that spot in the game even, to study the board on the spot, line up and ultimately sink that shot is absolutely incredible. Given the stakes, and the situation I definitely agree that's probably the best pool shot ever. Efran was just incredible under pressure

He worked out the escape to make contact, but the pot itself was a complete fluke. He could play that shot another 50x and not sink it.

Not trying to compare myself to efren or anything because he’s obviously much much better than me, but I made a shot similar to this one at league in 8 ball (on the 8 ball). I had to shoot mine with inside English, so I think that actually helped since the angle after the kick was straighter making the cut more consistent, but it was still very cool. I think when you’re playing under pressure you can just get into a kind of zen mode and make shots like those that you’ve never practiced first try. It’s crazy.
@paddyotoole2058
Жыл бұрын
@@riclu6369 disagree. Doing the 2 cushion ‘Z’ shot across the table and back was the only way to make contact. The other 1 cushion alternatives were the bottom cushion, but being right handed that is too much of a stretch for him to cue properly and he would have needed a rest. Or the right side cushion, but the angle was such that the green ball was blocking that shot to hit the right side cushion in the correct place, even with side. And the black was blocking the one cushion escape off the left side cushion.
I had this Z shot come up in a match I had 2 weeks ago, but the cue ball was only about a diamond past the side pocket. The object ball was in nearly the same position. I actually declared that I was going to do "Efren's Z-shot" and I made it! I have never made that shot before in my life, and this time I actually made it during a match after declaring I would! One of my proudest moments in pool.

Not just the shot difficulty, but the pressure and environment he did it in. Imagine making a freethrow shot in your backyard vs a freethrow in a championship game 7 for the win.
@En1gmatic1

I get what your saying but what efren did is still at 50x harder than a free throw regardless of the circumstances. Any decent basketball player practices freethrows at least thousands of times up to that point, but how many times do you think Reyes got to practice this exactscenario before this shot?
The scariest part is he did it in 1 TRY and UNDER PRESSURE. Yet he still seemed so confident… 🤯
Yes, Efren is the best ever. And making that within 14 tries? You're not too shabby either. Really great video
For you to make that shot in 14 attempts is impressive. I thought you would take somewhere between 50 and 100 tries. I can see how skillful you are after you made the shot by clearing the table.
Yes the magician was the greatest of all times. Along with the skill level off the charts is also a level of luck. When you have mastered the first one the second comes easy. Great reenactment of the shot herd around the world, in pool that is. Great video, thanks.

I used to think that this is a plain 3-cushion shot.... but it takes a lot of understanding of speed and spin in addition to geometry as the recreation shows. Amazing that Reyes could pull that off in tournament.
Man this video really puts in perspective the difficulty of that shot. Yes- if efren missed no one would've blamed him (like going for a game winner when the game is tied vs being down cause the game goes on) But damn he made it and won in that moment.
"I don't think so." I love your friends; they have so much confidence in you. LoL!
Let's just talk about Efren's shot and how he did it at the spur of the moment with so much pressure and the title on the line. It was just as iconic as Jordan's last shot. Even the reaction of Strickland who finally realized that Efren was the GOAT and let sportsmanship get the better of his monster ego and arrogance was a shock and he would probably never do it for anyone else. Because let's face it, any shot can be replicated given enough time and analysis.
Remember this was a hill hill situation to win the match. Imagine the pressure and Efren still kept his cool. I’ve would have been shaking like hell and be totally out of control 😂 Truly one of the greatest shots of all time.

There’s doubt.. He’s the best all around player of his time, but he was barely top 5 playing 9-ball.. Nick, Buddy, Earl, Sigel and Johnny all played better 9-ball.. 9-ball is flawed, though.. Hello Sharivari, thanks for making this video. It is a testament to your hard work and passion that demonstrates that no matter your passions, you show that success is achievable. I am proud of you my friend. Nice work. Keep it up.
Taking a moment to give respek where it's due, both to Efren for making that insane shot and to Earl for having the grace and sportsmanship to call it before the last shot just in case Efren somehow misses it and loses after making said shot.
Those were great tries, sir! An amazing effort. New subscriber! 👍

Efren is by far the greatest player of all times. Extremely humble and kind as well.
It's Efren's jewel of a gift for billiard lovers down in history.
I love your idea of recreating one of the most magical shot of Efren Reyes "the Goat".
Me and my dad saw that shot live at home. We were screaming with elation after. What a great memory.
Efrem got lucky ;) Like your video, Seriously the GOAT. There is no doubt. Imagine he would miss that ball and it would be a fault, but I am sure he knew he had a good chance of getting that one in or at least hitting close to the pocket. Recreate Eftem's shot of right side pocketing the ball after the long bank shot where he had the ball hitting the target ball close to the side pocket, nudging the object ball into the pocket after being reflected by the cue ball. I dare you to 7 tries.
Doing that in big tournament with tremendous pressure is something else...
That just goes to show how difficult that shot was considering it took 14 tries from a skilled pool player and Efren did it in one shot in a must win situation.. like WTF
using the rollie from kamui music too hahaha love that
When you factor in that a game was on the line on that famous shot, it just makes that iconic moment much more golden for Efren.

That shot from back in the day is legendary. One shot, and nails it after purposely hooking what wasn't to be him making the next shot. 👏👏
Great job! You must be a really strong player to reproduce that in about a dozen tries. I think it would take me 3 times that number, and there's definitely an element of luck in here too. I think I'd be too frustrated and give up before I'd succeed.
I agree that Efren is the GOAT, and I feel honored to have been able to watch him play while he was active. If I recall correctly, the match went hill-hill, and it was the final. Pretty amazing for you to make it in 14 shots. Says a lot about your skill too! Awesome job!

Awesome..... das einzige was mir dazu einfällt. Aufrufrekord denke ich und absolut verdient. Ich hoffe du kannst noch viele solche Stöße präsentieren. Vielleicht kannst oder könntest du mal schwere matches nachstellen.
There are variables that are unknown which complicate efforts to repeat that famous shot. Just two could be the speed of the cloth at that historic moment. A second could be the reaction of the rails on that table. With this in mind, you did a fine job my friend.
I thought 23 in the beginning, nice work. I should try this sometime.
After watching this, I think he made the first one on purpose, because it is the only way for him to showcase his amazing skills, while staying humble. How else will he be able to play that 2nd shot, without looking like a showboat? It is like chess. He set the entire 2 shot sequence up, all the while making everyone believe it was an accident, giving himself an opportunity to pull off an amazing shot. The type of skill needed to pull off the 2nd shot, reveals that him sinking the 1st shot on purpose, is very likely.
How good , really enjoyed thankyou.
Thank you very much your videos have helped my so much I am struggling with the banks and kicks can you make a video on the kamui diamond slicer

ER is probably the greatest pool player of all time. He'd make shots in the final of a tournament that the best players wouldn't even attempt when they're fooling around with their friends. That man probably sweats pure confidence.
Of course he would say I just got lucky. If not nobody would play him. It happened to him in the Philippines, no one dared playing against him forcing him to find another job and went abroad using an alias so he could hustle. No safety shot is safe, three rail shots are routine to him and makes impossible angled thin cut shots. Efren 's cue ball control is excellent and a master of safety shots.
