Poker needs more people taking on challenges like this, so props to you for going for it! Now that said, there are some logistical challenges involved with an undertaking of this size that people should know about. For starters, there aren’t that many publicly available live games in the US that play at $50/100 or more & the ones that do pop up aren’t necessarily guaranteed to be running for long periods of time. Assuming that $50/100 is the average stakes during this challenge & with 8 hours of gameplay/day throughout the 90 days (a big hurdle based on how long live nosebleeds run), the hourly needed would be $1,388.88/hour. ($1 mill / (90 days x 8 hours/day) That hourly would shake out to 13.88 big blinds/hour, which is on the high end, but certainly possible given a skilled player & some run good over that stretch. The key to the challenge will likely lie in how many hours of $100/200+ you can log, as the hours you put in there will allow you to make up for hours that you’re forced to play $20/40 or $25/50 type games, due to lack of availability for the $50/100 type games. (All of this assumes that the 13.88 big blind/hour remains largely consistent across the stakes.) Again, major props for undertaking a challenge like this!

Yeh I think we've gota oB the 43s. The way equities work otr, we don't really want to face a raise w/ the straight, maybe we can go for medium more when we block more trips but yeh think just oB the straight ourselves then mix in medium sizes w/ boats, 5x and then at least w/ trips we have good removal effect to their potential jam. Tough spot live when she does ram.

Good fold. Without knowing much about villain, it’s very difficult for her to have any bluffs in her range there & doubt she’s shoving worse than our hand for value, A5 arguably being the bottom of her value range, which she may not even jam A5 there

17:17 The 34s hand pretty annoying. Obviously this is not a spot where I’d expect most people to ever find bluffs, but from the brief description of her sounds like she’s at least capable. The real painful thing here is the flop only allowing for 1 combo of 56s. So we lose to like 5 combos if she doesn’t find flop checks with KK and 22 likely isn't peeling turn. I think there’s also something to be said for the fact that you’re sort of capped at 43s and 5x in that you likely don't play any boats this way. You’re probably checking turn or river at a high frequency with 56s/66/55 some 5x and not sure you even defend K5s. So I guess if you were to structure what hands best to call having a 5 would be better than 34s in that we'd block her value more. Probably a good fold since everyone's always under bluffing, but not sure I’d of made it in game.

They seem to be hurting for a good lineup of players. Playing in Texas might also be an option for you. Best of luck!!!

34 was a disciplined fold. From what you said, it's unlikely she was repping with a bluff, and most of the time, her likely flop and turn hands easily beat you. The only other possibilities for a semi bluff jam are A5 or 45.

Wow, I thought for sure when you said you made a big fold that you rivered a 7 and not a deuce. I've played online for a living for 15 years but am a pretty bad live player so take it with a grain of salt. With that said, I think there needs to be some "randomness" thrown into just about anyone you play with in a live game. Even with regs online at 5-10 and below, most players have a percentage or two of randomness/tilt, etc. Live I think this drastically increases. Constantly you will see tighter older rec players just get absolutely tired of folding and play something completely funky, and there are plenty of other cases of random nittiness or aggression. I think some examples of randomness that could happen on this board are the lady raising AK and AA for value not realizing it accomplishes almost nothing but value owning themselves, or a tiny chance she was frustrated and jammed a NFD. I think combined with she just lost a cooler to you makes this a call for me. At the same time, I really have no live instincts but I believe strongly good live regs possess them and if you really felt she is strong I don't think you can fault a fold. Salud! and good luck on your journey I look forward to it.
@GingePoker
2 жыл бұрын

Is the lady the type who would reraise 56 preflop with ranges behind her? Think you're only losing if she has KK or 66. You said that you don't think she is bluffing, but if she were, I think she could have been bluffing with a good AX of clubs. I think you should be confident with your read since you played at the table and you're very experienced. Another line you could take is to bet small on river (like $1900-$2100) to induce bluff with missed clubs which you can call, if she has a 5 she could value raise which you can easily call, if she has K she can easily call that, and less likely villain can bluff all in given chip stacks (which is an easier fold if she does make that move). Of course, you lose value if you think villain can call more with K. The part that sucks the most is if she is value jamming with A5, which is reasonable based on her preflop play. Though less likely since the 5 and the K are clubs, which I think A5c would take a more passive call on turn, and other suited A5 is more likely to raise turn.
