Comforting to know we can still be saved even if Satan is tempting us with doubts sometimes. If we are believing in Jesus’ AMAZING sacrifice OF LOVE for each one of us, for forgiveness of sins, and we accept this gift of eternal life and turn away from doing sin but instead practice righteous as taught in the Bible, we are saved❣️

I think his answer to this question is a different context than what people are expecting. He seems to be answering whether people can maintain 100% assurance, in other words, can they reach a point where they will never have any doubts. And his answer is "probably not, circumstances may always interject doubts at various points in someone's life." But the question is more accurately whether or not anyone could EVER know with 100% certainty that they are saved, and the answer to that should be "yes".

This is a fine, if somewhat complex answer. I think the answer is actually more simple: Those who continue in him can have biblical confidence and assurance of salvation. "If indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel. Col 1:23. "The one who endures to the end will be saved." Matthew 13. So what does it mean to continue? A truly humble, repentant heart before the Lord and a sincere desire to honor and serve him, demonstrated in actions. "Faith apart from works is dead." James 2:26. On the other hand, one cannot claim biblical assurance if the are not continuing in Him, no matter how many Calvinist preachers you quote.

It's called the virtue of hope. After denying the Council of Trent he then, basically, repeats the substance of what Trent says-- that we can have assurance that God will be faithful, but we ourselves must correspond to God's grace and truth, and of THAT we have no assurance, barring a special revelation from God-- but he doesn't acknowledge that he's affirming the substance of this particular teaching from Trent. A sign that a position is correct is that even one's opponents unawares come to assume that position. Such is the case from this Catholic teaching from Trent, among other Catholic teachings which many Protestants implicitly and unawaringly assume to be true but without acknowledging this to be the case. All this points to the fact that the Catholic Church, being the Church founded by Christ, does not err when she defines doctrine.

The verse you referred to is stating that our Spirit is sealed. It is the condition of the Soul that determines whether we receive salvation. Otherwise where is my freewill to refuse Christ. See Hebrews 10:39, 1Peter1:9, Mark 8:36. Romans 1:8 says there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus but it does not stop there , it continues to say who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. You need to walk in obedience to the Spirit to be out of condemnation. Colossians 1: 23 says IF we continue in the faith and Colossians 3:25 says those that do wrong shall receive for the wrong he has done for God is no respector of persons. The good news is that Christ lives in us the hope of glory and if we trust is leading and are willing to suffer with him ( Romans 8:17) we will be glorified together. But make no mistake about it, you cannot just say you believe and cheapen Gods grace, the devil believes and trembles. You need to walk in His truth.

I think that there are two aspects to this question, objective assurance and subjective assurance. The Bible gives us reasons to have 100% objective assurance. What I think the speaker is talking about here is subjective assurance, how confident we are in our own minds that we can claim the biblical promises for ourselves. I think that for most people (maybe all of us, if we are truly honest with ourselves) our subjective assurance may vary from day to day. We are like the father in Mark 9 who calls out "I believe. Help my unbelief."

Here is what we found: Summary of These Things: 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you so that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God. “These things” that John wrote are: 1. Admit our sinfulness. 1:8 2. Keep the commandments. 2:3, 3:24, 5:3 3. Live as Christ lived. 2:6, 4:17 4. Love your brother. 2:10, 3:10, 3:14, 3:15, 3:23, 4:17 5. Conquered the evil one. 2:14 6. Do not love the world or the things of the world. 2:14 7. You must do the will of the God. 2:17 8. Confess the Son and you have the Father. 2:23, 5:10-12 9. The person who acts in righteousness is righteous. 2:29, 3:7 10. Lay down your life for your brother. 3:16 11. Love not in word or speech but in deed and truth. 3:18 12. Test the spirits to see if they belong to God. 4:1 13. Anyone who knows God listens to us (Apostles) 4:6 14. Love God and obey his commandments. 5:2 15. Believe God and his testimony. 5:10-12 16. the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 5:5

Its quite simple .if you believe in the name of the Son of God you can know you have eternal life. A believer can remain saved as long as he continues to abide in the Lord (John 15:4). You can lose your salvation, but that assumption is pretext by the condition that if you forsake your faith in God (2 Timothy 2:12), and rejects his commandments and teachings (Matthew 5:19; 19:17), then you will surely lose your salvation.

yohannes ferede Yes, we can gain our salvation back if we lose it when we sin against God. King David lost it and he repented. God restored him and gave him back the joy of his fellowship with the Spirit (Psalm 51:11-12). God will receive sinners back to him if they sin (but not without the consequences), but only if they repent. God forgave Kind David, but his sin costs him to ruin his household. The Prodigal Son was received back to his father’s house when he repented (v.17). He returned to his father and was forgiven and received to his father’s house. As a result of his sin, he was reckoned to be dead (Luke 15:24), and he suffered the loss of reputation (v.15-16) and was disinherited (v.31-32). King Solomon also sinned against God. During the time of his reign in Israel, Solomon received God’s blessings and favor above all men in his time. He sinned against God and didn’t repent (Nehemiah 13:26). In spite of all the goodness and blessings Solomon received, he preferred to sin against God and didn’t forsake the sin of idolatry; because he loved and chose his wives over God, and was lured to reject the wisdom of living by the word of God. Solomon was never forgiven. When we sin against God, the Spirit will lead us and guide us back to God. If we repent of our sins then God will forgive us (1 John 1:9), and restore to us the joy of our fellowship (Psalm 51:12). If we continue in sinful living and choose to disobey God willfully (Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 10:26-27), then we will suffer God’s punishment and the loss of the hope of our salvation; because “(we) are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in (us). If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”(1 Corinthians 3:17). You can sin as much as you want, but you must face the consequence of your sins; because when you are badly drawn to wanting it, it brings forth lust, and when lust is conceived it brings forth sin, *”AND SIN WHEN IT IS FINISHED, IT BRINGETH FORTH DEATH”* (James 1:25).

2nd Peter 1:10 KJV Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. Brethren = Speaking to believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Give diligence = This is an ongoing endeavor, because the enemy constantly wants us to question, then deny the assurance of Gods promises. Calling = The divine invitation to embrace salvation of God. Election = The decree made from choice by which God determined to bless certain persons through Christ by grace alone. Never = A double negative in the Greek strengthening the denial. Read that "ye shall NEVER NEVER fall". Fall = A)to stumble. B)to err, make a mistake, to sin. C)to fall into misery, become wretched. Some say stop sinning then you will know you're saved. Gods word says know you're saved, then you'll never never sin. Don't let the enemy get you thinking backwards.

I wish Dr. Schreiner was the one replying to our comments but I'll add mine anyway: I like the illustration of the tricycle but I'm not sure we should make the witness of the Spirit [Romans 8:16] the 3rd wheel. If a Pentecostal claims a personal experience of faith, yet I don't share it, am I not saved? Or, if I can claim an event in my life of a "personal witness" of the Spirit, confirming I'm a child of God, but you have no such event, do you doubt your salvation? I'd prefer the use an illustration of a bicycle and make "the Witness of the Spirit" the training wheels that are always there, but rarely need to be leaned upon, because "riding by faith" only requires the two main wheels.

God allows the devil to attack you when you sin, so you can come to God to have a closer relationship with Him because he loves us and wants us to save us from bondage of sin. In fact, God has guaranteed that if we deny Him, He will deny us (Matthew 10:33, 2 Timothy 2:12).

I'm glad to see a protestant be honest about this question in saying no, we can't have absolute certainty about our salvation. However he was wrong about the Catholic position, The Council of Trent teaches: "If any one saith, that he will for certain, of an absolute and infallible certainty, have that great gift of perseverance unto the end,-unless he have learned this by special revelation; let him be anathema. (Sixth session, Canon XVI) It condemns an absolute infallible certitude about salvation, it's not saying we can't have assurance, there's a difference. As Catholics we can have a moral certainty about our salvation. Further, even if you believe that faith alone saves, you still must do good works because they are a by-product of salvation. So in all practicality the protestant has to continue on believing and doing good works all the days of his life, or else this would prove he was never saved to begin with. Now if this is true, in order for an individual to have absolute certainty about his salvation, he would need to know the future of his life, namely that he would persevere and not fall away. None of us have that kind of knowledge, nor is it possible to attain. Therefore protestants do not have absolute certainty about their salvation.

There are two sides to the scriptures. The responsibility of man and the purposes of God worked out in Christ. When we understand the purposes of God and how they cannot fail, then the responsible man can have confidence that the gift of God which is eternal Life in Christ Jesus is assured. It is God's salvation. God the Father purposed it from eternity past. God the Son came in human form to fulfill the will of God by dying to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. God the Holy Spirit is the power by which we come into the good of what Christ has done and the means of joining us to Christ in Heaven. Christ the Head of the Body and us the Body here on earth. The fellowship can be broken by failure and sin, but the relationship is secure. We are the children of God by the new birth and adoption into the family of God.

Jesus is a lier?? NO WAY. Jesus’s words. He said in Mathew @ "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." It is very clear here that even though you are Cristian but you are sinning and not following the commandment you will be cut down. Same as Jesus said in the book of life that he can blot out those who are rebellious against Him. Like in the story of the prodigal son that even the son is with the father if the son chooses to disobey he can still go because of choice. Jesus also said In Mathew @, “And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness". That's why it is impossible that once saved is always saved because God Himself has said it that even a believer will be denied. Also in Mathew @, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter." Jesus also said clearly here that, "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand (Mathew @). Clearly, Jesus said that a true follower must act not only believe (Believe means with obedience) that he is saved otherwise he will be cut off or be judge. Now for me, the best way is I rather believe in words of sinless Jesus rather than a corrupted doctrine of sinful men saying once saved is always saved. That is not what Jesus teaching and not God's words and character because it is compromising doctrine. In Mat @-42 Jesus said again clearly, "The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is a Warning for those who spreading false doctrine from satan. Why? because Jesus again said this words “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea and gathering fish of every kind; and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. For me, the evil doctrine should be cast out from inside the church before it will burn all who believe in that kind of doctrine

The Pharisees lacked any real love of God and they rejected God's Son when He came, so any good works that they did (did they even try to do good works? maybe some of them did) counted for nothing. Filthy rags, as Isaiah calls them. But good works done by Christians in the state of grace will be rewarded in Heaven (Matthew 10:42). And they are mandatory, not optional. The rich man in the Lazarus/rich man parable had plenty of faith----he called on his spiritual father Abraham----but he lacked the good works of helping the poor. Can you earn your parents love by doing good works for them (assuming they are good parents)? No, of course not! Their love for us is unconditional. But are we required to do good works for our parents, as per the commandment "honor thy father and mother"? Yes, we are. Serving God is like that----we can't earn His love but we are required to live Him in return, and part of loving Him is the doing of good charitable works for His creatures, our fellow human beings. God gave His only begotten Son, and whosoever believers in Him....one of my favorite verses in scripture....but belief in Christ means BELIEF IN EVERYTHING CHRIST TAUGHT, including that good works are necessary for salvation (Matthew 25:31-46). The Church does not teach that works alone saves. The Church teaches that it takes BOTH faith AND good works to be saved. And we cannot be sure of our salvation in this life. We can and should HOPE for salvation. We can and should trust God that He will give us every grace we need for salvation. We can and should trust in His great mercy. But we do not know for sure that we will be saved.

Matthew 13:3-23 is Jesus speaking a parable. it doesn't necessarily say that salvation can be lost. instead it describes the word as a seed. many can hear it but it doesn't mean that everyone will understand it. the beginning of your comment is somewhat misleading. and matthew 16:27 says that they will be rewarded for their works not judged. theres a huge difference.

So many do not read the true KJV bible. The only true bible. It drives me nuts. In the Bible says if you believe Jesus died on the cross for our sin, was buried and rose three days later if you believe it in your heart and say it with your mouth you are saved.

If you don’t know your probably not born again or your living in sin and you know your not right with the lord I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I’m saved no doubt whatsoever and gods grace empowers you to overcome sin not to wallow in it so if your living in willful sin I’ll tell you you won’t go to heaven unless you repent and turn from it if there is a compulsion to sin that you can’t overcome you probably have some demons and need deliverance go ding a ministry who ministers deliverance god will set you free

Absolutely not. The only scriptural reference that would even come close as an assurance of the hope of salvation. Every other teaching is a doctrine of demons made up by Man by piecing scriptures together just like you see in every video about it

Because assurance goes up and down, the truth is hope, and endurance. So, those who claim to be saved, are self decieved, or ignorant liars, using Christianspeak metaphor, for conversion. NONE, are yet born again, as Jesus describes it to Nichodemus. NONE, are yet saved, as declared by Jesus. Hope, and endurance. Matthew 10:22, 24:13

100% assurance can be called "guarantee:' Does Bible use the word "guarantee" in any of God's promises then it is 100%. Glory to God, God does use the word "guarantee". "Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 Cor 1: 21

You dont know anything, we aren't saved by the law. Galatians 3:11 KJV - But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Galatians 2:16 KJV - Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

When Paul refers to the law he is referring to the Jewish dietary and purity laws never adopted in Christianity. And faith in Jesus requires obedience to him and his law, the commandments.

@@brandonroot7848 Paul most often uses the term "works of the law". That means dietary and purity laws. Not the ten commandments. 1 John says that we must follow the commandments if we wish to have 1 John 2:4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps his word, the love of God is truly perfected in him. This is the way we may know that we are in union with him. Your interpretation of Galatians would cause a contradiction in God's Word. Thus, it is wrong.
