Hey guys, my name is Jesus Perez and I’m a beginner bladesmith and very novice blacksmith. I got unto bladesmithing from watching Forged in Fire on tv as well as tons of KZread. Forging is a great way to learn new skills and develop skills in the diy world as well as building confidence to fabricate your own handmade tools for everyday use.     Yea it works nicely when everything is welded well. I wouldnt recommend it on copper layered knives though.

    Thats the coolest fish hook pattern I've ever seen. Nice smithing work on the tang, I was wondering what you were doing.

    Ive seen it done on videos online where they cut it like that and forge out the tang. Thought id give it a try.

    Great looking knife 👍 But I didn't see if you made a vent hole in the canister before heating it. Especially when sealing the can under pressure the way you did. I would hate to see it pop on you in the press. Safety first.

    I dont tend to do the vent hole. I just leave a small area of the lid unwelded and that tends to let the gases out.

    Looks great! Sweet patern! Just a question, do ya think ya may have left the tang a bit skinny? I cant tell on video how wide it is. Just wondering

    I agree. Once you grind it off there is no putting it back on. Its under an 1/8 thick im pretty sure. Hopefully its enough. As long as i dont do too heavy chopping with it.

    I made my press. There are companies out there that make great presses. Check out coal iron forge they have some nice ones.

    Yea it likes do dance around a lot. I just learned to live with it. One day ill have a 400lb that doesnt want to move. One day 😅
