Note that "The Strip" is not in the city of Las Vegas; rather it is in Paradise Township, so keep that in mind when researching local municipal restrictions.

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago for work. I stayed pretty far off the strip because I wanted to bring my drone and get some shots; I don’t really care about the casinos and didn’t want to just go give them my money…lol. I fly recreational only. I have an Air 2s. I got LAANC approval for 300 ft. I got some great shots. Just follow the rules and have some fun.

I am Canadian and I am going to Vegas soon . I got my drone registered with FAA and got TRUST certificate and I got also remote ID registration from FAA. i want to fly at red rock canyon. Do I need approval from LAANC? Air hub app shows it is clear to fly at red rock canyon.

Just head out to Red Rock Canyon and get some awesome footage. No restrictions.

If that area is a national park or wilderness area it will be a no go

There was no limitation when back to 2016...I remembered that i can fly phantom 4 on strip without hesitation... only got metal interferece near loiuse vitton shop close to aria. Last year i tried to orbit stratosphere and surprisingly found i cannot fly above 400ft anymore...so i need fly away to take full shape of the tower... it's good to regulate for higher public safety. It's not interesting deal with local law after FAA's rule. Like some area have No Drone Zone, where is totally fine with FAA. 😅

In order to expedite your potential for a LAANC approval, it has been stated by other pilots to forward your flight plans and request information to their Fusion Team at LVMPD. It's their anti-terrorism unit who monitors the strip and surrounding areas for all unauthorized flight, etc..

This is no longer true, FW no longer recognizes or will take info for drone ops not coordinate with one of the properties. They may againnat one time but they no longer will.

First, the strip is under Clark County jurisdiction, not the City of Las Vegas. Second, you also need to consider the most sidewalks on the actual strip are actually considered to be on private property of the resorts and they can stop you from operating on them. Third, expect to be stopped by LVMPD, even if you have LAANC approval. They use city-wide drone detection software and can see where you and the drone both are in real time. The strip is also blanketed with Public Safety cameras monitored by LVMPD's Fusion Watch, on top of all the casino security cameras. There is little they can't see. FW at one-time took notifications from operators who had LAANC approval ahead of time but they no longer want you contacting them unless you are working with on of the properties. If you have LAANC approval, your Part 107, and ID all on-hand and ready you won't have a problem. But do make sure you are following all Part 107 rules like altitude limita, line of sight, not operating over people/vehicles etc, FW knows all regs and they have been educating all patrol officers of them and have them ready for reference. Last, Nevada has some drones laws too you need to be aware of like operating with 500' horizontal or 250' vertical of Critical Infrastructure like power stations and power transmission lines. Most of the power stations are not visible from the ground but there are some around. NRS 493 for reference...

Can i fly my drone near the U.S/Mexico Border (commercially or recreationally) ?

I have DJI mini 3 pro under 250 g. Do I need permission to fly that?
