Can I explain how the Beardytron works in less than 5 minutes?

I am working hard on the next iteration of my rig. It's the most ambitious rebuild I've ever done, incorporating some ideas I've had sitting around for years and never implemented, and some I've had to innovate from scratch to make this new system work. Some of these innovations will be becoming products you can use in your own system. The best way to become a beta tester and get the devices I build for myself is to join the Patreon and you can get involved and be the first to try tech as I develop it!
See you there!

I feel like I’m watching a commercial channel but the host didn’t show up so they grabbed some guy from tech support to stand in. Awesome.
You deserve your own radio station in GTA6! I legit think they'd go for it!
There won't be another person like this for another 100 years.

The Beardytron is a beautiful piece of engineering and deserves to be patented and protected. It's a work of damn art.
when he opened ableton, I finally understood: he's insane.

you'll never get the beardyman AI 100% correct, though, even by observing it you've moved the goal posts
This is the kind of gear setup insanity that put man on the moon! Awesome! More of this please. However, I notice the new setup STILL doesn't contain any 'tinned salmon'. Its good to know that even after all these years and numerous offers of 'handsome remuneration' from Tufton Street lobbyists allegedly representing 'John West' you've resisted. Much respect.
That was the most helpful explanation of the Beardytron I have seen so far, and it's still mindblowing. I understand music tech so I know what every explanation meant, but I'm mentally exhausted trying to remember where everything is. Beardyman's brain is exceptional.
I mean , I got it, he really did explain it perfectly
Now can we get an hour or two long version on patreon which focuses more on the actual ipad layout and logic behind how you create? I loved the signal routing stream and it was very helpful in my own rig as well. Great content, can recommend to everyone interested.
ive always wanted to see the screens up close and now i regret it LOL
Really not too complicated, just super impressive as a whole system.

@@hbarnett it's not that complicated, if you've used a DAW for a while, you'll probably understand every panel/button that is on there. it's just complicated because there is a lot of stuff in very little space and he has built it for his own workflow.
I discovered your channel 15 years ago when you were making demos for Korg for the Kaoss pads. I had no idea you were still around and making music. Subscribed!
Bloody Brilliant! Not only in the tool, but the shear ability to do this level of complexity on live video and make it as intense and rich as he does.... 🤯
Hey, Mr Beard - just wanted to say that although this was a super quick whistle stop tour, the Beardytron™ is not so overwhelming to look at any more. This video really helped to break down what each thing was and I managed to follow along just fine :) Never change x
The experimental pad looks really interesting, with the euclidean sequencer! Awesom behind the scenes look but my real appreciation goes for using the same alarm tone as I
It sounds like this is a lot less custom than it was several years ago. I remember watching a talk by you where you were talking about synchronizing three different audio clocks and stuff like that. Which would be at a much lower level than just having an Ableton session with a bunch of plugins and presets and some well-refined OSC control.
You were a major serotonin boost during Melbourne's hard lockdown. I was a patron when i was able to be. Waking up at absurd o'clock for a stream was exciting and entertaining. Hope to see you live when you tour Australia
Aw hell yeah bringing Supermodal into the mix!! Also thanks for making this, we nerds soak it tf up
Dude is a musical savant
Impressive! Well done with the tanget alerts. I've always wondered what you were clicking and now we can understand on a very basic level. Thanks!
Nice to see how it works. It's been a while since I wondered what could be in these iPads. Thank you for the explanation.🎉
I was in the crowd at that show at the beginning! Shoutout Cyprus, and nothing but love to Beardyman, thanks for an unforgettable show man, that club was bumpin'!
Augustus Loop is a wonderful name
His intelligence and skill level are of the charts. He's like an Einstein, octopus hybrid!
This actually did the trick. Good job!
Fascinating. I always assumed you’d had your own software made , but you’re using all stuff I known and understand. Love your work so much ❤
that was awesome, thanks for sharing part of your process! i loved the real time test to see if you could do it, that made it all the more exciting actually, haha.
It was cool. Even the high level overview of what each ipad is for gives me context when watching you. Bravo!
Strange... I was listening to you warming up for a gig earlier and thought to myself he needs to do a vid on what the heck his set up is....low and behold my mind is being read... 👍👍 Nice

This was so entertaining to watch live. Madness, beardyman.
Really amazing to see from where you came from, using a Duck and a single KP3
iPad 1 made sense. My brain was just processing the 8 way selectors for iPad2 and then my eyes glazed over at all the other stuff and how it all changes based on the presets of the 8-ways! I started thinking about the level of routing that must go on behind all this and my brain melted. I heard something about iPad 3 controls the "pad-like" sounds, which is Pad-ception. iPad 4 was pretty colours and experimental iPad 5 was a retro 2d platformer I think. Good work! Much clearer now. Also, you're a genius! ;)
You smashed through it easy mate, watched it on X2 and you did the rig in less than 2 1/2 minutes. Don't doubt yourself brother 👊
This is exactly what I wanted to know about your rig thank you!
That was just stressful enough. Good content!

Very excited to see your setup integrated with Loopy Pro
I just wanna say, that i like your music and you, as a person. Your emotions, when i see that you do what you love. Hope one day i will shake your hand and say "hey, thats me, that strange guy, from the comments at KZread"😀 Man! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, because of you i started beatboxing. Now i have a beautiful wife, that makes music. This video was very helpful for her. Thanks, Beardy!😅
Great to hear you're still using Turnado. Think I heard you mention you have Manipulator in there too which is sick. This really cleared up a lot of what I had wondered for years. Very impressed that it all works in realtime and live. That Ableton project looks super intense, I know it's years in the making but still that is mad. I wonder how long it takes to open it
Intense but nerdy good! Good to see the transition to Loopy Pro is going…. Well? Would LOVE to interview you on my How Do You Loop? Series! Thoughts? Concerns? 50/50? Phone a friend?
I'm not even into music production, and I'm sure that was stressful trying to squeeze and explain how your software works in tandem with the hardware that into such a narrow timeframe. But It's always very interesting, so good job!
stressful indeed but definitely worth watching. thanks beardy!
Mass respect for using Valhalla, fell in love with that thing five years ago and still can’t believe each plug-in is as cheap as it is.
Absolutely sick!
So basically it's one of those sound FX keychains from the early nineties.

1) I appreciate it that you show your mistakes and crashes on your streams. It makes us mere mortals feel better! :) 2) Other than the Launchpad, have you ever gotten the system/process to a point where you felt you could transition some of the controls to physical controls? Or do you need the automation capabilities, immediate recall, etc. so phyz sliders and knobs would not make sense?

Seems pretty straight forward 😮
Now that I’ve been using a setup involving 4 different synths, each with their own Kaoss pad, I understand why you’d want more options and a more efficient set up.
Well, pure skills in both creating and explaining(ish) all that! If you want my 10p, I pretty much followed what you were saying. How all that was implemented in ableton.... Hmm, try that in 5 mins 😂🤔

whoa, well done hahah. hours of fun. thats some ableton project . id say theres some work gone into that puppy!
You make me want to learn how to use ableton. Just seen your new video about objekt which was really interesting. I've seen you mentioned in the beatbox scene, wish i looked into you earlier. Are all your tutorials on ableton? Sorry if that's a silly question,I'm new in this field. I really enjoy playing guitar and would love to apply ableton but I'm not very tech savvy and I'm not much better in regards to music theory/production. So it's very daunting to me and i never open the program. Seems cool how you can customize stuff to your liking through controllers,i assume i could hook up a stomp pad of sorts and get a preset made to play and use ableton simultaneously. So I'll do some research and get some new toys for when I'm ready to dive into this. Thanks for the inspiration,I'm excited to learn and I'll eventually have to see how you set your own stuff up. Keep it up
I feel like when I had no idea how you do it I had more of an idea :D
This video is an uncut gem
I hope to Crivanney's that you back up regularly. Nobody needs to be told it, until.. well then no-one wants to say it at all. Save the hard work you put in to developing this! I implore thee!

My head... hurts, it hurts Thx! Great video!
Pretty wild. Reminds me of the setups of the early pioneers like Isao Tomita and Francois de Roubaix
Oh right, when you put it like that it's actually really simple and now I can explain it to my mum.
Watched and loved.
thanks to the planet being spherical, you dont have to look back when youre this ahead
Thank you dude
So... you mangle your voice from the mic with the top middle ipad, record loops of it with the top halves of the two left ipads, make those sound crunchy and warbly with the bottom halves of the two left ipads, control all those loops at once with the paint samples on the top right ipad for sick drops? Got it
Tangent alert! Aahahah, man, that is some siiick geeky joke, i love it!
I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING. TAKE MY MONEY
Do you have a button that when pressed it makes a beebing sound and gives a general reading?
It may be just skimming the surface, but still, it's a good overview of some of the high-level structure.
well done

I can't help but notice there's a "Dictator" button in your experimental section. You got any plans we should know about?
Bloody well done trying to explain all of that. My brain would implode for the first month trying to grasp what everything does and what works best with what. Do you ever find yourself getting complacent and just settling for a few settings you're comfortable with for sake of ease?
What do you use to make these things on the ipad, is it some sort of app that you customize or do you custom code them from scratch?
