Can I Climb Skyscraper in Prague? | Urban Climbing with Adam Ondra

Спорт

When @anthonys_london and I shot one perfect commercial, I just couldn't resist. After a long day of filming, I was absolutely blown away by this super cool and sharp arete on Prague's (Czech Republic) Filadelfie high-rise building (Skyitcher). Absolute praise to the architect! ⭐ The climbing is absolutely epic, very pumpy and unique even barefoot. So, I gave it a proper try. If you liked my legendary bridge climbing video, you'll love this. Let's see how it turned out. ✊

And yet, I don't think the most famous guy out there is free solo-ing (or did it) to influence or to get attention. For someone like Honnold or Potter I think it was the purity and challenge of the endeavor. Yes, they both wanted to make money and be professional climbers, but the motivation was pure.

I am a beginner climber, but I spent more than 1 year of constant training. Almost no breaks, 3 times a week. I am proud of what I can do now; I feel way stronger than I have ever been. However, when I tried to climb a 24-meter 5.11 (~6c+) route (after 5 other outdoor 5.9-5.11 routs, to my excuse), I failed the first time at around 20 meters height. So, I took a good break and went for the second try. And failed to try to grab the top carabiners. I was looking at the finish, but my hands gave up 10cm before it. Every single move is easy, the moves are way-way behind my most challenging boulder moves. But combining them together to such a long distance, especially in wet "sleepy" weather conditions, and voilà: muscles stop working like a switcher is turned off. I cannot imagine how would I feel trying to climb a building this tall... Incredible.

That was insane... trying the "top" with the spikes there is incredible effort. I do not think you should be disapponted at all.

This Ondra is a genuine guy. Even here in Finland, that climbing destination felt really creepy, in the spinal cord of a Finnish guy. When you have to stick to the sheet metal bent in the corner, and the window frames, and death is waiting below! 😮😮
