I’ve been watching from the beginning….. Now you are a golfer. You are so very close to the 5- 10 shot breakthrough that we all are working for… 10 handicap is only weeks away. …. Please keep it up for the masses that don’t get to work on this as a full time gig….

Finally another course vlog! You gotta add a bump and run to your arsenal - no point risking a skulled 56/60 degree wedge when you only have a few feet of fringe to clear and plenty of green to work with. On the other hand your bunker play has no business being this good this soon. And the putter is impressive too, especially on punched greens! Keep it up man, play more! No reason you shouldn't be playing at least a round a week. Experience will help teach you what to do in different situations and will help you translate your range swing to the course. I know you're worried about "engraining bad swing habits" but you take so few full swings during a round compared to all the swings you do on the range that it's really not a concern.

Post round analysis Opening hole, par 5, driver off tee got you out of position and your 2nd shot was probably too much club to a narrow opening in front of green. You still had a chance to get up and down from beside the green but just got too much of it. Just missed a good chance at par when putt slipped off right. I would've advised hitting 5 iron off the tee and just playing to hit green in 3 especially on opening hole with little warm up. 2nd hole, par 4, 330 yd - Driver off tee gets you out of position. Just flared it on approach shot - may have been trying to hit it too hard. Came out of shot on 44 yd chip to green, and then greens looked like they needed cut as your ball bounced all around on putt. 5 iron off tee would've left you a wedge in. Again I would've advised starting conservatively and 2 pars were easily within your grasp. Double bogey on #2 was tough pill to swallow. 3rd hole, par 3, 151 yds. Excellent chance to get up and down for par. I question putting from that far off the green. I would've chipped and your putt ended way short so I think there was too much long grass to get over with a putter. Later you claim that missing green on par 3's is automatic bogey or double. Look at it as chance to get up and down instead. +4 after 3 holes is tough start. 4th hole, 260 yd, par 4, laying up with 7 iron! Course management indeed! Can you maintain conservative approach? Use time between shots waiting on players ahead to complete your warm up with practice swing, chip shots on the tee box, etc. 5th hole, 250yd, par 4. Good call with shot choice off the tee although it went farther than planned. BIRDIE! Let's go! 6th hole, Iron off tee again, but too far? I guess you were planning on drawing it. Short approach but a chance to get up and down for bird. Nice par! -1 through holes 4-6! 7th hole, par 3. Tee shot into the beach but you seem to have sand shots down. Maybe one more club off that tee? Nice out! Chance to save par. Missed it right again. I still think you are cutting your putts a little which puts slice spin on your putts. 8th hole, par 4. Driver came out again and way right, tree in way as a result for 2nd shot. Driver hasn't worked for you today yet. Nice putt for bogey! 5 over so far. 9th hole, 167 yd par 3. Topped it off the tee. You can't let people watching freak you out. If you don't like the 6 iron then back off a 5. Flubbed chip led to chain reaction of a poor putt and then a double, ouch! Still only 2 doubles on front 9. Overall, driver let you down on three tee shots and maybe cost you 3 shots and a couple poor chips cost you a couple more. So three shots to club choice and two shots lost due to poor execution. Back nine analysis to follow.

Hi Jerome, just came across your youtube channel - love the content. I am on a similar trejectory to yourself. I picked up golf in 2023 - first obtained my handicap in April 2023 (GA 24.5) and i am playing of 7.3 now. My aim is to be scratch by April just to i can say i went from never playing golf to scratch in 12 months! i've been told many times that the trip from 7 - scratch will take longer than 24 - 7. But i was told many things when i started which weren't true - so i am eager to see when i land in April and how long before you get to scratch. Good luck.

Good content. Regarding 23:30 it depends what type of OB areas. White stakes or fence you can either re-tee hitting three or implement a newer rule called stroke and distance (a local rule put into effect in 2019). You cannot play white stakes like red stake/ hazard area. If you use stroke and distance, you are hitting four. Look up for details.

I would recommend practicing as follows: 15% full swing 35% putting (lag, and 8 feet) 50% short game (30 yards and in, become a PERFECT pitcher of the ball, learn flight-to-roll ratios with your clubs) Good luck in your journey. After watching this feels like you are close. Remember there are 18 different chances for par, if you don't get par on this hole, let it go and get par on the next one. Pars and birdies and no double bogies and 85 is very doable. On a production note if you put a graphic on the screen leave it up there long enough to read all the words, literally when you are editing read the graphic out loud. The paragraph on out-of-bounds was up there for like a second, nobody could have read that. The upper right graphic with your score and hole looks great, let that breathe up there, it is not bothering anyone and maybe you give the viewer a chance to read it. Love the tracer and aiming point graphics - solid.

10 - par 3, 195yd - chunked 6i. Chance to get up and down or at least save bogey. Good chance for par after chip. Good putt, broke some but not as much as expected on shaggy greens. 11 - par 4, 354 yd. Driver off the tee results in more spent strokes (2). Little chunky with the PW. Another chance to get up and down. Just a little too far. Blasts putt by and then another for a 3 putt. That was an 8, snowman. Round killer! 12 - par 5, 465 yd. Good drive off the tee. You should want to just get it in play rather than the 300 number. Scoring well means ignoring the ego tee shots. Topped the 2nd shot but no worries as only 156 yd to the green. 8i flared to right. Bad lie next to tree. I think that was a double bogey. 13 - par 4, 365 yd. Driver in play! Double chip but got 2nd one close and parred it. Don't give up on the Nebraska wedge matrix. Great lesson. Apply it. 14 - par 5, 572 yd. Good drive! Jordan is better than Lebron. Chunked it going after 2nd shot. Chunks often result from going at the ball too hard. Chunked another. Still can get up and down for par. Probably went for too much on punch out for under tree. Nice out of the bunker. Can we save bogey? Long putt but almost. Double. 15 - par 4, 334 yd. Driver off tee - flared it right. Skinned approach shot over the green leading to the double chip. Double bogey? 16 - par 4, 389 yd. 6i off tee. Punch shot back to fairway. Approach to left side of green. Can we 2 putt for bogey? First putt blasted by the hole leading to 3 putt and another double. 17 - par 3 132 yd. Just short of green. Can we get up and down? 2 putt for bogey. 18 - par 4? 205yd. Got a break on the forward tees. Chance for an easy birdie to finish. Sometime you putt for eagle and end up barely making par. That hurts. Final analysis - Driver cost you 5 shots. I'm going to guess you had 3 double chips. And I think at least 3 three putts. That's 11 shots right there which would've been a 79. I'd save driver for holes later in the round. You hit it better towards the end or just warm up sufficiently before the round. Eliminate the double chips and cut the three putts down to 1 or 2 a round. Bogey is fine. Double bogey is score killer. I don't think you converted one up and down from just off the green. Get to where you can convert 30-40% of those.

Jerome, on the 17th, you gotta get a bump & run w. a 7-9 iron in your toolbox! It will save you so many strokes with just a little practice! Also, if it was cold, that may be why a handful of shots were clean but short. Make sure you factor in the temps, the ball will fly shorter plus you may now swing as well with being colder. I live in North Dakota, so I call it golf seasons for me. I only get to play 6 months out of the year and when I can. I'm going to the same journey. I came to realize, like you about the short game. Have to practice that, because like you all I did was full swings and it was hard for me to control short distances, like 90 to 30yrds. Also, I live in a rural area so I have no access to a golf coach, unless I travel over 100 miles, one way. I bought this golf simulator called Swing logic. Playing 90 is really good. You can be proud of yourself! One advice, this is a thing that many beginners struggle with: At the course, you are tensed up, thats why your swing from the range is kind of gone. A) you have to stop caring so much, do whatever it takes to relax yourself. B) Stop hitting 100% power shots. Because you're tensed up, your body isn't turning well and because of that, your swing length feels wrong. You try to battle it by using your arms too much which then introduces weird curvature. Club up, swing 90% - it really helps. You could go even lower and swing 75% , one round, only 75% look at your score. It is boring but it is the way to go as a beginner. Control where the ball goes first, maximise distance later.

Here is the USGA rule for out of bounds tee shot - "If you hit your ball out of bounds or lose it (you have three minutes to search for your ball before it becomes lost), your only option is to go back to the spot of your previous stroke to play under stroke and distance. There are only a few exceptions to this when it is known or virtually certain what happened to your ball. There is also an optional Local Rule which provides an alternative to stroke and distance relief when it is in effect. This Local Rule is recommended for casual play and not for competitions involving highly-skilled players. If it is in effect, for two penalty strokes, you can estimate the spot where your ball is lost or went out of bounds and then find the nearest fairway edge that is not nearer the hole than the estimated spot. You can drop a ball in the fairway within two club-lengths of that fairway edge point, or anywhere between there and the estimated spot where your ball is lost or went out of bounds. If you think that your ball might be out bounds or that you might not find it, you can play a provisional ball to save time. You must announce that you are playing a provisional ball before doing so. If you are then unable to find your original ball, or you find it out of bounds, your provisional ball is your ball in play under stroke and distance, and you don’t have to take the time to walk all the way back to the spot of your previous stroke."

Which means either re-tee, hitting your third off the tee OR drop in the fairway where you will be hitting your 4th shot. He still counted the one he dropped as hitting 3rd from fairway. He had an 8 on that hole, not 7. It’s simple math I don’t know why this is so difficult for him to understand.

Love to see you walk the course with a half set and a light carry bag ! You will be more relaxed and less hurried ? Try easy clubs forget Driver 5 iron - get yourself one or two hybrids - chill do this occasionally -then back to normal see what happens ??

Play that course only using 7, 9, Aw, putter. Swing smooth and you will develop your inner Seve and break 85. Playing with Larry's also good to see.

Great channel you must start concentrating more once you get that club in your end forget the cameras there one thing you need to start doing is keeping a total of how many puts you actually take on the green if you're taking 30 or less that's not too bad for a mid-handicap if you're taking quite a few more the short game is what you need to be working on it never all comes together right away keep it up🤞

IMO, one of the ways to hit more consistent shots is to not be afraid to use a longer club. in the end, GIR is GIR. ego doesn't really matter when u are on the course.

No pre shot routine. You rush every shot. You could have taken 5 to 7 strokes off of that round by doing those 2 things alone. Right now, you are your own worst enemy on the golf course. When you feel rushed and do not do those 2 things, take a step back and regroup. Those 2 are a must for scratch golf unless you just have crazy born golf talent.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. He even says he's rushing every shot and still doesn't slow down and focus on what he's supposed to do. Decide which club to use for the next shot. Stand three yards behind the ball and pick a target for your shot, then look down four feet in front of your ball and pick a target on that line. Go to the ball and aim your club head towards your intermediate taget. Set up to the club and make sure you're aimed correctly. Clear your head of ANY thoughts other than hitting your shot towards the target. Swing back and make your shot. Three yards behind the ball is your thinking zone, once you get to the ball it's all about execution.

That might be true Alastair, but remember you've got to aim for the stars if you want to reach the clouds. His swing looks really good and if he takes on board what the coaches tell him he should be able to become a low handicap golfer, most likely below 5 in my opinion. I was able to get to a 3.6 handicap and if you ask any of my friends they will tell you I have no talent at all... 🤣🤣🤣@@AlastairBarker

You should spend more of your time practicing at Colina GC in City Heights. It’ll improve your short game tremendously. I could probably help you improve your game better than the coaches you’ve gone through.

Your swing has so much potential and I've commented before that you are losing your spine angle quite a bit during your downswing which is going to lead to flipping, outside in, and inconsistent low point and thus inconsistent strikes or direction. Your last couple of holes you were a bit better with your spine angle and you were also driving the trail side out towards the ball more through impact which balances loss of spine angle somewhat. With how many good elements there are in your swing, I feel like if you could address that weakness you would get a whole lot better in your ball striking very quickly. A golfer can only be as good as the hub of their swing is consistent; basically like a wheel of any kind. All really great swingers have a very consistent center of their motion around the center of their chest cavity behind their breastbones which forms the "hub" of the motion. If I may make a suggestion about improving this. Take account of where your spine is at address and be very aware that it stays in that relationship to the ball at least until impact. Many people lose spine angle by getting their hips closer to the ball at impact than at address. You on the other hand tend to keep your hip depth (which is good) but you raise your upper body through impact and so your upper chest is farther from the ball at impact than at address which will rob you of some power and consistency. Cheers.

I see one issue with your swing that I also recently discovered on mine. I ve been hitting the same inconsistent shots. I still need to work a lot on it but it may help you. I noticed your trail foot rolls on the backswing. Try to keep the pressure on the big toe side of things in your back swing (maybe even ask a coach if he thinks thats actually an issue in your swing or an ignorant message from a follower, lol). I hope it works for you. If not, please ignore as I am a beginner like you and discovering new things about my bad swing every day.

Jerome get fit for golf clubs. I think your swing has gotten to a point where you can get fitted for a full set of clubs. The new stuff starting to come out already. Fitting really do help and you will gain strokes. I highly recommend the LAB DF 2.1. Stroke feels different when using that putter (pretty much does the putting for you) with lie angle tech and for people who dont work on putting much, it helps with forward press and launch and well as face control. You get insane numbers on quintic with it. This putter will gain you strokes on the course and makes lag putting automatic which is good considering u have a lot of long putts on the course because your not putting you chips close enough to score. You will sink a lot of longer putts with the LAB. That double bend spider that you have imo is garbage, its way too light and i found i open and shut the face way too much in my backswing and at impact leading to inconsistent left and right misses. They have lab putters at pga superstore to try.

I don’t really have an excuse for playing poorly; but if I start poorly, it’s usually because I’m rushing and have to remind myself, ☝🏻“SLOW DOWN” Attitude is everything. If I get into a string of bad holes, it’s because “that’s golf” 🤷🏼‍♂️ … and why I’m a 14 handicap and NOT “scratch”. It seems if you’re playing well, there’s always one or two holes that jump up and bite you (pushing you back to your average); likewise, if not playing well, I can usually settle down and grab a birdie or two to (you guessed it) get back to my average. … that’s GOLF!
