Can I beat a STABLESS Hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokémon Leaf Green? (Poor Charmander...)
Pokémon Leaf Green Hardcore Nuzlocke - STABLESS
If you've played Pokémon games for any real amount of time, you probably already take STAB into account when choosing what move to use. For example, you know that Surf tends to be stronger when used by water Pokémon. But I decided to go without STAB for this video. This requires me to change up the way I normally play, and even use some Pokémon I haven't in quite a long time.
Hope you enjoy it!

imo pinsir is probably one of the best stabless mons in gen 3, since it literally learns no stab moves by levelup, has swords dance, and an absolutely monstrous attack stat, and not that bad of a tm learnset either too bad you didnt use him tho lmao
@NuzlockeJoe

A week ago, I might have disagreed. But I’m using Pinsir in my current run, and he is really awesome. He’s way faster than I thought, and his defense is pretty good too. Tbh, I’ve always kinda hated him because he’s not scyther, and I grew up with Red and then Fire red. So I had a huge bias that I’m only now realizing was completely misplaced. Pinsir would have been very helpful in this run

Starmie would be great. It has a wide movepool, with a lot of special moves (matching well with it's stats) outside it's own types; plus Recover for survivability.

Woah Joe! Long time no see. Honestly this is an extremely creative concept, and I think it works really well as a lot of Pokémon, especially normal types, have some nice coverage, like how Rhydon can learn Surf and Snorlax can learn Thunderbolt. Amazing video for sure, and I loved the nickname theme, I think that was amazing

While it it a ghost type move, it does not benefit from STAB, because it deals fixed damage. Just like sonic boom, and dragon rage, for example. But thanks for watching that far!

I’ll also hope it blows up more, but December and January were actually incredible months for me, basically doubling my subs so that was pretty nice
I guess the best way to make sure you don't use a stab move is to delete it from your Move Set with the Move Deleter and maybe get some stabless TMs that will fit your team best
@NuzlockeJoe
Жыл бұрын
That’s true, and I did use the move delete when I got to fuschia, but that is pretty late game. The tms are also a good idea, and I simply refused to learn moves that were STAB when I could avoid it

@@NuzlockeJoe it is a term used for runs like this.
South America in the pokeworld? Well, to be fair, this game was like the first Final Fantasy. Game Freak was not expecting it to blow up like it did, so...they had no worry about mixing real life places in it. Hell, originally you were supposed to fight the pokemon yourself before catching them. it's why so many sprites show whips and bug nets and what not. When the game took off they started making equivalents (America being Unova, Kalos being France, Sun and Moon Hawaii, etc)
Came back to rewatch this for fun. Snorlax would dominate with no stab. Belly drum rest EQ and shadow ball

In defense of the man with the diglet, his dialog is the same in gen 1, which is the same gen lickitongue...can't learn lick.
Fun idea. I thought you'd keep Raticate for a bit since it has a really good learnset. But I guess base 50 Sp. Attack isn't worth it.

I just recently completed my first hardcore nuzlocke of leaf green, I got lucky to get and catch a Nidoran in the safari zone. Nidoking is a great pokemon for a stabless run imo. It gets a ton of tms, and you can't even give it a good poison move pre e4 anyway. You can also use it as a special attacker, and you don't need to use a ground type move necessarily to make it good. In my run I did use earthquake with it once in the e4, but I used a physical Nidoking to sweep the poison trainer with shadow ball
@NuzlockeJoe

That’s funny, seeing a nidoking with shadow ball. I probably haven’t used a nidoran in years, I should give them another try.

So I 100% cheat to get rare candies because that would take way too long. EVs I typically don’t cheat for, and items I never do. That’s why in this run I’m limited on berries, because they are very rare in kanto
