    I presume it's just a case of there being more factors than just number of chromosomes. It's like how your legit lego blocks can potentially link with a cheap knockoff brand but not every variation of piece can interact, either the pegs link in but the blocks are a milometer higher or thicker. While there's differences in the genomes there's enough that match that an organism can still form, either the excess chromosomes are deactivated or produce aberrations in the organism.

    I liked how you explained everything - very well put. Now, as you said when chromosome anomalies occur, it often results in a miscarriage or as you called it, an apoptosis happens. However there are very common instances in human development where an extra chromosome is created and pregnancy goes to full term, for example individuals born with down's, Edwards' and Patau's syndromes all have 24 chromosomes. Now hypothetically thinking, and i truly do not mean to cause offend to anyone!!!! But if the only reason why we cannot artificially inseminate a primate with our DNA is due to an odd number of chromosomes, then do you think that redoing the insemination with an individual with 24 chromosomes, may result in a successful hybrid of primate and human?

  • @johnwitek4891

    Now explain how we have 99 percent of our DNA in common with chimps but can't reproduce? Also how do chimps and orangotangs (I didn't even try spelling it idek) have a 2 percent difference but look more alike then humans do to chimps? Also if we have 99 percent of our DNA in common with a different species then we must have a crazy low amount of difference between other humans and yet all humans look different. It's extremely illogical and I don't even have any credentials.

    @@lewisgamer637 Thanks for the article! It mainly tells me the dates of these chimps diverging without giving the evidence. They cannot know these dates without exact fossils, tons of them to be exact. Under "Fossil Evidence" in the article we see that it says clearly: "No fossil has yet conclusively been identified as the CHLCA". Therefore there is no standing proof let alone strong proof that any of this info holds credibility. These are assumptions made by scientists based on prior beliefs. Meaning that if they believe in everything atheists believe then they will make the assumption that events happened millions or billions of years ago to fit it into their timeline. It isn't facts, it's assumptions and opinions attempting to make sense of what they see. And all that they see is similarities between apes and humans. Their evidence for the shared DNA has been debunked and they have no fossil evidence.

    It does matter, but if it’s a substantial difference in the number of chromosomes between two animals. Humans only have one chromosome less in a single sexual cell than chimpanzees. We have 23 chromosomes in our sex cells while chimpanzees have 24, it’s not a significant difference, we could theoretically interbreed with them if we tried artificial insemination. We still don’t know yet, but only time will tell.

    This is a valid question and honestly, I was surprised the video did not mention this. We also see this in nature between close species where it doesn't work one way, but it does work the other way. Because of the human chromosome 2 fusion, it may be possible.

    @azzanine1710

    Very likely no, down syndrome is not a case of having an extra SET of chromosomes just that there's an extra chromosome on a particular set. Typical humans have 46 chromosomes, humans with down syndrome have 47, chimps have as described 48. That being said genetic similarity has minimal to do with the number of chromosomes, some bacteria have hundreds of thousands of chromosomes. There are a lot of other factors to consider, chemical and mechanical factors can prohibit breeding.

    The factors that allow cross species breeding are: 1. The number of chromosomes of the two parents, and 2. The content of genes they both have in their chromosomes and their arrangements! The Horse and Donkey have almost the same number of chromosomes (differ with only one precisely) and the genes are nearly the same. This allows at least interbreeding between the two animals to produce a Mule. But However, the mule is not a viable offspring, it cannot reproduce (infertile), because of it's chromosomal mismatch! This is same for animals like Ligers that are gotten from Lion/Tiger interbreeding. Animals like the Dogs and wolves interbreed to produce viable offsprings because they have the same number of chromosomes and the genes contents are same and differ only in some few arrangements. In general note, the closer animals are from each other on the biological tree,the closer number of chromosomes and genes they share and the closer the possibility of interbreeding. The Human Specie (Homo Sapiens) have no living co-specie and also no living creature of the same Genus (Homo) and none from the same family (Hominids). The closest relatives of Man is at the Order (Primates) eg the Chimpanzee. Although the Chimpanzee have almost the same number of chromosomes with Man, the number is genes and their arrangements are quite different with that of a man, which become Genetically impossible for Chromosomal Pairing during Fertilization. I hope this helps some curious minds.

  • @logenvestfold4143

    @logenvestfold4143

    Жыл бұрын

    That's not even remotely true. For one the way we group species within a genus is entirely arbitrary. Equus has three different sub-genera just to account for the sheer difference in chromosomal differences yet have hybridizations across the board. The genus Panthera includes some radically different morphological differences at the result of their hunting styles and diverge as far back as 11.6 million years ago and all capable of hybridization within and outside of their genus. Canis includes several species than can interbreed with three other genera, while some within the same genus are incapable of interbreeding. The great ape family split from lesser apes 12-15 million years ago with 11-12 million years ago being the common ancestor of all great apes (including humans). The way we organize Panthera genus indicates we could group all the great apes under one genus if we wanted to. Secondly, as stated above with Equus chromosome count is irrelevant. And finally, hybridization can occur outside of the genus and across the taxonomic family as seen in the hybrid between jaguars and pumas. Theoretically humans could not only breed with chimpanzees but all ape species.
