Report on the following "European" countries first ... Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine. Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Turkey, and Vatican City ... especially the last one. Just because most of 'western' Europe do, doesn't mean it is universal values.

? Those countries are not defying their own high courts in implementation of rights. And for the EU members, they indeed do recognize same-sex spouses for the purposes of immigration and family repatriation as a harmonized rule. "doesn't mean it is universal values." We all know China doesn't respect the UNDHR, but Hong Kong not doing so is actually noteworthy.

I mistakenly believed that that Kazakhstan is among the list of countries that were part of or being actively courted by western Europe (EU or NATO) to join in the circlement of Russia, while Russia is de facto excluded from Europe due to the current situation. However, it is also the highest court's right and responsibility to determine which law is illegal under the Basic Law (the city's mini constitution). Since the Basic Law protects people of all gender orientations, the Highest Court has decided that the current system is discriminatory against non-heterosexual people and it is within the courts right that they demand this be changed.

Second of all, sorry, but in Chinese cultures for thousands of years marriage has not been between a man and a woman, but between a man and his 3 wifes and his 4 concubines. Polygamy was only outlawed in Hong Kong as late as 1971 (changing the definition of what marriage is). And in olden times women were expected to have 3 obediences and 4 virtues and so on. Times change and so must society and so must we, we can't run the clock backwards.

In the west, it all started with give us the right the get married and to love who we love. Now you get cancelled for saying a man can't be a woman and not accepting the rainbow ideology

Its almost like society becomes more progressive the more educated, tolerant, and compassionate people are. A century ago western society was overtly racist and women were just getting the right to vote. We can only hope that the essential human rights of LGBT people continue to be expanded across the world in places like Hong Kong. Still a lot of work ahead even in Western Europe.
