Can AVERAGE people run an ULTRAMARATHON || Our Race Experience || Black Canyon 60K

Thanks for joining us on our race day, we are so happy to be able to share the best day of our lives with you!
We hope you had as much fun watching this video as we did running almost 40 miles on the Black Canyon Trail in Arizona!
No doubt was training for our first ultramarathon, one of the hardest things Bryce and I have done but going through 24 weeks showed us that if we stick our mind to something we can achieve great things.
If you would like to support us in anymore races or help elevate this channel, we have started a Patreon account to create a better viewing experience for you! All proceeds will go towards video production.

However your support by subscribing, liking, and commenting on our video is also an awesome way to help our channel grow!
Thank you for running with us and we can't wait to see you on the next one!

This is an AMAZING video! Maybe one of the best ones out there. I love your passion and your love for life. If people watched stuff like this rather than (whatever they are watching) the world would be a better place. Also note - You are an average ultra runner. Which means, you are "average" within the 1% (or less) of people who could even think about lining up for an ultra let alone complete one. Amazing accomplishment and congrats on the engagement. Very well done.

This was the GREATEST day ever!! I still get tears when I think about it. I am forever inspired by yalls dedication, hard work, and commitment. Y’all always had a long term vision and even in the hardest, darkest, most challenging parts you were patient and kind with yourselves knowing this was the way to achieve the big goal. I love you both very much and am excited for your journey together both in future races and in life! 🖤

First my eyes got moist when Bryce opened the 'Pain Cave' note, then tears stared accumulating when you crossed the finish line holding hands and tears started in flowing when Bryce got down on his knee! You two make a great pair supporting each other each step of the way. Love and hugs to you both, Betty

I did however get a good 6 hours of sleep though. 40 minute aid station stop 😱 I had the mentality I just wanted to finish as fast as possible. I would grab some goodies and just start walking. If I would of sat down I wouldn't of been able to get back up. Sorry for the shin splints I had tight calves but never turned into a cramp or didn't have to worry about the shin splints. All in all you guys did awesome. & That note you guys had was so cool, my wife and kids was sending me videos and that really hit me when I was around mile 28-32. I really enjoyed this. ❤️

I know I have never met either of you I am BEYOND HAPPY for you both. In running your first Ultra (even the ups and down) and now the engagement. Congrats to you both. As for maybe a 50 miler like I said before there is one in July that runs from Carlton MN to the Duluth Zoo and back. It is called the Voyager 50. I am not to far away from there and would come crew you both. Or if you really want something longer put your name on the Mines of Spain 100k list for October in Iowa. I have run this looped course now two times and signed up for a third. It is the greatest race. Also if you have a summer or fall Minnesota race let me know I sure can crew or pace you both.

A great first 50 miler is the American River 50 (AR50) in the Sacramento area. For a tougher, but much more scenic, run, check out the Tahoe Rim Trail 50 mile (TRT100). And when you're ready for the 100k distance, without a doubt, the Miwok 100k. Congratulations on your engagement and ultra finish!

@@averagewanderers I just ran AR 50 and I second this recommendation! First half is basically a road marathon.

Nice job! I recently signed up for my first 50 miler and am in a 26 week training block. How many total miles did you two run in your training and what was your peak week?

That is so awesome to hear you are going for a 50 miler, you are going to do awesome! I think we were right under 600 miles for our training period and peaked at about 40 miles in the training week, others we talked to got up to 50 miles in the week. We also threw in some long mountain biking mileages in the beginning to help with cardio. For our longest run we ran up to 22 miles in one go but we did a weekend where we did 20 miles one day and 5 miles the next. I think what helped us the most was completing 5 weekends in a row of 20 mile runs but not sure if that works for everyone! Hopefully this is helpful info for you!

I think 40 to 50 was pretty common for others we talked too on the run, who also were running their first race.

I'm curious, can anyone sign up for this event? Like do you have to qualify a certain time to sign up?

We ran the 60k and I believe anyone can sign up for that, I think if you are trying to compete for the golden ticket in the 100k, you probably need to have some sort of qualification but I’m also not 100% sure on that! Hopefully that was some what helpful 😂

Misleading title, she has ran 8 marathons! She's not average people by any means

I had run that many marathons but running on a road is way different then running on an uneven trail. I had also had knee surgery which created my quad to completely atrophy, which then developed tendinitis in my patella and quad tendons and was not able to run for 6 years which led to a weight gain over 30lbs. Sure did I have running experience prior, yes but I also had to relearn and gain everything back to run that race. So I would say I am pretty average. In the terms of running was my time anywhere near the top runners for that course, heck no haha we pretty much finished near the end of the pack so I think that also qualifies me as pretty average.
