Most anxiety sufferers don’t have vertigo because vertigo is severe spinning where you can’t even get up. Most feel this off balance feeling which is all down to the nervous system being exhausted and over sensitive. Deep breathing or meditation helps me with this massively.

I cannot really exactly explain what I feel but you know when you do a long big stretch in the morning and when you’re done stretching you feel really dizzy/out of it? I feel like 1/10 of that but all day long. If I look around quickly, I feel slightly off balance. If I’m in a bright setting, im off balance especially grocery stores. I appear normal on the outside but on the inside I’m constantly in a small battle to keep it together. I don’t suffer from anxiety at all and never have. And I’ve had this issue for years off and on. This past week it has gotten pretty bad which is finally why I’m here trying to do my research. This really sucks

@@vaibhavsaraf3261 only way I was able to overcome this is drinking a lot less alcohol, staying hydrated, implementing teas to my diet, and exercising even if it’s jus exercising a small amount. It truly goes a long way. Also, I’ve learned to simply except and anticipate my dizziness almost every time I go to a grocery story where there is a lot of bright light, colors, shapes and isles. If I look around quickly in that setting, I’m almost always feeling a slight off balance. Now that I prepare myself before hand, it’s become a lot more manageable and I don’t feel as frustrated/scared. After more research, I was able to find something called “supermarket syndrome”. It’s apparently pretty common and hits the nail on the head of how I start to feel when I’m in a setting like that. Focus on positive thoughts, eat better, treat your body and mind right, and you’ll be fine. Doing that has helped me dramatically

Staying in will make it worse. You have to to gradually go out. Go out by yourself, you’ll feel more comfortable by yourself, being around will set off the anxiety more. Start driving again but non highway roads so you can stop frequently. The more you stay in the harder it’s going to be. I feel ever since Covid, anxiety has been worse because everyone was cut off from the world, and staying inside is doing just that. I would start by jogging around the block, finding a hobby, staying busy.

He forgot the freeze response. Fight and flight are the most common stress responses and are part of the sympathetic nervous system however if fight and flight aren't an option, the dorsal vagal from the parasympathetic nervous system takes over (freeze, flop, faint). This is less common and more often associated with children and traumatic situations. Although its very unlikely, a small percentage of people can experience fainting from anxiety but it could also be due to other factors such as a medical condition, irregular breathing and oxygen levels or extreme fear and stress. As someone who has both Vertigo and severe Anxiety i can definitely say the two are very diffrent sensations of dizzyness one is like the world itself and even gravity is pulling you (Vertigo) the other is a little dizzyness like you spun around on swings as a kid so much lighter (Anxiety)

I had this for many months along with vertigo, what helps me is doing more physical activity, i started working out inspite of the offbalance feeling. and started going for walks, I slowly built it up, slowly now i have overcome the off balance, vertigo feeling. tho sometimes it comes back but so slight that it doesn bother me anymore. I also apply the 4-4-6 belly breathing technique when i stand in line or for long periods of time. helps to calm me.

You are absolutely right and I share some of your experience. I too was feeling intense dizziness (anxiety and depression related) and bedridden for 2-3 months. I finally could not take it any longer and decided to begin with walks (painful), then jogging and finally pushing myself a bit more. The dizziness/ anxiety started fading away. I also still get them quite often but I don’t let it reach the strength from the past, keep fighting my friends you can overcome this

What if the dizziness and fainting feeling is there all the time even when youre not panicking and heart rate is normal. This is why I worry that there is something going on with my brain.
