    Thank you for sharing. Can you provide more information on LCIS.

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    5 ай бұрын

    LCIS (lobular carcinoma in situ) is, confusingly, not cancer. Many people have advocated for changing the name. LCIS is associated with a higher risk of developing breast cancer, and some people do have invasive cancer. Overall, LCIS without invasive cancer is not treated with extensive surgery or radiation therapy. People with LCIS are offered endocrine therapy to decrease the risk of developing breast cancer in the side of the LCIS or in the other breast.

    Thank you for these informative videos; they have helped me a great deal throughout my cancer ordeal. This might be a dumb question, but do topical antioxidants pose any risks for recurrence? I hade stage 1 cancer and had a lumpectomy and radiation. I try to eat well, and don't take any antioxidant supplements, however, I do use a topical CoQ10 serum on my face, décolletage and arms (though not on my breasts). It's a small amount, and I don't use it religiously, but do topicals pose any threat? I've also been considering using a vitamin C serum. Thanks again.

    I found it a bit confusing when you referred to supplements as including food. I was told that eating whatever food was fine during radiation but not to take the extra supplementation through pills etc. I am now feeling rather nervous because I eat blueberries and strawberries every day for breakfast and I know they are high In antioxidents. I did not supplement with any pills or such. Did I endanger myself by eating an otherwise healthy diet?

  • @yerbba

    Thanks for asking for clarification. Antioxidants are present in food naturally. Supplements are things that are not in the diet. A diet with antioxidants does not have the super high doses of antioxidants that people try to achieve with supplements.

    All your videos are great. I am now 7 weeks post op going for radiotherapy in a month. I feel tired and not focused at all. I need to take B complex supplements. Is it safe at least during this month before radiotherapy treatment? In general I take vit D3+k2, Mg glycinate and Omega3 (the later from time to time). Another q: what about natural turmeric? Moringa powder? Chlorophyll supplement? Please advise Thank you so much

    Ideally, your vitamins and minerals (collectively called "micronutrients") would come from food (unprocessed). During radiation therapy, it is preferable to stop B vitamins and other antioxidants.

    Last year I was diagnosed with pernicious anaemia due to testing positive for intrinsic factor antibodies. I am on regular b12 injections. I’ve just been diagnosed T2 at the moment but haven’t even seen surgeon or oncologist yet 4cm IDC right breast. I am concerned about continuing the b12 injections particularly during treatment because of the study you refer to and the mortality rates of those supplementing with b12. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place I need b12 to live and more than the current guidelines suggest to thrive but if the balance is wrong my chances of survival are much lower than average. Do you have any thoughts my situation?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    5 ай бұрын

    Pernicious anemia is a rare condition in which someone cannot absorb B12 from the diet. In the case of pernicious anemia, vitamin B12 by injection or really high doses by mouth is necessary for the formation of blood cells and other critical functions in the body. In pernicious anemia, vitamin B12 is not considered a supplement. Hope this is helpful.

    In general, it is considered preferable to get micronutrients, including antioxidants, in food rather than in products like supplements.

    What about Q10 is it considered antioxidant Dr. Griggs? I'm on Tamoxifen. Thank you in andvance!

    Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is indeed known as an antioxidant and is used by the body for growth and maintenance. However, when it comes to combining supplements like CoQ10 with treatments like tamoxifen, it's essential to proceed with caution.

    Everything cycles, antioxidants work on a cycle. You need oxidation cycling In order for antioxidants to work. One gets better nutritional uptake from foods, in context of fasting.

    Your point about antioxidants is important; they do work best when integrated into a balanced diet. The interplay between oxidation and antioxidants is complex but crucial.

    I’m starting my radiation treatment in a week, is drinking chaga tea considered a supplement?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    Ай бұрын

    Chaga tea is generally considered safe for most people when consumed in moderate amounts. However, because it acts as an antioxidant, there is some concern that high levels of antioxidants might interfere with the effectiveness of radiation therapy and certain chemotherapy treatments. It's crucial to consult with your medical team before starting chaga tea or any new supplement, especially during cancer treatment.

    Is iron and vitamin b12 antioxidant?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    3 ай бұрын

    Iron is not an antioxidant. Unless someone is iron deficient, however, iron supplements should be avoided outside of a daily vitamin if someone has been advised to take a daily vitamin. B12 may have antioxidant properties.
