    Excellent video - very good to know they don't interfere with endocrine therapy! And you are 100% correct that patients want to feel like they are at least trying something to prevent recurrence. Thank you!

    I love these videos regarding nutritional supps. We know that most doctors don’t have much nutritional training and a lot of us feel helpless when all we know is pharmaceuticals thrown at us that have terrible side effects. I know you can’t recommend anything to take in place of standard of care but we could know some facts about studies on things we might take in conjunction with conventional therapies. Thank you.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You are right that nutrition training is quite lacking in medical school and medical training.

    Hello Dr Griggs, I want to say thank you for the great information that you provide on your channel, it certainly has helped me navigate my incidence of breast cancer. I use flax but I’ll try to include it more often in my diet. I do have a question for you: Ive been a blood donor for many years but obviously stopped during treatment. My question is: is there any point that I can resume donating - or is that forever right out (which would make a lot of sense)?

    Each blood bank has different rules. It would be worth asking the one where you donated. It's likely that at some point you'll be able to donate again. This is so important for many people.

    Wow. I just read an article from Dr. Mercola and he strongly advises against eating flaxseeds. Something about same chemicals in paint or used to be??? I was adding it each day to smoothies thinking it was good for me. I have invasive carcinoma Estrogen positive. Operation next Thurs. 6/13. It’s difficult navigation the contradictions in medicine and nutrition.

    Dr. Mercola, while popular, has been named one of the "disinformation dozen" for making false claims about many things. This makes it hard to know how to interpret this recommendation.

    Linseed oil from the flax seed is used in oil paints along with other resins or solvents. As an artist I highly recommend you do not drink linseed oil produced for artists. Lol! However, Dr. Mercola probably doesn't understand the manufacturing of linseed oil and it's industrial use , so maybe that's why he advises against it. Just be aware that flax seed can quickly go rancid and then you don't want to eat them. Keep them in a cool, dark and dry place or store in freezer. Edible flax seed oil can go rancid, keep in refrigerator and don't cook with it. You can search for this info too to verify what I'm saying.

    Hi Doctor. Can someone get the effect of lymphedema after radiation therapy?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    5 ай бұрын

    The combination of surgery and radiation therapy is associated with lymphedema. It's important to know that lymphedema can occur at any time after the initial treatment so that, if this happens, you can get medical attention as soon as possible. Thank you for watching.

    What about tumeric capsules?

    The data on turmeric is mixed. Most people do not recommend turmeric unless it's in food or if someone is on a clinical trial.

    I am currently on Tamoxifen. Starting the 3rd month of it. Will flaxseed supplements or fish oil supplements reduce or increase my chance of my cancer returning. I’m confused.

    It's confusing because the studies are small (tiny), so it is not possible to draw firm conclusions about any benefit. There are theoretical reasons to think that these foods may be of benefit, and there is no evidence of harm at this point. Watch this space...we'll update this video if there are any changes in scientific evidence.

    What if you have Estrogen positive Breast Cancer? Do flaxseeds immitate Estrogen?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    While more clinical research is still needed, the available evidence suggests that regular dietary intake of flaxseeds may help reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence by inhibiting tumor growth and progression. The concern is that flax seeds may displace tamoxifen from estrogen receptors, so extra flax seeds may not be helpful in people on tamoxifen.

    Madam, whether flax seeds contain phytoestrogens, thus increasing the risk of breast cancer?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    5 ай бұрын

    Phytoestrogens are interesting. They appear to have estrogen receptor affinity that is lower than the body's own estrogen, so they may keep the body's estrogen from binding to estrogen receptors. In a way, they would then be acting like tamoxifen, which decreases the risk of breast cancer.

    Does cooking flaxseeds reduce its nutritional value?

  • @yerbba

    @yerbba

    Ай бұрын

    Cooking flaxseeds can slightly alter their nutritional profile, particularly the omega-3 fatty acids they contain, which are sensitive to heat. However, cooking can also help make other nutrients more digestible. Thanks for watching.
