Good. I’m glad activation lock is a thing. Thieves and pickpockets in my area stopped targeting iPhones and phones in general for that very reason.

That’s the reason they made it in the first place. I just hate that some people will sell their phone but still be signed into their account, so unless you had a way of contacting the seller, you’d be kind of stuck

@@halami2149 especially when you're sold old devices. Like who tf would steal an iPhone 4 to make profit? I have tons of those laying around at home all with Icloud lock. So they're just sitting there on the shelf for looks. Can't really use them (even though you couldn't really use them anyway cause of their age)

@@dwaynethomas9265 but why are you trying to bypass iCloud in the first place if you’re the owner of the device? Something doesn’t smell right in my opinion. The iPhone is definitely stolen if someone is trying to remove something from it that can only be removed by the owner who put it on there. Why not just phone Apple themselves to unlock iCloud for you if you’re the owner of the device? It just says “THIEF” end of. I think you’re blind and don’t pickup on your own stupidity of asking such a daft question. It’s like asking the police how to rob the bank next door and ask them to come and watch..

Apple needs to chill with some of these locks. Like they should be able to contact the owner through iCloud. Stating location and reason, so the owner could drop by to catch the culprit if there is a stolen device or not.

Activation lock can be removed by submitting proof of purchase. That's is why always ask for a invoice copy of purchasing an iPhone or make sure the primary device owner have removed the device from their account.

Allow me to translate: Yes, but = NO. Or having fun with a phone without any connection or your own account.

I saw a great proposal for how to fix this. The buyer has to contact apple. Apple contacts the previous owner who's icloud is on the device. The previous owner can either let them unlock it or keep it locked. If the owner doesn't respond within a week, it is assumed they won't respond, and the device is unlocked.

I'm glad that PRG JailBreaks is getting more vids. And gotta be one of my favourite tech channels out there!

How to create e waste 101

REWA showed that if you replace the storage chip, and overwrite the data to a clean new chip and solder that one on the board you have a unlocked cellphone. My local shop around the corner offers this service to this date for at least iPhone 12 and lower.

You can but you will need proof of purchase. If you do, you will have to bring it to a apple location. The manager will check the purchase and see if he or she will unlock the phone.

I have some advice for people who buy a new phone, please restart your phone to test the jailbroken status, most of the time the jailbreak iphone cannot survive restart and needs to be jailbroken again, and make sure you get to enter your own icloud infront of the seller before leaving

There's a lot of untethered jailbreaks out there, unless things have changed in recent years. I haven't been messing around with jailbreaking stuff since the iOS 8 era.

I read that M1 chip can be unlocked by re-soldering , reprograming and soldering again. Maybe A12 and higher can be unlocked the same way ?

Apple should insert a Program or Chip that if a person’s phone is stolen, He or She can destroy the phone completely frying what’s on the motherboard rendering it useless to the thief.

You should be able to switch out the logic board for a icloud unlocked one.

Hey! I just wanted to add something: It is possible to unlock an iphone that is locked with icloud by buying and replacing with an unlocked motherboard. There are plenty of them available on aliexpress for example... The only problem is that face id is linked to the motherboard so by changing it we lose face id, unless we take a combo motherboard / face id which is also available! It works but it has an important cost, and even more important if you want to keep face id. I don't advise this method because we are never sure of anything but as a last resort it could be useful....

In high school, I found an iPhone on the floor. I kept it instead of returning it cause why tf would I give a away an iPhone, are you stupid? 😂 but it was iCloud locked. I held onto it for months and months powered off. One day I check up on it just to see if anything was different, and sure enough. The iCloud Lock Screen was gone. I was free to use the iphone now. It was mine. However it was blacklisted because the owner must’ve used the findmy app or contacted apple support to remove that phone IMEI from their account. Which in turn lifted the lock. However, like Guru said, I was unable to use mobile data on it. So it was basically just a heavy iPod. Then I sold it to some random guy.

I'm really happy I have an android.

A few years ago my little cousin died in a car accident. Her phone was locked and her parents wanted her last photos. I found someone in Hong Kong that “unlocked” the phone but he actually reset the motherboard. Phone could be used again but was wiped, so it was useless.

The most dump thing I did on my old iPhone was that I deleted my another Apple ID without logging out from my old iPhone and now it’s locked forever, it asks me to login to that Apple ID every time I use that but since the ID was deleted, every time I tryna login it said fail to connect :(

Actually apple can take the activation lock off now. However you have to have proof that you bought the device from a “reputable” source. Now what counts as reputable is a good question.

It can be undone, you simply need iTunes, and several hours of time

If you are able to execute the proper installation of CFW that isn't Apple os then maybe you will be fine but they still might be able to send out a ping that will permanently fry some of the hardware. They have been able to do things like that for years now but it's not a guarantee and what makes it less likely that they will send out that kind of ping once you have CFW installed is that most people don't have any kind of information or access that would put them in danger or be something that they would find particularly important.
