Can an Employee Be Fired for Giving Notice of Resignation?

Many employees who decide to leave their jobs try to give their employers a reasonable notice period - often two weeks. But is an employer required to let the departing employee work those two weeks? And what if an employment contract requires the employee to give a specific amount of notice? Does the employer have to compensate the employee for that notice period under those circumstances? We answer those questions here.

I gave my two weeks notice last week and my manager got fired and I have been treated like garbage by the owner ever since, but I’m old school and I’ll work out the next week and be done with my narcissistic boss

If you work in an at will state you can be fired without cause or if you give notice. You can't take any legal action against them.
