College students are considered legal adults in nearly every country in the world.. And if today's adults can't even name a country besides the U.S. , Canada, Mexico, etc, This should be a matter of concern. Do they plan to just live in North America their whole life, never go traveling elsewhere ? I think not.

@@CaptainAmerica001 Cool. I can name all nations on a certain continent depending on which one you ask. For both Americas and Oceania, I can name them all nearly no problem.. But for Europe.. It's better to split into regions, like the Northern, Balkans, Western, Baltics, etc. And for Asia, splitting it into regions and subcontinents too is the best idea. I don't wanna call Uzbekistan twice lol For Africa.... I can't. I need a visual.

It's easy to name five countries in Africa. I will name Egypt; Clark Kent, I will name the Congo; Betty Davis, I will name South Africa; Einstein, I will name Nigeria; Mahatma Gandhi, And I will name Zimbabwe; Neil Armstrong. There I did just exactly what he said, I named five countries in Africa. Naming countries is so much easier than remembering what their names already are.

I guess I'd be saying "Sweden, Finland, Denmark, England, Ireland and The Netherlands" simply because I'm more familiar with northern Europe than central Europe. I know I named six because I got kinda carried away! I am ashamed because my parents spent a few years living in Switzerland so I should be more familiar with the countries bordering Switzerland. However I know on a blank map exactly where Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are. My memory is very wonky. 🙄

In most countries, an 8 year old could name 10 African countries, you learn that stuff in primary school!

I bet you are from UK. Anyone outside UK doesn't care if you call it England, UK, Britain, that's a synonym for most. Yes, we know there are Welch, Ireland, but it doesn't matter if we just want to say a country. To be fair I have read about what is Britain/UK/England and that's just way too complicated so in the end no one cares, everyone still understands what people mean.

6:10 I mean if you ask college students, people in my university could probably easily name over 100 countries and at least 5 to 10 on every continent (besides Oceania and North America maybe, where it is hard to name 5)

Eg: most Student Answered India as in ASIA, it's a Fact that After China, Indian Student makes The Bulk in FOREIGN student in tha Campus. . @@heroeus8173 Remember that the question "Where are you from?" can prompt all sorts of responses. As one's ancestors/descendants may be from elsewhere, however, they have grown up and identified as Americans. So it is not always easy to distinguish.

I think the question you should really be asking is why Canadians aren't also called Americans. Anyway, you should take your grievances up with the rest of the world since they're the ones who decided to call Americans "Americans." The U.S. didn't start calling themselves that until the rest of the world did.

Is funny to think that I learned much more of geography with games and anime than school, for example the names of the continents from Terraria saga.

We people from other countries other than USA learn about the world & our neighbors. The US doesnt seem teach its people about the world & its people. Im not American but i live in one of its territories & even here in our schools its sad. Our textbooks is basically just about the US & how the world wants to be like the US.

Geography isn't just about knowing countries in certain continents, but also where they're located in the continent, the countries they border, the population, etc. So if you asked them to point out the countries they just said they wouldn't be able to because the USA school system sucks.

Anyone who uses these 2 terms as such is due to ignorance, conceitedness, laziness, stubbornness, indoctrination, and/or arrogance! Furthermore, an American is from the Continent of América!👍

I can name most countries in most continent. Except Africa. Maybe three, I could name a bit more but I wouldn't know where they are. :(

​@@Amirpdd Exactly. As soon as you said you were asking tertiary education students I knew there would be a lot more correct answers than " people on the street ". Having said that most of the other students were destroyed by the guy non American. It would also be interesting to see how many can point to them on a map instead of just reciting names. Dude from Lagos could probably point them out and name all the capitals as well.

People here did get a lot correct... after hesitating and getting some incorrect answers. I would expect people on a college campus to namer at least 50 countries on all continents! (I know that would be a boring video!)
