Thank you for this video. Seems intimidating when you’ve never messed with a shock replacement but your video had me finished with my swap out in a little over an hour.

I bought progressive rear shocks for my 97 Valkyrie what a difference. It stiffened up the ride and the handling in the corners greatly improved. I wonder if progressive makes a shock for the Spyder???

Hope you enjoy your new rear shock. I remember you were also adding new front tires. Regarding metric vs. SAE reasoning=whatever is less money!

Its been a long time that I worked on something that had both metric and SAE!! I have not replaced the front tire yet. Son in-low should be returning from Iraq so we have been very busy getting my daughter ready for the move back to Fort Polk Louisiana!

I can do that he is a great young man doing what he needs to to support his new family! I can't wait to have them installed it should take the rest of the vibration out of the spyder. I love the new rear shock it has really improved traction and improved drivability!

Greatrydes the shock should have been standard IMHO.

I agree the 2 up should be the standard shock with the fox the first upgrade.

Is that the ebay occasional 2 up shock? I just bought a F3 TODAY and the rear is way to soft with my wife on back. What do you recommend

This is the BRP 2 up shock! It's not bad but its still on the soft side! If you do a lot of 2 up rides I would look at the Fox rear shock..I believe it's adjustable! When i have my 13 year old on the back the shock is ok but with the wife and I it is still very soft. The shock is good as a upgrade if you are a solo rider. I found mine on Amazon 200.00!

So the old shock that you removed, is there some sort of adjustment to stiffen or loosen it? If so I don't see it. Trying to figure out how to adjust mine on my 22 F3T. Thanks

So the shock I replaced was on my F3, not the F3T. There is no adjust ment on ether shock, but under the rear seat on the F3T, you will find a Shrader valve that you can add air. If you can find it, I can send you a pic or even make a video.

@@spyderryder I'd appreciate if you could short video and I can then know where its at. I removed the driver seat and the passenger seat but didn't see it. I did see a plastic box with what I thought was a switch under the passenger seat thinking it might let the computer know when someone is sitting on the rear. Thanks for your help, the manual in my opinion is not that well written.

So I have a video that shows the air valve on the spyder F3T. It's in my how to videos and its the video how to remove the rear wheel gone wrong. Got to min 3:09 and you will see it. You do have an F3T right?

In my latest vid, my riding buddies are talking about the shocks on a new F3 because when riding there was a noticeable bounce in the rear. I will forward this vid to him. Good Show!!

So if the shock is the same, then why cant i just buy the spring for $50, instead of replacing a perfectly good identical shock for $199? When all i need is a spring compression tool...

  • @spyderryder

Yes the shock is the same so if you shock in still good then all you have to do is change the spring. My shock was very soft and needed changed so bought the loaded shock.
