The ball is in the Taliban's court. All Taliban need to do is conduct a free and fair general election and let the people of Afghanistan elect a government to represent them. As soon as this happens, foreign countries will recognize this government and start working with it. Unfortunately, this will not happen as the Taliban care more about their tyranny than the lives of the Afgan people. In essence, the blood of starving Afghans is on the Taliban's hands.

@@sheikhashad7288 Taliban took power by force and deposed a democratically elected government; they also broke their agreement with the international community by doing so. Taliban knew that there will be consequences to their actions, but they valued their tyranny more than their word and the lives of the Afghan people. Unfortunately, there is no way to help Afghan people, without recognizing the Taliban government - which is unacceptable, given the above. However, there is a very easy way out of this - Taliban should conduct free and fair elections to help form a government representing the will of the Afghan people. The international community will be happy to work with this government and resolve this humanitarian crisis. Instead of begging foreign powers to recognize the Taliban government in the guise of helping Afghan people, we should ask the Taliban to get out of the way - this is how we can save Afghan lives.

If we give aid to them it empowers the Taliban even more and causes more problems than it solves. Something has to give though. I feel horrible for the good people of Afghanistan. The situation is similar in north Korea. It's impossible to help the good people because the tyrannical government that is in charge takes everything and gains more power in the process.

@@kodvavi150 I am not an American so I cannot even put any voter pressure on the US position. The real problem is, what would the Taliban do with any money. They have already taken the wheat that was donated by India and using it as a form of currency to get people to do what they want. Also, I have seen no photos of Taliban starving - what do they eat ?.. I would also agree the the whole Afghanistan situation is a mess and some easing of sanctions should take place, but the other side of the argument is, you wanted the US out - so why should they not take their financial means and tools with them - not saying what is right or wrong here. I have often asked, why is there not an EU of the middle eastern regions - this would carry significant power in the world.. I would say the reason is that people are always fighting among themselves.. same as the AU, the African Union - it is useless... Europe was always having wars, one reason for forming the EU, to stop another war in Europe... for now, someone needs to get imaginative and look for alternative ways of moving money or mechanisms to allow aid from those who wish to give it, to arrive in Afghanistan.. but aid is only going to solve a few empty stomachs now... Afghanistan has no economy yet it's population has grown from 9 million in 1960 to 38 million now. Gifted aid is going to solve nothing other than to remove some immediate hunger.. the bigger problems I do not see being resolved and you could end up in a new civil war...

If Taliban don't give food to there own soldiers, then who will defend Afghanistan against Invasion? It is more compulsory to give food to Soldiers, then normal person in the country for safety reasons. Recently, there has been a baby in our family and I feel so protective towards him . When I see these children , it just breaks my heart. For the mother as well. It is truly excruciating to see your baby suffer . I wish I could do much much more for them .

If the new government wants sanctions to be removed then follow those treaties. What are you talking about “no access to their own money”. Many Afghan are leaving. Those who can't relies on Afghanistan to function properly. What excuse does America has? Terrorist? Genocide? @@Daiman01 bibi jan even most of afghans dont know, even you wont see with that weird eyes. Im talking what i saw when i was little child, AFGHANS are generous and say nothing but help, but pakistan uses for other purposes.

How the world specially Islamic world can sleep at night while their brothers are hungry and everyone accepted the fact that its ok to freeze someone’s money and allow them to die of hunger. shame to what we have became as a people, People it’s time to wake up and help one another before a day will come that no amount of money will avail anyone and everyone will be judged fairly for what they have or haven’t done.

The problem isn't just the sanctions. It's also on account of the Taliban. Currently, they are on a roll in firing educated folk from their jobs and replacing them with illiterates, and they've also excluded the other half of their country (women) from working. A country cannot run on illiterates or just 1 ethnic or gender group. An economy in today's world cannot survive on just 1 gender or ethnic group or on people who don't know what they're doing. Also, a country cannot survive if the ruling body is scaring its people off (Afghans are still flocking to the passport offices for passports and are still wanting to leave Afghanistan). The Taliban just needs to sit back, take a breath, and let the ones who are educated continue having their jobs and they also need to stop suppressing their people; doing this would do wonders for their country, and people.

None of those reasons justifies forcing a nation into hunger. The Taliban are not the ones at fault here. It's the liberal west. you either follow them or they'll drive u to poverty and hunger. Also you ppl need to stop underestimating the Taliban. This small group of ppl fought against the collective western war machine for 20 years. They'll survive ur nonsense

The US also put sanctions on Vietnam for 20 years after their loss in Vietnam war. According to some sources, Vietnam even had to pay war compensation to the US, in order for it to be lifted of sanctions.

Ordinary Afghans don't have nothing so I don't know what are u talking about. Where is the humanity for these poor people?? All their crime was to take back their country they didn't want invaders and no country or human beings want such thing invasion. Why would the US be cruel to them ??

It's kind of manufactured problem for genocide and power.

@@fajartiyarabdulmajid7807 if you want to be blind and deaf there are no proof, there are thousands of videos of turturing and killing, there are thousand statements of victims, there are even videos of killing and turtures put up by Taliban themselves, their genocide in 90s are recorded in united nation, over 20 years of suicide and car bumbing of schools, mosques, hospitals. Kidnapping thousands of non pushtoon civilians and cutting their head off in past years, they even did theses things to children. If you share idealogy with them and think like them you may deny.

@@fajartiyarabdulmajid7807 and you believe in what they say, they literally forcibly displaced thousands of Hazara families in central Afghanistan and Turkmen and Uzbek in northern Afghanistan and gave their lands and house to pushtoon nomads. They videos and detailed are documented and verified and people has reached to Taliban leaders for the matter but they gave false promises to people and denial to medias. I personally know many civilian victims that were killed or tortured by Taliban. About the kidnapping and armed rubbery and narco trafficking, that's one of the sources that Taliban finance their operation beside help from Pakistan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. You don't see their suicide bombers parade within Afghanistan cities to terrorise people, you didn't see just while ago they had ceremony to for suicide bomber family attending by high rank Taliban leaders and regarded them land and money, 99 percent of time their victims of suicide or car bombing were innocent children, men and women. Whole NATO casualties during these 20 years doesn't reach 4000 while Civilian killed by Taliban are a few hundred thousands. NATO caused civilian casualties too no one deny that, but what is being done by Taliban is systematic and in large scale.

Experts always says, “they need to get to the root of the problem” before anything can be done. But the root of the problem is the culture & religion and that is not going to change.

@@milesinnz I've heard this so many times from ignoramuses. Your name must be dugmore because you're getting old so you're already digging. I don't care where you're from, you're all alike. However. The money is not aid, simply because the assets are literally in bank accounts owned by individual Afghans as well as companies. An agricultural business in Afghanistan which employs over a hundred women can no longer pay them even though the money is there, because the US froze it. They can no longer pay their Russian suppliers for this same reason. The assets are a mixture of various currencies, gold, and investments. Now tell me, what kind of "aid" is gold? It wasn't aid at all, it is money made and saved by the hard work of the Afghan people. Furthermore, the so called "aid" given by westerners counted military as well, but they actually destroyed more infrastructure like schools and hospitals (which the west never count) than they built. And of the real aid (of around 30 billion), 85% was taken by the corrupts, contractors, ad so on. Only 15% was spent to actually build, but they used cheap hazardous material, no running water or electricity in roughly 30% of those buildings. These are the realities. The US put sanctions on to choke them. This is what is happening.

China needs to demonstrate that it can jump over the US freezing of Afghan assets and help this country; otherwise, its claims of standing up to the US are just empty talks. They need to come in (along with Russia) and deliver these people from this crisis, and they need to do it right now.

I just referred to the video, in which "monetary reserves" were mentioned and that the Taliban asked for those to be released, so that they could buy food for the starving Afghan people. My answer to that is still: "No money (cash, coins, bills, valuables) for the Taliban!" They would surely buy some food for the people, but most of the money would disappear into the pockets of shady weapons dealers.

Why do no one is asking to the talibans leave the power? Why international community has to care more for Afghan people than the talibans?
