Goodness, so sorry to hear that. Life is a lot to deal with. I feel really blessed to know I've been able to help at least a few guys who needed a boost of hair to see life from a new perspective.

@@GetLocklab When he told me I was shocked that would happen, but that's what his parents told my friend.

Being suicidal, or at least depressed, over hair loss is very common. Psychiatrists should be required to learn about hair loss drugs. They give you drugs that treat anxiety and depression caused by hair loss, but they don't know anything about hair loss drugs. I mentioned minoxidil to my psychiatrist, and she had never heard of it. She said, "Is that for acne?" She also doesn't know what DHT is. Some antidepressants include hair loss among their lists of side effects, so I asked my psychiatrist whether Paxil has any effect on DHT. This isn't a therapist. These are medical doctors who are supposed to understand anatomy. The reason I'm talking about my mental health treatments is because dutasteride and oral minoxidil have done more for my mental health than antidepressants, therapy and the hospital. I went to the emergency room and psych unit three years ago because I was suicidal. I was even more suicidal when I got out because it's a miserable place to be, and the drugs they forced me to use just made me more anxious. I had to use the Family Medical Leave Act because I couldn't work. I was determined to kill myself because finasteride on its own wasn't strong enough to stop my hair loss. I watched a lot of KZread hair loss channels, including Hair Loss Hope. I was cynical because I thought that finasteride and topical minoxidil were the only options. But I became more hopeful because of people who encouraged oral minoxidil as a hair restoration drug. I was able to find a new dermatologist, and I persuaded him to give me dutasteride, and eventually oral minoxidil. I'm not sure which drug helped more, but it's amazing how much my diffuse thinning improved. I was able to return to my normal life. I was able to work at my part-time job, and I eventually succeeded in finding a full-time job. It has everything to do with the drugs that I used to treat my hair loss. Our hair is our life. It isn't just an aesthetic feature. I had a consultation with a hair transplant surgeon, and I ended up deciding not to get a transplant because he said he couldn't help with my diffuse thinning. His recommendation was only to improve my hairline, which is receded, but it's important to be conservative with your donor hair. I was worried about what would happen if I continued to lose native hairs. I was young when my hair loss started, and it progressed rapidly before I started medication. It would be unreasonable for someone in my situation to expect to get a Norwood 1 and keep it forever. I shouldn't have felt hopeless because your channel name was right. There really is hair loss hope.

Is post finasteride syndrome a real thing? Do you see in clinics or clients?

Based on my years of personal research I do not think it is a real thing. It is only a real thing in the minds of the people who believe in it. There is no data to back up its existence, and finasteride is a widely studied medication. Feel free to read this blog post which sites the most comprehensive studies done on finasteride - www.locklab.co/blog/finasteride-the-lowdown-down-low
