Oh man you are the best. I’ve was just thinking like 5 mins ago about getting a blues jr but wasn’t sure if it would be a good fit for the tones I’m chasing. Happily you have answered that question for me 🤘🏻

I tried to replicate the sound of John Mayer by buying a strat and unbelievably it was already there.

Practical video. I had a TS9 that I did a 808 mod to (amongst others). Then I put a GE7 after it. Used a Monte Allums kit on the GE7, a real improvement. I don't use the RVB in my BJ, but I did put analog delay next in the signal. I like this because I can set the amp the way I like it clean or with other pedals, them shape the tube screamer (tame the mid's) with the EQ. The GE7 has a volume control that also boosts the signal. 2 pedals in one!

Great stuff Jack. I love how you point out that what you're doing is a good budget option for Mayer's Where The Light Is tone. Your pedal advice applies to most Fender-style amps w. headroom.

Great tones. I do not hear any overwhelming boxiness on the Blues Junior. Good mastering of this amp.

Great stuff! I've recently fallen in love all over again with my Tweed jnr. If you have a Boss OD-3, I highly recommend trying it with this amp - it's amazing! My new fave drive pedal for this amp, works especially well with my 335.

I have a boss katana mk2 and upgraded to the IV junior. I had such a hard time making the katana sound good most of the time it was just way to harsh for my liking. But the blues jr… oh my its so easy to dial in full fat tones. Gonna sell the katana and buy some more pedals for it back.

Nice video, Jack! I like the way this video points out that you don’t need a ton of gear to get great sounds. You can create a huge breadth of tones and sounds with a good guitar and a decent little amp like the Blues Jr. (I bought mine with the Jensen speakers, didn’t realize that makes it a “Blues Jr III”, but it’s a very playable basic amp for basement and small gig pickers.) Sure, it’s fun and satisfying to chase Mayer’s “Gravity” tones, or SRV’s “Texas Flood” tones, but in the end it comes down to figuring out what you can do with the gear right there in front of you (I’m a 5-Watt World fan, as you probably guessed.)

Great video Jack and I'm way behind on your channel. How do you think the treble cut would help nail down the sound? I kept thinking about this feature of the Katana mini while watching.
