A video with Spanish and Italian speakers trying to understand Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese would be cool. Which one do they find easier to understand?
@kfnwuwbw9s
29 күн бұрын
As someone who's fluent in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese is far easier for a ton of reasons... 1. Brazilian Portuguese pronounces every letter clearly. European Portuguese doesn't. 2. Non-natives have far more exposure to Brazilian Portuguese than European Portuguese. 3. European Portuguese has been influenced a bit by French over time, vocabulary-wise. 4. Brazilian Portuguese is syllable-timed like Spanish and Italian. European Portuguese is stress-timed. Just an example here, the word "excelente" is pronounced as "e-se-len-chi" in Brazil. But in Portugal, it's either "e-shlent" or just "shlent." Big difference for a simple word😂😂

@@vtr.M_ good point. However, generally speaking, I understand about 80%-90% of the more common Brazilian Portuguese accents. For European Portuguese, I understand about 50% of it at best. If they speak quickly, I understand only a few words at a time.

I'm german and I was *SO* surprised about the similarities between german and indonesian 😅 The letter H and the word "halo" mean the same and are pronounced *exactly* the same in german! "Hallo" (is the german spelling) is usually the first word, where germans can hear, if someone has another native language than german. When I heard him say that I thought that he's a german troll, who somehow made it into the show by pretending to be indonesian 😅

Yay, nice to see Denny again! Thanks for the representation! 👏 But the letter "q" in the Indonesian alphabet is supposed to be read as "ki" and not "kiu" 😁 Julia did a great job considering it was her first time, that 8 is well deserved 👍 We Indonesians would find Spanish and Italian speakers' pronunciation more similar to ours, but Portuguese speakers wouldn't do too badly either, just that they tend to drop the final sound, while in Indonesian we have to pronounce each and every letter (like in Tagalog, which comes from the same language family) 😊 I'm already learning German and Italian, so I enjoyed following the Turkish lesson. I gave up after the first 10 seconds 😂

@@anthonymc8361 I don’t think Elita is a poor representative just because she isn't as fluent in English as Denny. While she might have struggled with English, she's also proficient in Korean and feels more at ease communicating in it. To me, both Elita and Denny are excellent representatives of Indonesians. No, we’re not an English-speaking nation. Unlike our neighbors in the Philippines or Singapore where English is heavily emphasized, we in Indonesia often approach English as just another foreign language. However, many Indonesians also become proficient in other foreign languages, such as Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, French, or German. This linguistic diversity showcases the unique adaptability and multilingual capabilities of Indonesians. Elita’s strength in Korean and Denny’s fluency in English both highlight the rich tapestry of skills that Indonesians bring to the global stage. It’s this ability to embrace and master multiple languages that makes our representation in international arenas so distinctive and valuable.

@@kilanspeaks there was this other lady whose name I forget. She speaks perfect English and can speak Korean. In episodes where she was the rep, she gave better and richer explanation. I agree with you, about us not being an English speaking country, etc. But, in cases where you could have invited more fluent reps like Denny and the other girl, but you didn't, it's just bad casting.

As a Filipino working abroad, I usually don't mention that my language is influenced by English and Spanish before starting a conversation. However, I've noticed that this Filipina woman frequently points out that our language has English and Spanish influences. It's not necessary to mention it right away. Let people notice it on their own. Additionally, she often claims that most Filipinos have Spanish ancestry, but that's not really needed because, in truth, the majority of Filipinos are simply Filipinos. Let's all be proud as Filipinos!

@@Nyanpatsukun-sama.4477yup.. thats why we need to emphasize that it is called "Filipino" language rather than "Tagalog"... no one's correcting this channel and constantly using "Tagalog" when the representative speaks "Filipino".. like on this one who i bet she cant speak pure tagalog and she's teaching wrong things about kumusta.. kumusta is the correct spelling orather than kamusta.. its just that it is easier in our language to say kamusta than kumusta and this also started in texting era so people thought kamusta is correct but its not.. kara david also discussed about this a few years ago that many thought kamusta is correct or valid but no.. i wonder where she gets that info about kamusta.. she's making things up (the filipino guest)

There's no such thing as a "formal" approach when you say either "kamusta" or "kumusta". *Kumusta* is the original Filipino word because it's the one that's loaned on Spanish language (como estas). *Kamusta* on the other hand is the evolved or colloquial spelling of the original.
Did Julia and Ana make a video again ? I think that i never watch them together ... I really do not remember. If it will be some activity in the future that you need a partner, i recommend both to represent Brazil...

The thing with Filipino alphabets; yes we do have 28 letters and we pronounce it as it is. But actually a few of these alphabets were added for purposes. Original Filipino Alphabets: A, B, D, E, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, NG, O, P, R, S, T, U, W, Y Spanish loaned alphabets (for Spanish loaned, and later on English loaned words): C, F, J, Ñ, Q, V, X, Z. And intonation is also important in Tagalog and some Filipino languages. There are words in Tagalog that are the same in spelling but different meanings when the intonation is changed. Example: magkaibigan - magkaibi--gan - friends - magka--ibigan - lovers
I really love Julia, I swear… but after 5 minutes of full energy it’s like please calm down!
Selamat tinggal is so formal, Indonesia usually use "Da dah" than Selamat tinggal 8:56

amo essas caretas da Julia kk tão fofa
I think Danny is better in English speaking, don't get me wrong Elita is good too she has experience and good Korean
I've discovered a mistake that the Turkish lady has made during her teaching. soft g (ğ) doesn't have the noise that the lady is making. soft g is basically the re-expressed vowel of the letter coming before. for example the word ağaç (tree 🌲) is pronounced aaç. or the word yağış (precipitation 🌦️) is pronounced yaash.
Essa menina é uma figura kkkk
love julia
Wow. Its fun learning other languages. It been a while watching videos from this channel and its fun and amazing. Hope, you can also showcase if possible a filipino dialect in zambuanga which is the "chavacano". Zamboanga can be consider the spanish capital language of the Philippines.
What a difference is to be with people that are native speakers of the languages we are learning. I dream one day to be in another country to speak with a lot of people. Portuguese - BR - native English - intermediate Spanish - basic French - starting to learn (next language)
