It's a powerleving tactic. You give a 14 y.o. your account and a couple dozen monsters and they'll max your character in a week.

Great video. I loved speedrunning with my guilds on pservers. The feeling of improving our times and beating out other guilds formed a rivalry between guilds on our faction as well as opposite faction and resulted in lots of shit talk/world pvp. Fun stuff

Such a well made video ohgee wtf. I remember doing server first AQ on Feenix and felt like it wasn't competitive at all at the time.

the thing is private servers are a concentrated group of more hardcore minded people, so it makes sense that a server full of hardcore people would clear nef in a few weeks, I could be wrong but I doubt non raiding casuals really seek out private servers.

You don't quite understand it. Most people will not stick with Classic WoW, I'd say at the very minimum, 95% of true casual players will quit Classic before hitting 60. Classic will mostly be min maxers with a highly competitive mind set at max level. Those thinking they will re experience 2006 again are in for a rude awakening. If you try playing a ret pally or a non viable race/class like Night Elf Priest, do not expect anyone to waste their time with you. Sorry, but it just won't be the game it was before. Adapt or move on.

In Vanilla people did not know the fights as well, were playing on crappy dial up internet connections, and usually were not maxed out in pre-raid BiS and fully flasked up. On private servers all that has been fine tuned, and you will be expected to have all those consumables, BiS for your progression etc. One thing it does mean though, is the game should actually be more accessable to casuals, this time around you will see a higher percentage of people clearing MC etc (originally it was a crazy small percentage that even cleared MC). It might take them longer, but outside of the mini/maxer guilds there will be a much bigger and more forgiving space for the casuals to experience end game content.

You're kinda wrong, most casuals will not stick to Classic WoW. Most people who raid at 60 will be the min maxer type guilds with a competitive mindset. Anyone who plans on playing classic for ''fun'' and thinks that they will re experience 2006 is in for a rude awakening. Classic will not be that, times have changed and people need to realize this, this game won't be for everyone. Stick to BFA if you're looking for casual fun imo.

Thanks for the support. I have a general AB guide which you can find here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iH-exKaFeafSkbQ.html As far as Ninja capping, its mostly a matter of baiting the defenders trinkets or putting them in a CC that can't be trinketed such as Rocket Helm, Sap, Magic Dust, or Blind. Net is great for keeping pets out of melee range while you cap the flag. Blind is 10 seconds (same duration as flag cap) so if you Blind while spam clicking the flag you will get it. Here's an example: i.imgur.com/0vWm1e8.jpg (Rogue Rocket Helmed, Priest Magic Dusted, Warrior Blinded while spam clicking flag) Defending against ninja caps is all about sitting far enough from the flag that you can't get capped on in a Sap and having Skull of Impending Doom ready when you know the ninja wants to rocket helm you, etc. The best classes for defending nodes are Hunters, Druids, Warlocks, or Mages with 2x Iceblock because its much harder for a Rogue to CC cap against these classes.

I normally go Mining + Engineering at the start to be able to level Engineering as I go without spending gold, and have Grenades by the time I hit the zones with a lot of PvP (STV+)

I liked how relaxed Vanilla was after the grueling matches of wc3 on Battle.net in the very same beloved setting. You just had to pay with your time and dedication to be good back then. Raids will drop pretty fast due to the reasons you've mentioned yet people will still have to waste some time for UBRS, MC, Onyxia and BWL attunements, Hydraxian Waterlords quest line to summon Ragnaros and Onyxia scale cloaks. And then AQ comes with nature resistance and so on and so forth. Players young and old are still in for quite a fun ride and it will take them some good time fortunately. Not sure I'll be able to join it 15 years later though. Growing up sucks at times.

I know many guilds have done it before but regarding classic, what is your opinion on guilds test running raids on private servers in order to prepare for Classic raids? The main Downside with raid fights with mechanics is that once you know them, you can't really go wrong. Everyone knows everything vanilla wow raids. World first means nothing without achievements so I'm glad, I hated others having achievements that I could never earn.

Safe to say most half-dedicated guilds will clear everything up until AQ ezpz within a few months of content being released. Most half-dedicated guilds will get a few bosses in Naxx. Only tryhard guilds will clear Naxx. Most players won't make it to level 60 however, most level 60 players who PvP won't make it past rank 10.

Hell, I only want to get rank 11 on my warrior for the stylish black war ram. Perfectly happy for r10 plate, an Arcanite Reaper, and casual MC/BWL. I'm not sweaty enough to want to blitz through AQ40/Naxx, fuck that noise.

It’s tough to make Vanilla PvP truly competitive because of how the Honor system is designed. If Blizzard does something to prevent dodging, you will see some Premade vs Premade games happen and establishing dominance over other groups is important in the long-run because it makes securing the top standings easier. But sadly if dodging is allowed to happen that all goes out the window.

@@OhhgeeHaptixGaming Even if that happens, people will either give up on pvp after their rank 13 or even worse, 14. 9/10 people who reached rank 14 in vanila quited pvp totally untill TBC, or quited the game ENTIRELY untill TBC. I was part of a pvp guild back in vanila and trust me... even if dodging doesn't happen ( it will happen cus that's how vanila works and we're all together on the "no changes train" remember?) it doesn't mean that pvp guilds will enstablish some kind of dominance.. at least not for ever.. cus the Cores of that guild will eventually burn out or reach rank 14. It's just a stupid system which has no place for true competition and skill measure. TBC is the expansion that made PvP great... Vanila is just shit in terms of pvp.

If all you want to do is fair competitive pvp then I can see why you wouldnt care about vanilla . I would like to do that as well but theres more fun to be had than just ranking on some type of ladder.

That's exactly what's gonna happen if the classic content isn't retuned. HOWEVER, one of the great things about vanilla is that there is sooo much more to do than raiding: exploring, world pvp, premade pvp/bgs, farming, quests, professions, mount farming, dungeons and so on

Kane Kane but the world is so dynamic and alive in Vanilla. Because there is so much farming required + no flying mounts the world changes so much depending on the actions of players (at least on a PvP server)

Thanks for your somewhat objective thoughts on it - they were slightly biased by your guild but well said nonetheless. For speedruns as a whole I really hope to see more formats than simply Any%. Something like only allowing buffs which you can gain inside the dungeon would not only balance the 60-70% warrior speedruns, but would also give horde a chance in the race now that alliance can't mind control for horde 'exclusive' buff(s). It would make the meta more diverse and the creativity would play a much larger role than it does now.

If some people want to do this competitive stuff then why not. But personally I don't care about any competition. I play for fantasy, story and fun. Thing became problem only when game is tuned for this competition, getting hyper-balanced and in expense of RP elements. That is why I hate modern wow, it is e-sport, not RPG game...

Most casuals will not stick to Classic and most of those that do hit 60 and raid, will be the min maxer/competitive crowd. If you're thinking that you will re experience 2006 again then you're in for a rude awakening. Unless if you're okay with just leveling alts and role playing, do not expect to ever raid or be taken seriously at max level with that kind of mentality. Plan on playing a ret pally? Ok, hf playing by yourself, no1 in their right mind is going to waste time with an incompetent player. Not bashing your way of playing the game, just giving you a dose of reality.

@@brettw7444 Haha, I don't think so. During leveling it will be fun, I can tank dungeons as prot paly and so on. No min-maxing required. Raids are not everything. And if I will want to raid, I can respec or if I don't like it, I will take alt or something. But having "terrible times" will be not case at all. If I don't like it I just go play other game. I will not let bunch of no-lifers to dictate what to do. Because I have life and I like it :)

man you are wrong on so many things I dunno where to start. it takes about a week for the speed levelers to get to 60 (record is 4 days and something /played on a private server). Good luck grinding enough rep to douse all the runes in MC and have your raid decked out in enough FR gear to do the 2nd half of MC. Consumables are very rare at launch because there simply arent enough on the server. Do I need to continue?....

If you think Classic will be like 2006 again, you're completely wrong and are in for a rude awakening. Hardcore players will make up the majority of players in Classic. It will not be a casual friendly game this time around, especially if you plan on playing a meme spec or a non viable class/race comp like Night elf Priest. Whether you like it or not, classic will mostly be a hardcore dominated game. People that are expecting to come in and play Classic how they did back in 2006 are in for a rude awakening. If you choose to play a non viable race/class combo or a meme spec. Do not expect anyone to invite you or take you seriously. Times have changed. Not sure if you're a casual or a hardcore, but I feel like people should know before they disappoint themselves.

You talk about this 'fever' but only less than 1% of hardcores cares about it nevermind does it. The amount of guilds that will have MC done in the first month with a level to 60 will be huge. Because MC is dogshit easy. But i predict twins and 4hm will be a titan and barrier to most guilds that dont have 14 hours a day to play a game.. when i was raiding naxx on peenix.. it was garabo i mean even if.. it was good on lights hope its a fraction of what it is, on retail. The bosses are missing so many values etc. I predict by the time wow tbc classic hits KT will still only be downed by like 20% of guilds. Its not because naxx isnt just hard and the values are just crazy. Its that the consumables grind to anyone that has a life is just near impossible. I mean 2 flasks full buff food scrolls and elixirs. Is a day job to collect.

I played at Feenix - Emerald dream. My character was named "Tubaws" ^^ Team plague was insanely good. Some people thought they got inside information from the GM's regarding world boss spawns. They had a monopoly loot on all the world bosses

For people doubting the speed-run meta, here is what happens from a player's perspective. Assume you don't care about speed runs. You hit 60 and join a raiding guild. The first few raids go fine, then players start quitting the guild. When this happens raids take longer. When raids take longer more people quit. And nobody is replacing them. Eventually the guild disbands. Where do these quitting players move to? Better guilds. What makes a better guild? Faster clear times. Faster clear times = more time to do other things in-game or IRL, making it a direct reward. People want to spend 1 hour in MC, not 3 hours. Better players naturally make their way to guilds with faster clear times. Guild leaders know this and strive for the fastest clear times by forcing people to farm consumables. It helps guild recruitment. It's not just about the prestige of faster clear times, it's the cause and effect of efficiency, having more time for other things, and being among like-minded people. That is the present state of vanilla raiding culture, and it works out very well.

But there will be room for slow players, they will find each other and make guilds that are fine with doing 3 hour MC runs. As long as some people with management talents are fine with this slow pace, such a guild can succeed (although they probably won't make it to Naxx, but that's also no problem to them)

Private servers have never been a fair comparison to actual vanilla. Elysium for example which runs on the most popular pserver core didn't have certain boss mechanics working for raid bosses (for example Ragnaros where his AoE attacks didn't happen as much as it should have happened), the values were completely screwed and the creators of the servers had to make up their own values on everything because like you said, the values have never been known to any pserver creator. There's a reason literally no one dies to fire for example on pservers without the vanilla required resistance gear, because the damage and resistance values are screwed and not working. Also, look at all the speedruns or regular runs for that matter when it comes to pservers.. every single person is buffed out of their minds thanks to dynamic respawns which means everyone can get their full consumables ready for every single raid. This won't be the case in classic which Blizzard has confirmed already. So now you have.. no all-out consumables for raiders AND mechanics/values that is actually legit and working.. will classic be harder? Fuck yeah, it will still be easy for good players but overall harder than pservers. The top tier consumables not being available for everyone will drastically increase the time it takes people to clear raids. Not to mention that some pserver people have no idea how much they will need to farm in classic compared to pservers in order to have enough consumables for raiding, you won't be able to abuse dynamic respawns to have the black lotus spawn every 5 minutes.. oh no no.

Who cares about it being competitive. The whole point of classic is to go back and have fun.

Couldn't disagree more. Speed running, in it's truest sense requires identical repeatability, which is not present in WoW. Clearing a raid as fast as possible, has and always been a thing in WoW. Can it? Yes. Is there a reason for it? No. Will it be hard? No.

There is no way you can know if armour values, resist values and damage values were tuned higher or lower as those values were never revealed to anyone and only Blizzard know these real values. Secondly, Nano, one of the guys in charge of insuring things were as Blizzlike as possible at Nos, said on Classicast, that several things on Nos were wrong and they just guessed values and some abilities were tuned incorrectly. I am not saying the vanilla raids will not be cleared very quickly, because they will. We know all the encounters etc., there will be no mystery and progress. However, the vast majority of players on classic will be people who have not been playing on private servers and a lot of people will be completely new to classic. The private server players will be a very small minority. The raids won't be cleared very quickly by the majority of players. The only reason private servers are full of epic geared players is because these people are all vanilla fanatics. Classic servers will not be like this.

Dumbest title I've ever seen. People speedrun some games that are twice as old and it's competitive. Whether something is old or easy doesn't mean it can't be competitive..

Lets be honest Vanilla end game Its 2-3 h of PVE a week and PVP the rest of the time.

I always laugh when I see ppl talk about how they just want to PVE in Classic...my dude you will quit the game before BWL even hits if that's what you plan on doing.

Im so tired of these mythic tryhard raids. There is nothing worse for me than opening up the twitch wow section and seeing the entire guild streaming and doing absolutely nothing but dying and sweating on these raids. I wish blizzard would stop designing raids around these guys they're like the 0.005% of the game's population. Id get rid of mythic entirely and stick to Normal and Heroic (no lfr)

I hope you're wrong. Ive spent the last couple years on private servers, so as far as "adapting to survive" i think im good, mate. Can do vanilla just fine :thumbsup: I just dont particularly enjoy speed runs, nor do i consider them to be a fun, nor engaging part of content. Class stacking in vanilla is already bad - speed running will only seek to encourage that more; thus trivializing the already simple content even more, and further distancing hybrids from the content i enjoy.

Vanila pve was never competitive or hard for that matter. The endless consumable farm for hours each day was the hard part. And ofc getting 40 people into the entrance's raid + teamspeak xD ( yep that was hard back then). The bosses themselfs were not really hard...the dps were just standing still spamming 1-4 keys.. Mechanically wise, BFA pvers will just laugh at Vanila pve...And if u ever played FF14.. oh boy it will be easier than a walk to ur fridge. Vanila wow is an old game, GRIND is the main purpose... Grinding the consumables for the raid.

Method's guild leader Sco said nobody in Method is interested in competing for world firsts because the content isn't challenging enough. On private servers, the only challenge left is coming up with new and efficient ways to speed up clear times. I don't see the point in competing for anything except world boss kills.

Lol at BFA being harder. Because gear doesn't drop from the sky everyday from doing nothing. Even for mythic you still only manage 20 people, you don't need attunements and everyone is raid ready from the get go. When you start to go into end of Vanilla see how easy it is to get 40 people naxx attuned with proper gear and half a brain. Hardcore guilds might be able to clear content quickly, but casuals might take a year or two and never put their feet on naxx with the amount of preparation and work needed just to enter the raid. It's not like any casual guild who can just get to mythic first bosses and one shot normal and HC like it's nothing on day 1. Soloing Hogger at 10 is harder than doing Normal and HC raids on retail.

Joao Carreira you’ve clearly never killed a mythic end boss. Classic raids have less mechanics than trash mobs in BfA, even though it is a shit game.

This will never take off and become mainstream in the same way the MDI has. Why? Because no one wants to watch "Who can take the most warriors" raid. What a boring idea. The Lack of comps is boring as hell even in the MDI why the hell would you think this wouldn't be a problem in Vanilla?

The way i see it wow classic will only be for players who miss the community aspect that isnt available with today's version of wow. newer players will quit classic after one day while complaining about the leveling rate,difficulty,no cross server bwahh bwahh and other moronic things. i for one will be happy,miss the days that you actually had to build up a rep in your server,if you were a good person you were respected,if you were a dick you were left out. time for this generation of gamers to learn that actions have consequences,meh i doubt they will last long in classic servers. let them go with their insta boosts,cross server bs,aoe 20 mobs at the same time crap...i believe the true mmo players will stay in classic.

The answer is no. People have been playing it so fucking long that you can literally roll ur face through every raid. That being said, if you do like gear limits in a guild that could be dope.

I hate rushing content and I will never speed run.

If bliz want to make wow classic raiding competitive ... dont allow addons, all addons.
