my advice for post10 or anyone going into the woods during winter when its really cold is to put a cow pelt that has the fur still on it because it is not only light but works better as a thermal break than a tarp and if treated right will remain flexible even when cold from being on the ground or on the snow and ice.

When my parents were kids, there were always horse hide blankets to keep them warm on the way to town in the sleigh. My mom said her dad would heat stones and wrap them in newspapers and put them by their feet at night or under the horse hide blankets for a very cold morning sleigh ride to school for them and the neighbor's kids. He was like the neighborhood school bus. Automobiles were considered silly things and cars were put up on blocks out in the machine shed till summer came around again.

We used to have tree farms right down the road from my home. They grew them for paper and were super fast growing, I think they took around 5 years from planting to harvest. It was a really neat place, especially since we really don't have native trees away from the rivers, except sagebrush. The trees were planted in giant squares one mile to a side, and the old growth would overhang the road. Which was nice because we really don't have shade 😁. The harvesting machines were also very interesting. It would cut, limb, and stack, all in one. Anyway, good video!

If that strut bracket's held in place by two bolts, you can remove one from the right rear and use it to hold the left rear strut in place long enough to get to your mechanic. You've probably already had it repaired by now though lol. My father taught me to always carry some strong, single strand wire and a roll of duct tape for securing loose things. Saved me in my car, truck and motorcycles.
@IronArmPanda Жыл бұрын
Just a safety recommendation. Before you go putting your head or body under the car toss the tire under the rotor so you have some sort of stand in case it falls. P.S. for that spark arrestor you could just smash the top together and slide it on top of the open pipe and just use that as the cap.

Sir Post! Huge fan! Oh, and I hope your finger is ok, ouch! My comment is WAY too late but... I'm a tire and battery guy- based on the wear on the sidewall of your tire that should be covered by whatever warranty you have from where you bought it. There's a groove on the sidewall indicative of internal wear on a tire that was driven on with too low of pressure. As far as my shop and as far as what I know, it doesn't invalidate your warranty. That's included with road hazard protection. In our case, it would only cost you 21 bucks for a new tire. Based on the dot number it was made the 17th week of 2022. Dang it... I hope you didn't have to buy a brand new tire. 😔 hope this helps sir post and I'm sorry my comment was so late!

As a Louisiana man I just can't understand how you manage to deal with 1, 2, 3 feet of snow all over the place until APRIL?! I ain't seen snow more than a few times in my whole life. TOTALLY different environment here! On Xmas 2021 down here it was 80F and I stood outside wearing shorts. If it's below freezing I'll shiver uncontrollably. I had the same problem doing that, just as you do, until I brought a piece of twenty foot or so rope along. I just tie it (use a snap ring now) on to the loop, run up the hill, and hand pull it when I am up there on the flat. So much easier.

I'm going to answer your power washer question. I have both. But after buying the electric 2500 psi from Lowe's I have not touched my Honda gas-powered one. No fuel fills stopping me from power washing big jobs and the electric motor only comes on when you're using water. It seems that the electric cleans better but I think it's because the tips have better spray patterns. My neighbor bought one after using mine.
@heofthesquarebum
Жыл бұрын
I agree with this statement - electric pressure washers can be purchased for pretty cheap if you watch for a sale. Like any pressure washer (gas or electric) you want to be sure to winterize the pump or (particularly if electric since they are so light) just bring it inside the house/basement to prevent it from freezing up and destroying the pump.

great video. took me awhile to watch Part 1 and 2. at one time, Indiana had farmers save 10 acres of their farm for future needs for trees/wood. The 10 acres I grew up by was my playground as a kid so I'm still fascinated with lots of trees. But the amount of trees in Maine blows my mind! I was wondering how they load up those trees they cut down but I"m thinking we saw a machine that lifts them near the end?

After removing tire & wheel, you should always slide the tire & wheel under the vehicle in a horizontal position just for added security if a jackstand is not available. If the jack was to fail and or vehicle fall, it's much better to fall a couple inches onto the tire & wheel ultimately leaving you an escape area versus potentially being squashed with weight of entire vehicle on your arm, leg or entire body. Even just a chunk of wood/log from woods if available is better than trusting only a scissor jack, especially a scissor jack on unstable half frozen and half muddy ground. P.S. always remember to block/chock your front tires when jacking, never trust or rely on vehicle being in park.

Hi DaveYou can make a sleeve for your chimney pipe out of that True Vent triple wall pipe they use for pellet stove drill and tap three holes in it around it so you can tighten the bolts down on the chimney pipe like a Christmas tree in the stand that will insulate it with the pipe but also leave another air gap between the two pipes I’ve people do it a lot on the winter camping groups

I know I am away late to the game here Post 10 but you should try and save a large log for overnight sleeping and another for the middle of the night. As long as the log is thick it will slowly burn through the night sustaining your fire. The small sticks will burn pretty darn quick so they will. A nice heavy wood like Oak will sustain the fire for a good few hours before itself becomes coals.

It's all about trial and error. It's interesting watching how your camping set up evolve's with the stove each time and your ideas for optimising the set up going forward. Excellent video👍
That was a ton of content. From the strut to the shoveling to the fire to the strut … thanks for new back to back videos!
If you ever take off the tire again for repairs, then place the tire under the car. I kept fearing the jack wouldn’t hold and the car would either crush you or damage the wheel hub/rotor/etc. Great video and definitely inspiring for me to go camping.
great video post , so so glad you got home safe , all the best from Wales.
Interesting results with the spark arrester and insulation. My recommendation is to be sure to have enough chimney pipe to extend higher than your tent so the smoke doesn't linger around the vents in the top of the tent.
I really like the fact that you put so much time and effort into your videos. Well done young man
Nothing stops this guy plus he always looks at the better side of things… another awesome video
Because the tent is so deep, you could have pulled out the side ties with paracord and snow anchors and had even more room. Great vid!
Camping in the middle of a road! Only you, Post, only you. Absolutely love it. Great video.

Awesome shots of the exhaust from the stove! Looked exactly like a rocket stove, that's crazy. Glad you made it out ok with the car trouble, that would have really worried me. I'm always blown away by how knowledgeable you are
my advice for post10 or anyone going into the woods during winter when its really cold is to put a cow pelt that has the fur still on it because it is not only light but works better as a thermal break than a tarp and if treated right will remain flexible even when cold from being on the ground or on the snow and ice.

Hi Post, brought back memories when I lived on the farm in North Dakota. I walked on snow drifts that never caved in. Shoveling snow a quarter of a mile to get to the highway to get to work. The bad part the wind chill was 69 below zero.
Hopefully you may get to see the Northern Lights on one of these camping nights!
This episode shows that in life, bad stuff is gonna happen, and like Post, you must search for an answer and persevere! It's all in the attitude... that can ruin your day or bring you sunshine and happiness! Really enjoy how you problem solve. Thanks for the ride along!
This 2 part adventure is some of your best work yet
Part two was great Post! Well, except for your vehicle trouble. I am glad you made it home safely! It was good to see an example of what to do if you have a auto problem out there. I hope your SUV is fixed! I bet you can't wait to get your new truck. The glowing pipe and torch was cool to see. You played with fire ,so you know what that means.:-) I am happy to see you got some sleep. Thanks for the clock again. The extra footage was great! I thought you made it here to Indiana. We have cities named Mexico and Peru. :-) The snow and landscape great, but it got up to 77 today in my part of Indiana.:-)
Can't believe you uploaded a double feature, Post. Highly appreciated. You could have banked this one for next week and taken some time for yourself. Thanks for thinking of your subscribers instead!
I can tolerate 45C with preparation, just not while sleeping. I like to sleep cold. I can't wait to see your summer montage of clearing drains, both during and after storms!

This video was super interesting, the tent actually seemed cozy! I love watching people Macgyver things together( use what you have to make it work)- i do it too. Thanks fo r the video.
You inspired me to start a youtube channel and now you're giving me content ideas. I like how you truly go camping and were raised to be outdoors like my brother and me. Please keep up the good work sir!
One thing about post 10 and steves vids are no fancy editing like music, cut aways, sceanic shots.. etc but thats what makes these vids even more fun. I watch camping vids to feel cozy not to see a documantary style video about some dude who setsup, goes in tent, wakes up next day and goes home.
I love you Posty
Thank you for another amazing over night winter camping trip. Looking forward for another camping trip.
Post dude you are a LEGEND!!!, this one hands down gave me a ton MORE respect for you, your commitment and perseverance was WOW!!!!, you are the man, I hope though you will consider getting a roadside emergency kit if you don't already have one, even though your insurance does cover you, please remember NO ONE will cover your ASSETS, like YOU could, great vid and much respect to you 🙂
I love this, let’s determination and grit and adventure. You’re an amazing young man.
Postie!!! Im a 53 yr. old carpenter from San Diego, CA Your video's are the Best on KZread!!! I look forward to all of your vids. You're a cool dude, my kinda friend. Thanx for the content 🙏
I think your videos are great. Watch them all. Suggestion: I often have to pull my ice fishing tent-sled up and down the lake edge snow banks. I had the same problem doing that, just as you do, until I brought a piece of twenty foot or so rope along. I just tie it (use a snap ring now) on to the loop, run up the hill, and hand pull it when I am up there on the flat. So much easier.
@toddsiegfried8859

I also was thinking that...A long rope with a knot every foot and a half, then pull it up the hill once your up top!
What about a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) ($200-$499) or a Satellite Emergency Notification Device (SEND) ($220-$350/year but can be paid monthly)? It can be written off as a business expense too 🙂
Post, I love your videos man. As someone who does lots of backpacking and camping myself, I'd really recommend looking into some light weight gear. An inflatable sleeping pad would be a huge space saver/weight saver for you. I'd also recommend some quality boots! Seeing you fall into the water in that culvert a few vids back really reenforces that! Anyway, keep up the great work! These are just my suggestions feel free to ignore them, you do you!!
Another quality watch !!! Keep em coming my friend, it’s an absolute pleasure watching you on your adventures, please keep safe 🙏👌
Sweet!!! Love your camping videos so much! Very calming and sometimes educating. Have a blessed Easter my friend. Hugs😎
I'm so excited to watch part 2. Thanks post!
@heofthesquarebum

This hot-tent camp in the big snow crater was probably the most comfy-looking of all of them from this winter. With all that snow and firewood the only limiting factors would be food and boredom!
the way you handled the car issue, very inspiring!
I love how you fast forward the video when you are driving fast through the snow ❄️ ❄️❄️
Even though your crooked stove is absolutley killing my O.C.D, and also melting your tent from leaning right up against it it's still a great video😊
great video. took me awhile to watch Part 1 and 2. at one time, Indiana had farmers save 10 acres of their farm for future needs for trees/wood. The 10 acres I grew up by was my playground as a kid so I'm still fascinated with lots of trees. But the amount of trees in Maine blows my mind! I was wondering how they load up those trees they cut down but I"m thinking we saw a machine that lifts them near the end?
I love your winter camping videos ❄️❄️❄️
Wow, car trouble, dog tired, that man truly wanted to camp out that night. Bravo Mr Post10.
Couple things. Steel wool in the end of the pipe is a good disposable spark arrestor, and tin foil wrapped around where the pipe goes through makes a quick and easy insulation.

Wow. Watching Post 10 shovel all that snow…way more energy and endurance than most!! While it’s a long trek to sleep in a tent in the snow on a road, that’s not the point. It’s the adventure!! Thanks for another awesome video!!
Two great videos in a row. Thanks! Glad you made it home safe.
Thanks for the adventure.
Like I said before, use a fire blanket for the roof exit gusset and tie it off with a metal jubilee clip around the flue. Also definitely make your own spark arrestor
Great video again you made up for the time you were gone and we all thank you for that!!!
Awesome! I love these videos! Thanks again, Post!

Absolutely fantastic content, keep the good work up, it's fantastic to see you having such fun and the scenery is breathtaking. Sending well wishes from the UK!
These trips are awesome, I love them so much!
Had to rewatch since I was on the road and was mostly just listening. Dude moved a crap ton of snow, holy cow
What i like about you is your work ethic, absolutely no messing about just get it done!
Two wonderful videos . Stay safe out there ,thank you for your hard work .wish i was young again but dont think i would like it out there at night 😂
Try something that might hold heat from your propane heater. Since your propane heater emits radiant infra red heat, aim it toward the wood stove at night. The radiant heat will heat the metal of your wood stove and retain more heat that the ambient air can.Use the energy twice in the tent...(pro tip)
Nice camping video

Great video man👍 btw If you get a 45 elbow and run your chimney pipe at an angle out past your tent you won't get any burn marks either, you just have to support the pipe with green branches
