I'm ex RAF and can relate to that, spent some awful nights away from base..... once I had to close the patio doors onto the balcony and we made our way down to the bar :)

I had a night under a bash and bivy on snowdon in the 88 on my basic training with 60mph + winds still to this day I don't know how we got through it..but he's right it's exhilarating

I’m ex Army and like you I did a fair amount of outdoor living. The difference is we didn’t have a choice ;)

Literally cannot sleep without it for the past 9 years now, and it helps you to have continuous restful sleep through out your bedtime.

I suffer with insomnia but if it rains when I get in my sack and can hear it I go off to sleep albeit for a few hours but it seems to do the trick

If anything,, the tent manufacturer should pay you for demonstrating how great their equipment is!

Hubby and I are going to camp in the backyard when it gets really cold, just to see if we can do it. Have solar/propane heat. We'll see...

Really impressive how that tent held out.

Having lived outdoors for a decade in the uk, I’ve seen some extreme weather conditions. Only a few times did I encounter such storms, but I can pretty much guarantee that anything worse than what you put that tent through would have annihilated it. Great job mate. Fun isn’t it 😊

During a hike. I spent 3 days on a mountain under my 4m x 4m budget blue tarp hiding from the weather. Loved every minute of it.

Was it a woven weather resistant tarp? The kind that isn't even close to waterproof and leaks like a sieve. How'd you stay dry?

@@donolinger6904 it is woven but has a PU coating. So far I've not got wet in the 8 years I've owned it. It's the best £12 I've ever spent.

That’s the reason I only use Hilleberg or my own diy tents. All of them withstood extreme weather.

I agree about being a kid in your safe space out in nature. LOVE IT

Spanish mountains on the Alpujaras Mountains Sierra Nevada. Tent demolished by the rain but the wind wasn't as bad. Got soaked and bunked up with the Donkey's 😁(no roads where I was)

Gnarly weather dude, Soulo tent is the goat for surviving that. We never cook in our tents here in Northern California, too many bears nearby, food smells linger in the tent fabric even after the meal. Thanks for the vid, good job.

Really well done, thank you, just what I would have wanted to do & so I enjoyed it from home. And, you didn't say that it was terrible & you couldn't sleep. I sleep like a baby in wind & or rain storms, not worried if my tent sags, only if it rips through & even then, oh well. It is worth having a tarp inside, ready to put over you if rain or snow leaks in.

Glad you put the guys in as soon as possible - in the only video I saw a Soulo pole fail was when the guys were not pegged out quick enough or moved at the wrong time.

I was on top of Snaefell Pike during pre - TT week in 1974. My mates and I were on a week long exercise and it was blowing a cracking blizzard. We were in two man bivvies and Land Rovers. Digging fire trenches (fox holes) in a blizzard is much fun.

This was a tough test, particularly when the winds were coming at you from the side. The Soulo is pretty wide from the side, and a bit taller than some tents. I love how strong they are though - not many better tents out there for conditions like these! Good vid, and I'll now be subscribing 👍 James.

Hilleberg Soulo - probably the only tent I own that I would even attempt something like that in. Love how the tent pitches from the ground up and clips on to superstructure. Great adventure!

First time I've watched one of your videos. Yes, I've subscribed, "Liked", & rang the notification bell. Your Hilleberg Soulo is definitely a 5-Star shelter out in the boonies. Good ole Delta pegs, however, with the wind I'd definitely be placing a big heavy rock atop each peg. I'm sure I know how you felt after pitching your Soulo & then getting inside it, & out of the storm. With these weather conditions, you definitely pitched/using the ONLY tent I'd want. Any & all Real Turmat meals are nutritions, tasty, & generous portions. I've never seen anyone actually "level" their frying pan until now. The historical footage was an unexpected & pleasant bonus. Good job getting everything packed up & not letting anything get blown away. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

In the 50’s we camped on the summit of Slieau Freoaghane which is just N of Snaefell in v similar conditions. The tent was a Blacks ridge tent without a built in groundsheet. At one point a stream flowed right through the tent. Fortunately, we managed to lie either side of it! Not a drop of water penetrated the canvas.

Great video mate. I was up near Mulhacen, Sierra Nevada Spain last week but winds were nothing what you encountered. Getting back in to it again from my military days. Your right a hot brew in adverse weather conditions is just something special. Keep at it mate 👍

Good tent that one. Survived in extreme weather, just what you need. I used to camp with my three girls in Manifold Valley Derbyshire. I put 4 xtra guylines on my tent and it survived terrible windy night. We could hear it coming down the Valley. Four tents were down people still asleep in them lol. Was gr8 fun and like you we loved it. NEw subscriber, loved the video. Take care

survived 60/70mph winds on Ben Nevis in February years ago. terra nova ultra quasar, didn't feel like it was stressed at all. the noise however made sleeping very difficult.

Aahhh reminds me of my army days camping in the Brecons beacons my tent got blown away with me and others in it we were all in are bras and knickers soooo embarrassing when the guys had to help us out bloody cold too 😁 CT real spooky too round the campfire telling ghost storys

Great ghostly campfire stories. I am a believer with my own experiences. I am from the states. I have been waiting for the delta pegs for a few months. Customer service has been great with updates. Awesome setup I've had my mountain hardware ev2 in winds gusting at 53 Knotts and held up like a rock star But that Hilleberg held up awesome I may have to get one Cheers

Impressed that the Soulo did so well with just one set of poles (and 9mm at that).

What an adventure and brilliant tent to withstand the conditions. Now I kind of regret I sold my Hilleberg Staika (but on the other hand it was too havy for hiking). I´m back to Hilleberg Nallo2 but don´t know, if it could take such a beating. After experiencing a total tent collaps a few years ago deep in Norwegian mountains at minus temperatures, I so much appreciate the quality manufacturers (the tent that collapsed on me was a cheap brand). Great video and adventure mate!
