Camping And Exploring Acklin Canyon, NV

We were running from a storm and seeking shelter when we found this beautiful camping spot on public land in southern Nevada. We got the metal detector out to search for gold and explored up a narrow ravine. Video was made during May of 2021.

Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If your into being off-grid and boondocking, or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

It's not illegal to refill your own 1lb. propane bottles and that's why you can purchase the adapter at most Walmarts and on Amazon, but it's technically illegal to transport a refilled container "interstate". This seems to refer to "commerce", or commercial activity, but if your choose to refill your own bottles you need to take this into account.

Flame King sells a 1-lbs. propane cylinder that’s specifically designed and approved for refilling. They have a bleed valve that opens and closes with a supplied Allen wrench. While the Coleman cylinders can be refilled, it’s trickier to bleed the air out. I’ve refilled both and find the Flame King to be superior as well as safer.

for the folks on site when purchasing a metal detector, if yuor into precious metal remmeber the hz on the metal detectors should be around 7 to 20 hz, above that its great for gold, mine is a kruzer gold metal, 75 hz signal, made for gold and everything else, . also learn to do a bounce test before using your detector, bounce the detector up and down several things to connect with the ground surface, it helps with depth and sound response. . hey rick that bottom of the bottle that linda found it from an old clorex or gallo wine bottle. they were that thick back in the day, because the glasses wasnt tempered. happy hunting

when filling up the little propane containersit best to have a scale, the container is empty weight is about 12-14 oz. so you want to fill only 1 #, into it. . place the empty container into a refer or ice box for about 2 hrs. remove it and start filling the container, some say to have the bigger tank upside down, i prefer standing up the only time to fill upside down on the big tank is when its running low itself. tap the bleeder several times to release air pressure from the small tank. then fill it again. please folks remember when filling the 20 gal tank PLEASE OPEN THE BLEEDER VALVE UNTIL IT BEGINS TO SPIT A FULL STREAM OF PROPANE THEN CLOSED IT. MOST PLACES LIKE COSTCO AND UHAUL , LEAVE THE VALVE CLOSED THATS WRONG TO DO. ,IF THEY CLOSE THE VALVE AFTER YOU OPENED IT DONT PAY FOR IT. , REPORT THEM TO THE BBB, OR THE MGR OF COSTCO OR UHAUL FOR NOT DOING IT RIGHT. YOUR THEN GETTING 80 PERCENT AIR AND 20 PERCENT PROPANE, . IT TAKES AIR TO PUSH PROPANE INTO THE TANK

  • @gonagain

Probably wider because it allows you to sleep across the width more comfortably and that frees up floor space for other things.

You have to be careful when metal detecting. It is illegal in Some Places and States without a permit and/or license and it does not matter if you are digging or not in some places. Just thought I would put that out there. It is illegal here in our state to do any metal detecting on both State Park and Army core land without permission and a permit.
