We tore a camper down and made a tiny house. It took about 6 months from start to finish. My wife and I both work full time so it was a challenge. Thanks for watching. Like and subscribe for more.

    Thank you for sharing this. I have a Travel Trailer that sustained a lot of water and snow damage while I was out of state. I kept the trailer beause I have wanted to turn it into a tiny house. I am happy to see that someone else was able to do this. Now I can show this video to family members who think I am crazy for my plans.. lol I want to keep it on wheels because where I live in Alaska there are a lot of forest fires. This would allow me to pull my home to safety if needed.

    Lynn Sweet. I think this sounds like a nice idea, but there are some precautions. Many Tinyhousers have tried this and failed due to age of trailer, not seen conditions of the steel, bending from using heavy wood, etc. There are many videos out there taking about this topic. You may be ok if you strengthen it or watch the weight of every item you use. Maybe if you used aluminum whenever possible. The axle(s) may need replacing. You might not be saving as much money as you think by not buying a new frame made just for tiny houses. This info is not from my own experience, just from watching countless how-to videos. 🙂 Good luck. 👍🏼

    So very true ! Home is a roof over your head , home doesn't have to be traditional brick and mortor, us Americans need to get back to the basics and claiming land as our own that they try to keep us off of ! I think land os something for every human being as a birth right and I also believe In natural selection the current system of things is not working its driving prices way too high , but leftist liberals do it on purpose because they are grifters, they profit from homeless and drug addicts etc . But Natural selection would slow down our population rates and allow more ppl to have something if they are willing to get off their butt and build it and grow foods , if not he and his family shall perish even dogs have the decency to eat their weak ones in the litter and man should do the same as every other species, I've never seen wolves say okay I'll go do the work you stay here and I'll bring you back a chicken , no all wolves go hunt and build their own den and have their own pups and that's that they will even eat the young of a weaker wolve this is natural selection and humans need to go old school again we have become too civilized and it's creates madness, man is intended to hunt and gather foods and work physical labor building shelter etc , why do you think mass shootings happens? The mind amd body isn't lining up with genetic coding to go hunt

    Super cool! I was going to do the same thing with an old camper I had bought when I was a sophomore in high school, but after really looking it over it’s not a heavy duty enough frame. It was built in 1974, so before HUD codes. The frame is more lightweight as is the build of the original camper, so it wouldn’t be able to adequately support additional weight. It’s also not as wide as a modern camper, so it’d be super tight with thicker walls. I’m going to sell the frame and she’ll of it this spring/summer. I live in a 1988 Terry Resort 24 ft camper that I redid and have been living in it since sept 2019 :)

  • @MakeshiftFrank

    @MakeshiftFrank

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@SpecsAppeal thank you so much. That really means a lot. The epoxy isn’t that thick. The shower panels do have flex to them. But not a lot. Also we used thinner foam boards than was recommended. There would’ve been much less flex if we would’ve used thicker boards. It has 3 layers of epoxy. The first layer was put on over a fiberglass type mesh for reinforcement. I don’t remember if it was actually fiberglass or something else. It came with the shower epoxy kit from stone coat countertops.

    Thanks for sharing you and your dad are very blessed and talented to have the skills to make that tiny home it is very beautiful. I do have a question I would like to do that, But I still want to travel with mind and be able to hookup at campgrounds or families land if they have a hookup can I still fix it so that I can do that instead of making it permanent like yours?

  • @MakeshiftFrank

    Thank you so much. That was very nice of you. Yes you could make it movable and hook up to places like that. We wired this one directly into the breaker box at the other house, but you could just wire a plug on it instead and plug in into anywhere that has the plug in for it. They even make adaptors to plug it into plug-ins that isn’t the same type.

    Great! Was trying to figure out how you changed the shape..you had to get rid fo the whole camper and just use the trailer! I LOVE the shower, how did you get the swirl of colors in the epoxy? I've used clear and glitter, items...but it's always been mainly clear. Neat work!

    Thank you very much. Well we used three types of coloring agents. We used liquid, powder, and spray paint. All colors in each type. Black white silver gold. Plus Diamond powder. We made separate batches of each individual color. Like one cup with black dye, one cup black powder, one cup black spray paint, n so on through all the colors. Then we just dumped them all in one big bucket. Then we just poured that bucket on the foam panels. That’s why they’re all slightly different. They never come out the same. We used stone coat countertops epoxy n followed their KZread tutorial for doing showers.

One has a hose so u can pick it up n hold it. Man hours… it’s hard to say. My father, my wife, n I started working on it in the spring. We finished before winter the same year. We would all work on it all weekend long bc we work full time. I would also work on it before work n after work.

    Can you leave the water heater outside like that in a climate that gets snow?

  • @MakeshiftFrank

    @MakeshiftFrank

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes. It’s made for that. I live in WV & it gets below freezing. You must insulate & heat tape the lines that’s exposed to the cold. But this model has an internal heater to protect the water heater from the cold. But if the power goes out then the protection is gone. Then you must drain the water heater to keep it from rupturing. We installed spigots on each line for that reason.
