I agree to me it seem like they are very wasteful because things that could be repurposed are being just thrown away.

I did this for 10 years over here in New Jersey. I Found Things $$$$$ That only a person could imagine. Great Job .

Those bikes could have been given away or brought to Goodwill. Must be nice to have money to throw away.

For the people who lived through the depression and made use of anything and everything.. this is tragic. I don’t wish for anybody to experience a depression in order to appreciate materialistic wealth, but to market a message to promote a wider mindset about re purposing. It’s frightening to see the volume of waste taken away just for one household. Just incomprehensible 😢.

I agree 100%. What I find shocking is that there appears to be no indication of recycling happening, just everything all going into one trash heap. That type of garbage disposal is not permitted here in Vancouver (and surrounding municipalities), B.C., Canada. We have recycling stations where you dispose of old mattresses, electronics, all metal items, plastics, wood, cardboard, glass, etc. Even though you can dispose of 4 large items annually at curb side, these items still go through proper recycling. We have curb side recycling, green waste and trash but it goes into their own bins for pick up. It was very sad to see the bicycles crushed, they could easily have been refurbished for those less fortunate. That big stainless steel bbq could likely have been refurbished, or at least recycled. Frustrating to see how we live in a "disposable" society with no regard for what could be done to help others or at least cut back on landfill.

I would hope where this is at the load is not just thrown into a land fill. Recycling items should be done at some point after dumping.

Não podem fazer isso tem legislação que proíbe isso. Para eles fazerem isso eles tem que desinfetar tudo e não compensa o risco. Então jogam fora e vai para reciclagem fazer produtos novos.

Does this all go to a waste transfer station to get sorted?. Here in the UK, our County Councils all operate civic amenity centres where we take our non-commercial bulk waste and dump it in 40 yard skips by material type.

People throw stuff out that can be reused but they don't want to take the time to call an organization that takes things for reuse. Their mentality is just throw it out by the curb then it's the next guys problem.

Esto vendría a ser algo parecido al vomito de las clases poderosas del imperio romano, allí en los banquetes provistos de todos los manjares, los romanos devoraban todo lo que encontraban y ya saciados, veían que no habían probado todos, entonces se provocaban el vomito, para tener lugar donde probar otros. En esta era el consumismo desenfrenado parecido a la gula los domina y los instiga a comprar cualquier cosa por cualquier motivo, lo cual hacen llenando su casa de objetos inútiles, hasta que no queda lugar para poder probar otros objetos, pero la abstinencia de dejar de consumir traumatiza a la mayoria, pues no pueden hacer ostentación de poderío económico en los mall, llevando en sus carros muchos objetos inútiles, para envidia de sus observadores o vecinos, la cosa se soluciona como lo hacían los romanos, haciendo vomitar a la vivienda casi la mayoria de objetos inútiles que se lleva el camión de residuos, con lo cual se comienza un nuevo ciclo de despilfarro competitivo estupido por aparentar, mientras cada día sin darse cuenta se están volviendo mas pobres y necesitados, porque no se valoran a si mismos, y dan a los objetos un valor simbólico que suponen que los hace mejor que otros.

Aqui no Brazil essas bicicletas isso rodar muito ainda!

On demand kerbside collections make it difficult for "scavengers" to rescue recyclables from landfill.

All you have to do, for free, go on Facebook, click on Marketplace, add photos and mention that the item is FREE and it will be REUSED...Stupid attitude. We'll all pay for this one day!!!

The scoop in the back of the truck does some job of busting up things. But it's only the beginning of it's destruction. At the landfill, the stuff is run over by bulldozers and completely pulverized. It makes me very sad because of much of this stuff is stuff that other less fortunate people can use. When Pizza Hut changed their mate's chairs out for those stupid bentwood chairs, 1973, and again in 1984, I wonder if they met this fate. In 1973, I fantasize that Christine, Stephen King's '57 Plymouth Fury went out to a Pittsburgh area landfill on a Sunday night during a severe thunderstorm, and exhumed a load of pulverized mate's chairs, using her supernatural powers. Then, she took to the highway and headed for Tosomberton Ashbourne out west. During that 2,000 mile cross country journey, Christine's reversal odometer rejuvenated the destroyed mate's chairs. By the time she cruised into Tosomberton, they were like brand new mate's chairs, polished to a sheen. The mate's chair is an Early American dining chair that's distinctive for it's guitar shaped solid wood seat, and ornate spindles. While most people look at a mate's chair as an ordinary dining chair, I consider it an iconic piece of furniture. I'm very fond of the mate's chair because of the guitar shaped seat, and the two periods that Pizza Hut had them in their old restaurants.

'Oh No!' the bike and strimmer at 0:50 what a waste. if it was a stihl strimmer even more 'Oh No!'.

I think it's digusting the amount of stuff thrown away, a lot of it could be reused or recycled.

I still cant believe that they would take some of it and use their own trucks and crush it. That would cause expensive damage to the truck. No company would do that here , they would get a flatdeck or boxtruck for the heavy ,bulky items.

Even though the garbage person takes extra items, the price is not cheap but beats the headache of finding a place to get rid of it.

I never stood directly behind the hopper while the truck was packing. I have seen objects fly out of there once the pressure is applied by the blade.

Surprised there are no scrap collectors in your area. They would have had a field day picking up the metal.

Infelizmente a grande maioria da população americana não tem empatia pelo resto das populações do mundo. Olha o que fizeram com as vacinas do covid-19. Estocaram milhares até passar da validade ao inves de distribuir para países pobres.

Wow!!! Electronic waste is permitted in landfills there? It's illegal for E-waste to be directly sent to landfills in the United States. They must be taken through a recycle and hazardous waste process first.
