Sweet grill and mods brother! The handy drip pan is the best thing ever for these style cookers. Did the same in my 980. Love your pellet hopper reason to that stupid thing they have you put in. My guess they must have that so they don't get sued when the 1st goof stuffs his finger in the auger and hell happens, lol. Pray no one ever think that might even be a good idea!

Hey Ben, Thanks for checking out My Vid! 👍 Well I basically covered up all the gaps and holes with gasket material and furnace tape. Used my true Stainless Grates from my KBQ C-60 smoker. I always use a shallow drip pan with water added to catch drippings and to add moister. And then I propped up the grease pan to be level and not on an angle. You gotta watch my New Vid......I burn real wood Splits in it without the use of that smoke box. Wild Stuff! 🔥👍 Metal On! 🤘
Great video, what size is the rack you replaced the two small top rack with? Can you tell me where you got it? Thanks

Nice smoker. I'm looking to get me one soon. I have a question. What is the butterfly opening??. Access to the chunk of wood in the little box? Or opening the burn pot. Curious as to how that works. Thanks for any info and thank you for th video.

It opens to let the fire hit the chips or chunks in the drawer. Found it best to just slightly crack it.....because the chips will ignite without a lot of smoke. Have found with a Pellet grill it's best to use a SmokeTube filled with chips....they will Smolder for a long time. This design of this grill is cool and cleaver.......but it doesn't work like it's claimed to. Best if you leave the valve closed......the chips will eventually start to smolder in time. Just get a SmokeTube. 👍 \🔥/
WOW, just bought one and waiting for delivery, but this is exactly what i needed know. First what gasket material is that and second where did you get those SS grills and drip pan…Amazon? Great presentation….Thanks!

Hi Doc.......Thanks for checking out my Vid. I have a couple other Vids using this smoker, hope you find time to watch them. The gasket is Lavalock 1/2" x1/8" got it on Amazon. The stainless grate is from one of my other grills....the KBQ C-60 SS wood burning smoker. You will like the Woodwind Pro.......having the ash clean out and ash bucket makes it nice so as to not have to take all the grates and drip pan out every time. 👍
Just because its magnetic doesnt mean its not stainless. There is no “true stainless”. It depends on the crystal structure: if its martensitic its more magnetic, if its austenitic its less (or none). Stainless steel just means it has a minimum % of chromium. I forget the amount, something like 10-15%

One of my biggest gripes on my new woodwind pro is the two piece upper grates, not being able to slide the grate out. Where did you get your grates?

Jim these grates are from my KBQ C60/SS smoker......True Stainless. 👍 I got lucky that these just happened to fit. I originally had thoughts of welding the two pieces together........or getting some stainless wire to connect together. Hope this helps. 👍 Have you burned your hand pulling out the smoke box???🔥 I gotta do something about that.

@@HeavyMetalBarBQue I was hoping for a better solution than mine. I utilized a "jerky rack" from my old DLX. I set the two piece upper rack on top of it. I'll probably bolt everything together.. I don't have a problem with the hot smoke box. When I was young I was a Navy boiler tech, so I'm used to handling hot stuff..

Hey Bro.........can't say that has been an issue for me. I'm always lifting the hopper lid and giving things a stir. Haven't done an overnight with a full hopper yet with it. Thanks for the question! They are from my KBQ C-60/SS wood smoker. Got lucky and they are the same length......the width is a little short, but that's ok. They are true 304 Stainless. @HeavyMetalBarBQue
Жыл бұрын
Ok Steve......my thoughts on a new Pellet Smoker?????? Well I can say I've been looking at this Camp Chef since it came out a little over six months ago, and also several other brands....the new Traeger Ironwood being at the top of my list. I really like the design of the fire pot and ash and grease clean out. But the price is $1700.00. The new designed grease tray isn't True Stainless which is a let down for that much money. Also looked at the Z Grills, Weber, RecTec, GrillaGrills,and few others.....but kept coming back to the Camp Chef for $1200.00. The 24" is big enough....but not too big. So.......I would say the Traeger would be a good decision, if you go that way. Tom Horsman does a lot of pellet grill reviews.....do You watch him? Well......Take care My Friend! 👍

@Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que I'm sorry but I do not watch him, yes $1700.00is a little steep, do the wood pellets smoke the meat as well as chunk/log Firewood?. I have never had wood pellet smoked meats
@HeavyMetalBarBQue
Жыл бұрын
Steve I will tell You..... pellets will never be as good as real splits of wood. But......there is the ease and convenience of using one of these style cookers. I used Traeger Pellets back when I first got my Lil Tex Traeger........they were ok, but I thought pricey. Started using anything that was a bargain and produced in the USA. I don't really see much a difference. For added Real Wood Smoke Flavor I would recommend using a Smoke Tube loaded with Wood Chips. 👍 Or if You get a Woodwind.......burn some Chunks in it's Smoke Box. 👍 Hope this all helps.....I'm here for more questions. 👍

You do realize that a steel alloy is considered stainless if it has a chromium content off at least 12%. No where in that definition do you see anything about being ferromagnetic or not. There are several grades of stainless steel that are ferromagnetic and I assure you they are “true” stainless steel.
