The lack of an English accent is just a mistake of the dub. They omitted DeeJay's Jamaican accent in that dub as well. That includes her X-men VS Street Fighter voice. They must have picked up any native English speaker in Japan they could to voice Cammy without thinking of an accent. Sense Cammy had amnesia, it makes sense that when she became self-aware, she adopted the accent and customs of the people around her.

I might be wrong, but the first game that had any alternative voice-over was SFIV. Before that, all voices were done by Japanese actors, even for the characters that spoke English.

When you fly to fight Cammy in Super Street Fighter 2 on Sega the stage was always England for Cammy

The majority of Americans are not Americans. They're Europeans that got rid of their accents.😂 This fits oddly well.

Since she’s a clone of Bison we don’t have a clue about her race since he’s kept “unknown” firmly in his bio for decades. I’d wager her quickly gaining the accent is some sort of blending mechanism planted by shadaloo

Up to Street Fighter II it was known he was from Thailand (in fact from Alpha to II it is his stage actually - With Brazil being added as the only other Shadaloo stage after). He is a reference to Kato from Doomed Megalopopolis. In the film he even gives his "Bisonopolis" speech! You can see "Bisonopolis" on the wall behind him as well! However - The story was changed to Bison having the ability to change bodies. His 'Bison' form was destroyed by Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu - And his current location is "Unknown". The reason his "Nationality" is "Unknown" is simply the fact that he is NOT "Human" and can jump bodies...

Maybe she can also come from the USSR by her blonde hair and by that pharse that she says in the ending of street fighter 6 that she says that the fight she leads against m. Bison is for all and that she is capable of survive very low and cole temperatures even without pants and for me sounded a little bit communist if you ask me. In the world warrior encyclopedia, says that she is from England

TL:DR (taken from personal knowledge of street fighter and cammy) Cammy is a clone of M.Bison. she was basically suppose to be a body for him in case he dies. Shadowloo would have M. Bison uploaded into Cammy's body. Cammy is also one of the dolls which means she acts robotically until she gains conscious of who is is by the help of Dhalsim. She eventuallys collapse after the defeat of M. Bison and was brought to MI6 in London which explains her accent. She also has no idea who she was orignally due to amnesia.

If i recall cirrectky, Cammy's SFA3 stage is set in Greece or something.

Yeah, in the English dubs it was due to casting error and/or laziness. It was the 90s lol.

I think she's an American spy sent to spy on the BBC and she found Monty Python Flying Circus and fell for the series and just decided yeah I like the Union Jack thing..

Actually Cammy ethnically is Russian/Spanish/English. Decapre is Russian and Cammy is a clone of her, with Bison's DNA spliced in , Hence the Spanish/English in her. Bison is allegedly of partial Spanish descent, hence his original name for him "VEGA". Cammy is a partial clone of Decapre and Bison/Vega.

On the Capcom licensed Jada Toys Street Fighter Car series, Cammy’s green camo Corvette has a Union Jack 🇬🇧 on the side, so I’d say from Capcom she is British.

Except she had a British accent in SF4 and in game she is from England. The anime having american accent is just a mistake. This is hardly evidence to suggest she was american

She's a clone, so it's more likely that her "genetic makeup" resembles Bison's. However, Bison has his 12 Bodyguards from each nationality (and named them the month of that language). Take Decapre into account - the "failed" Cammy. Her accent is Russia and identifies as Russian. It's reasonable to assume Bison just likes to differentiate his Dolls from each other.

In the SF2 movie, shes introduced in the briefing giving by Chun-Li as British and working for MI6. Even if she has an American accent, its entirely plausible for her to have been born in England, raised there for some time but immigrated to America. That would be explainable. Amusingly, this is known to happen in real life too.

She’s a Greek girl, basically a clone of a Russian (not sure if it’s European or Russian) girl Decapre. Of course, the only one who made her British was Vega (as in he left her body at Delta Red headquarters after Shadowlaw’s first base in Thailand exploded.).

It's not an American accent in the animation, mate. It's an American with a poor British accent. There's a difference.

The Animated Series is dubbed... It wasn't the original audio for the show! In the Animated Series she was voiced by Canadian voice actress Lisa Ann Beley. Dee Jay didn't have his Jamacian accent either - Being voiced by accalimed Canadian voice actor Paul Dobson! Both Lisa and Paul worked for the same agency!

I think you are overthinking. I suppose Ryu is actually a Californian and Fei Long is actually an American imitating a bad impression of Bruce Lee.

Considering the dub was originally put out by a company called Renegade Home Video and that I can find literally nothing about anything else they released, this may have been all they ever put out and couldn’t afford voice actors who could do accents other than “Texas” (oddly, that accent was for E Honda). So that’s why everyone seams to have a Standard American English accent you hear in commercials and news broadcasts. 😁

That lore wasn't invented until 4 years after this film was released, but she was British.

To be fair, everybody in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie and Street Fighter II V had American accents. Even DJ sounded like he was from the US, rather than sounding Jamaican like he's supposed to be.

Every English person is British. England is a part of Britain.

Her story was changed so many times depending on the medium. In the early games, she was Bison’s ex lover (Super SF2) Another iteration was she had amnesia but brainwashed into working for Bison (SF Anime Film) and in SF Alpha she was a clone created by Bison. Sadly for her, in every version, she’s tied to him somehow.

Birdie is my favorite u.k sf character as much as I love cammy his “ you gotta go home to mum now” is stuck in my head forever

I think animated, part 2 definitely is the best adaptation and my personal favorite. Part 5 is also right up their animated wise. However I think part 7-8 are Araki’s best work by far
