I've had my c5 for 4 months now and its bloody great, no issues and the clamp that you buy for it is rock solid on my desk, zero flex....all round it's an excellent wheel.

That design of the C5 lowers the inertia of the wheel. That's what makes it feel stronger despite lower power. It's a brilliant design, and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see copies from Fanatec and Moza in the next couple years. I've been arguing with myself for the last month over these two options (Moza is just out of my price range right now, and if I'm spending $1000 USD on a PC wheelbase, I'm going with Simagic Alpha Mini). Thank you for the video. I think I'm going to go with the Cammus. My rig won't support more than 5Nm (NLR GT-Lite), so I don't need the extra power, and don't want to shell out $800 on the Fanatec with the McLaren GT3 rim. Get an all-rounder DD now and improve my driving, then upgrade when I feel I need to start really competing on a higher level.

That’s a good choice 👍🏻 I wish this was around when I bought a G27 years ago, haha, but even after that I bought a Fanatec CSL Elite base and this C5 feels heaps better than that and actually costs less. I have been sick this week and so I have had a bit of time off and I have been sim racing for days at a time and I have just been on this C5 and especially on iracing driving stock cars I actually had to turn the power down.

I was actually thinking that it feel stronger cause the lever-effect of a bigger wheel. Thats why older cars without powersteering used to have giant steering wheels to be easier to turn. So Cammus if the motor puts out 5Nm, with its smaller diameter needs more force to turn. While a bigger wheel at the Fanatec needs less. I could be wrong.

Indeed, it's weaker than this wheel though. And the Cammus peaks higher than where even the 8nm holds.

pretty sure you can change the fan to any aftermarket 3 pin fan out there. which is great, and you dont have to open the insides just to MOD the cooling

I got a C5 shipped to the UK, 83$ for shipping, i can live with that.

Got my c5 last week. The power is super strong. My hand hurts after a lap at nordschleife. It is at least 3 times stronger than my g29. My cheap aluminium profile rig is flexing a lot especially at the wheel mounting plate since it uses thin metal plate😅😅. There is a settings called CF filter in the cammus software that adds details to the wheel. But it is causing a weird vibrations that starts at high frequency and goes to lower frequency as you drive faster in game. It is counter intuitive. If you put too much CF filter your wheel will become too noisy and your hand will become numb. If too less CF filter, you cannot feel the road and curb texture. I also noticed that every car needs different CF filter level. The wheel got really hot after a few laps at nordschleife at 100% power. The fan seems a bit too far from the vents and not doing much cooling. I am 3d printing a shroud to directs the air into one of the vents available. That said, i have not experienced power loss even with the hot motor. Ps: i only tried this wheel with assetto corsa.

The wheel should be at 100% force but in game it should be turned down a little for more detail and less clipping, like this I have not experienced the wheel getting hot it’s only slightly warm however I do have a video coming out running everything at 100% and giving the wheel a very hard time and it does get very hot but it shouldn’t get too hot under normal circumstances, might need to turn the force feedback down a little in game. I did think the same about the fan though. But I haven’t had a heating issue under normal circumstances.

@@JasonStorm Regarding the purchase / ordering the wheel. You have to factor one thing into the equation. Most resellers would like to sell you a set of wheel and pedals, thereby driving the price up, I just received an email from a vendor in Germany asking €399 for a set. So personally I think for the people only wanting the wheel and clamp, their pedals being complete rubbish, would be better of ordering directly @CAMMUS

The Cammus with the motor in the wheel is a no go for me, even if it’s a bit cheaper, went with the Fanatec

I was lucky enough to go Fanatec early since they were the only ones in the console game early on Xbox 360. Then I just had to upgrade individual parts along the way as I only raced on Xbox. Compatibility and upgradeability are major wins for the Fanatec “eco system”.

Yes I agree, game compatibility is generally better with fanatec because of market share, everyone have the games compatible out of the box (generally)

Possible Idea: Cammus made the paddle shifter small because u cant add a quick release so if the wheel snaps immedietly then it wont hurt you

Another thing: Ive got a 3d printed paddles for the C5 and it got surprisingly hard to grip the wheel in a natural way with the paddles getting in the way

Mean while on my 2007 Logitech driving force gt

I have cammus c5 the paddles brake all the time so keep making new ones with 3d printer. the paddle button broke they sending me parts to repair myself.

Shopping and taxes are added at the end of US purchases. We only see the pre-tax prices, where VAT is already included for EU prices.

I can't get past the $114 dollar shipping fee is why I'm not buying it right now unfortunately.

Same, I saved a little more money and bought the csl dd. Also bought a ebay power supply for 60 the get the 8nm. Also bought a moza desk mount because fanatecs is a joke. My total came to 520.00

Some care for the feel of things over just the looks and the price to performance of this makes it one hell of a wheel, especially for entry level. Either way, more companies in the market is better for us.
