Camino de Santiago - Day 30 - Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo - Camino Frances - June 2024

I returned to Spain in June 2024 with the intention of finally completing the Camino Frances route to Santiago de Compostella.
👣
This final trip would see me continue onwards from Ponferrada, where I ended my walk in August 2023.
👣
After a very long day of travelling, I arrived into a very wet and humid Ponferrada and finally made it to my albergue accommodation for the night.
👣
I then went to a nearby Italian restaurant for a delicious Lasagne and was back and in bed before 10pm.
👣
Although the room was generally quiet, we did have a restless lady who kept me awake throughout the night... a sideffect of having kids and hearing nearly every more they make at night.
👣
The morning welcomed a drier day, and I ventures out, not knowing how far I would go, and yet delighted to be back on the Camino once more!

Just watched - really good you're back at it - how do you prepare in the weeks leading up to your camino?

I prep by doing the little things... cut out as much sugar from my diet as I can, do little stretching and strengthening exercises for my ankles and calf muscles, and keep an eye on the weather patterns. I don't really walk long distances for 4 or 5 hours or anything as I don't have the time with a young family and work. With your hikes with the dog, you're probably as ready as you'll ever be to do it!
