Camera Gear for African Safari
Choosing proper Camera Gear for African Safari is of paramount importance. The choice of Camera Gear you carry depends on the taste and your preference of taking the images during African Safari. But in general it must have a telephoto lens for portrait shots and birds. A medium telephoto lens for action shots and a wide angle lens for landscapes and close subjects. An action camera like GoPro is also super useful.

Nice sir
Mr Vyss thanks for such as useful video. Thanks for the advice not changing lens so I will take my sony alpha 58 not weather sealed with 18-55mm to join my main camara a fuji Xt2 with fuji 70-300 (4-5.6) and teleconverter x2 .... By the way do you think is better the 1.4 X as lossing light by 2 steps with the 2X ? I jave not buy the teleconverter yet so you advice would be highly appreciated. Finally I will appreciate the custom template you mention. Thanks in advance and greeting from colombia south america Alberto

Hi. Thanks for your kind words. Glad that video helped you in planning your gears. From your comment I assume that you will be using 70-300 lens which has an aperture of 4 to 5.6. First, just check if this lens can take teleconverter. If yes then that means that if you use a 1.4x converter the maximum aperture size becomes 5.6 to 8, and if 2x is used it becomes 8 to 11. I do not think 8 to 11 will be useful at all. It would mean that image is twice deteriorated. One because of the additional glass. And two because of higher ISO you would need. If at all you are buying go for 1.4 x, but if you can avoid using teleconverter for this lens then it is best. As a rule of thumb, autofocus does not work properly if the maximum aperture size is less than f/ 8. (When lens focuses the aoerture opens up maximum, and then it is reduced in size upto what you have set when you press the shutter release) So even with 1.4x converter you will notice that your lens is hunting.

Thanks, great. Do Nikon d 7500 with 200- 500 will be o.k f 506 constant and 80-400 for tanzania safari?
@matrishva
Жыл бұрын
200-500 of Nikon is good lens and that focall length range will be enough. I don't think you will need 80-400 as it is just an another lens . If you do have another camera body then take a small lens may be 50 mm. It is not advisable to change lens in safari vehicle. You will end up getting too much dust on your sensor. As such Serengeti is very dusty.
Please send me a copy of the format of the custom forms. Very informative video. Thanks Doc. 👏👏👏

It was a good attempt specially as there are not too many videos from the Indians perspective , please, let me also know about the cost and best times for the safari in Africa and also send me the custom declaration form too.

send me your email id or mail me on matrishva@gmail.com I will send the form. Africa is all year destination. But avoid April and May due to heavy rains. July to October is best time to visit but the rates are high as it is peak season. Expect to pay around $2500 to $3000 for a week in Kenya. Botswana, South Africa, Namibia and Tanzania are costly.
Dear Sir, please send the format of the letter for the customs.

@@vaibhav8699 if you are a beginner and have less budget then I suggest go for Nikon Z50 camera and a Tamron Z series 70-300 lens. Next week I will post video on my experience using this combo in Africa. It should cist you less than 90000
