Doing it is better because it is more realistic, but you won't fail the test if you don't write your name.

I think Google is a better option to ask. There are a lot of websites where you can find useful information about English grammar.

what if you write a lot less than 100 words, like 30 or 50, will they mark the letter anyway?

They will always mark it, but if you write only 30 or 50 words, there is a good chance that you didn't address all the topic points in the task, so you will probably lose marks.

If you know how to use all of these grammatical forms and vocabulary, your English is probably too strong for B1 anyway. Why don't you challenge yourself and take the B2 exam?

I will definetely try to pass the first Exam. However, for me personelly, it's better to step by step.

Hello teacher Phill, I'm in my early fiftees and want to take part on an Cambridge B1 Exam. Your Video is clearly on the top about this topic. But in a few other Videos there is sugested However as a linking word. I wouldn't use it because of the dictionary which it's describing as a formal word. Would you agree?

I don't think that 'however' is too formal. Zou can use it in an informal email as well, but you can also think about other options. Also, in the B1 exam, the email isn't very long so just make sure that you write something about each of the four main points in the task.
