Replacing the cam shaft seal on my 96 convertible tracker. Had a major oil leak and this was the cause.

Great video. When u install seals like this only put oil on the ID of the seal. On the OD put “Bearing Mount” to prevent it from coming loose. Great job, your explanations are easy to follow.

Right now though it idles at about 2500 rpm. At higher rpm will you be able to tell if its off time like that? Going down the road it sounds smooth. But sitting it sounds rough. It idles so high I think because my alternator doesn't have a belt on it. It was shredded

Hey man, great vid. Do you remember what you think might have caused the timing to misalign? The camshaft turning a bit? Or the belt's teeth not put back on exactly? Maybe belt fell off crank gear below and got put back on differently? Im about to try this exact thing on my Toyota 😬

I think belt skipped over a little while I was trying to tighten it. Probably would have been a.good idea to have someone watch everything as I tightened it down.

Your car sounds like mine when you cranked it after your belt was put on the first time. I'm thinking mine may have jumped a tooth as well. Its got 200k miles on it and I don't know if belt has ever been changed on it.

If your gonna look into it check the lower pulley. The key way tends to go out and effect timing.

hello, why on minute 3:00 aprox, you turn the gear to the right and on 3:40 you turn the gear to the left?

I move the gear to the right in order to get the whole assembly to a point where I can put the screwdriver all the way though to stop the gear from spinning when I go left

Dude, you are supposed to press in seals, not hammer them in. You run the risk of the seal spring falling off. That seal bore seemed loose. You should have used some sort of sealant such as Locktite 510 flange sealent.

Thanks for the tips. I am just learning as I go. I didn't know loctite made a gasket sealent.

There should be a small dot on. The gear that you can use to line it back up with.

I dont know how mechanic you are and I dont know anything about honda motors but if you keep all the timing points lined up it shouldn't be to difficult. I think.
