Tip to everyone who does activities with a lot of spinal compression such as this: every week do exercises that build the muscles of the lower back. You can get very strong just by carrying packs etc, but will mot build the muscle enough to prevent injury in the future... Look up the following exercises: bodyweight reverse hyperextension, banded Good morning, parallel back extension, Romanian deadlift... If you do these exercises for 4 sets of 10-15 reps, you will do a lot to prevent wear an tear on the spine and ensure you can carry those heavy packs for decades to come. Cheers

I broke my back (T10,11 and 12) over 25 years ago while in the Army. Doctors said I'd probably have back surgery by the time I was 35. Well I'm 46 and my back is strong as a rock because of doing Good Mornings. I'd guess I'll probably never have back surgery. Point is it's good advice Clutch.

***** Thanks Brian. Glad to hear that you took a different road than surgery and it paid off. Good mornings build phenomenal back strength if done with correct technique.... I added in a lot of ab wheel and hollow holds to the mix as well with great results.

Clutch Barrett all those exercises are not necessary, all you need to do to strengthen you low back is barbell deadlift. Just focus on that lift and get as strong as you can.

Exhausting enough watching him carry it...
Carried 70lbs in 30*C heat over 2 miles in about 25 minutes, and loved it. But dont have a rock that big. :)

Damn you are an absolute BEAST!! That looks brutal as hell. Badass hardcore stuff man you did a great job. Get back on Rogan's podcast we want to see what's up with you cheers
Just to brag a bit... when I was a young guy like you I would put 150 pounds in my backpack and do a tough 6 mile hike in the mountains just to make sure I was ready for my Elk hunt with no stopping. It payed off when I downed one a mile from the truck. I was lucky it was down hill otherwise I'm sure I would have struggled. I packed the bull out in 2 trips including the head. I train year around for this... you're an animal!!! good video Cam!!!

Makes me wanna do it myself^^
If you're ever looking to donate one of your old bags, Cam, let a brother know. I've been using regular backpacks for a few years now, tearing through them an extra stone/brick at a time, baby.
