Tim didn’t sing any of the bass on this. That was all Chance holding down the bass part. If you listen close, you can hear Tim singing the 3rd tenor line/baritone throughout.

@Wendi you’re correct. You can hear Tim sing down to E1 in “Folsom Prison Blues” and up to B4 area in this one and in their Christmas song “Snow Globe”. Then of course Geoff sings about 4 1/2 octaves in the final 10 seconds of “Oogie Boogie Song”. They’re both amazingly talented as well as being friends who collaborate with each other (see Voiceplay’s “Just Sing”.

Chance was the bass singer for another group before he replaced Chris Rupp and joined Home free. Chris has a good voice (sitting in the tenor-baritone range) but, while I enjoy his singing, I personally feel that Chance gives HF more versatility, not least because he can very ably cover the bass line if Tim heads for the rafters. That said, Tim and Chris recently collaborated on “Long Black Train”, which is worth a look - they recorded it as an overdubbed a capella duet.

Someone else may have already commented this. Adam Chance was in a different acapella group before joining Home Free. He was their bass. And as you now can see, he's more than up to that task. Any time you hear two basses with Home Free, you really are hearing two basses. No double tracking necessary.

Adam Chance "Chance" sang bass for Street Corner Symphony. He joined HF to fill Chris Rupp's role (gulp! replace an original member?) as the baritone. One of his requests was to be allowed to sing bass on occasion. That skill allows Tim to do what he does here. Home Fries get a treat.

Hi Christi, Its Dave Again. Sorry for the typo's. I have been "Loopified" (Dirty Loops) and "Home Fried" . ( Home Free). I love both bands a great deal. Dirty Loops are a trio from Sweden, Keys ,Bass and Drums. They are produced by Quincy Jones, who claims the singer Jonah Nillson, (amazing keyboard player) , has the widest vocal range he's ever heard. ( I agree) So much for M.J. and Stevie Wonder. The Drummer and bass player are also the best I've ever heard! The band does the same thing Home Free does. It takes cover songs and "Loopifies" them. Like Home Free, their versions are amazing and way more fun! They also write amazing originals. . In my day, I've opened for a lot of great bands. ( Doobie Bros., Tower of Power, Average White Band, Levon Helm and other great bands from that era.) These two bands have managed to outshine all of those bands and yes, I've cryed over both Bands and they both have re-awakened my passion for Music ! Again, check out Tim's "If You Still love me" and look up some Jonah Nillson. Amazing singer! Thanks for your time. Thanks again for your great reactions! Dave G.

Tim's range is 6 octaves. He can hit & sustain falsetto down to a E1b. He has worked with Geoff Castellucci (4-5 octave range) and Avi Kaplan (also a 4-5 octave range) to help them learn to sustain the low growls without hurting their voices. Geoff now does videos on YT to help others do the same. Chance is a bass from another group, but he normally is comfortable in baritone range. In this song Chance did the bass levels & Tim stayed in the tenor range to fill it out with Rob. They wanted to showcase their versatility.

Now that you have done "Mayday" plus a number of other excellent Home Free videos, I respectfully suggest that you consider their cover of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's "Helplessly Hoping" for your Home Free short-list. Hello Voice Love!! Have you ever heard of Gustavo Cerati? He was the frontman (voice, lead guitar, songwriter) for what is considered the greatest latin rock band of all time- Soda Stereo. When he died in 2014 (after a 4 year coma), Argentina declared 2 days of mourning. People came from all over latin america to fill the streets of Buenos Aires (in the rain). He was like John Lennon and Freddy Mercury rolled into one. He collaborated with Shakira, the Police, and other great artists. Recently Cirque De Solei created a show for Soda Stereo, joining only Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and other superstars. If you do a reaction, i suggest you start with Soda Stere's "profugos" from the live 2007 "Gira Me Veras Volver" tour. Cerati's tenor voice was something to behold. People throw accolades at Luis Miguel for his voice, wair till you hear Gustavo Cerati sing, its quite shocking that many people still dont know who he is...

Before joining Home Free, Chance was the bass in another a cappella group called Street Corner Symphony. He has a 4 octave range, and his addition to the group has really opened things up for them. He and Tim can switch off on bass, letting Tim sing more in his upper register. Great reaction!

Christi, You are by far the best reactor on the Tube! I've been a musician for 50 years and I love your passion for the music you react to. I have shed a tear or ten over Dirty Loops songs (Nessun Dorma, American Pie (a lot of tears) and a lot of your reactions. (Mary Did you Know really got me.) (have you done that song?) If want to hear Tim's real range, check out his cover of Will You still love Me Tomorrow. He's an Alien you know. Thanks for your great work!

The section before and after the bridge is my favourite part. Before - so many layers! Then the beatboxer Adam Rupp killing it! After - my favourite voice Adam Chance going doooown! Adam Chance keeps pretty quiet of his talents and lets Tim have the limelight, but his range is very impressive as well. He actually sings the bass here through the whole song. Looking forward to more Home Free reactions!

Hi Christi , my suggestion for a reaction is the Home Free cover of " My Church ".. Home Free takes us to church with a very country flavor ... also " Helplessly Hoping" a CSN cover , I am sure you would enjoy it ... Keep up the great reactions and analysis ...

If you haven't already, if you really want to hear Tim's range he has one or two videos where he does all the voices. Shocking how talented he is. But they all are amazing.

So this was only the second song they did after Chance joined, replacing Chris Rupp. Now Chris Rupp has a pretty high voice so Tim was the only person in Home Free that could sing low. When Chance joined, it freed Tim up so he could do other things. This video was done to show off what they could do that most people didn't know.

That was a Great React video (breakdown, chat and pauses). I reacted to Home Free much like you did, with movement (couldn’t help it). They have a way of lighting up your brain and emotions with pure amazement and joy. I stayed engaged during the vid because you were engaged in everything about HF’s music. It didn’t feel like someone doing a react video just because they were told to by their followers. Yours felt like you wanted to and that makes a difference to the audience who made the suggestion. Just wanted to let you know… well done and thank you.

This was a really special one!! The way the guys share parts is so unique to Homefree, I've never known *multiple* guys in the same group working together all with such amazing ranges... And more than one bass ☺️ to make me go all knee knockingly goosey 😅🥴

This gives me chills. Tim's high notes, Chance's low low notes, Adam's awesome sounds together with Rob who's sooo smooth and well Austin... I'm going to bed with his Mayday Mayday in my head and waking up the same. I love your reaction, I'm not a singer and I just know instinctively that to me this sounds great. You tell me why & after listening to lots of voice coach reactions I am beginning to hear much more in the songs. Thank you. Love it.

Wonderful reaction! Helplessly Hoping and How Great Thou Art have beautiful harmonies and the beatboxer sings in both. Also, Austin Brown, the high tenor, has a few individual songs out on his KZread channel, some he wrote and some are covers. His latest release was Unchained Melody sung like you’ve never heard, and it went viral! It is the best version I’ve ever heard! Thank you for your reaction, new sub.

Austin also does a great job in their new release of "When A Man Loves A Woman". The original artist who sang this is from way back and his name was Percy Sledge. A classic! Tim and Peter Hollens have combined to do "Misty Mountains", " Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and "Sounds of Silence" all done so well as Peter's production is first class and he has his own Patreon channel. Peter and Home Free did a great collaboration with 350 Home Free Patreon followers as the chorus background that was just awesome! How about that production nightmare! Love your reactions and breakdowns!

It's great that they got Chance, who used to sing bass in another group, when Chris left. He takes the bass line whenever Tim takes the lead on a song. If you really to hear Tim's range, check out his solo Doo Wop album where he lays down ALL the tracks. There are 12 songs on it and three of them have videos on his solo channel (Tim Foust) - Come Go With Me; Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay; and In My Room.

I believe there is an overlooked component in all of the Home Free videos > Immaculate editing. It may not be the best example I can suggest, but it is the most obvious one... Please check out "Meet in the Middle".
