High is so underrated. I feel like, no, I KNOW that it's one of the most beautiful songs 5SOS has ever written, the way it's building up but then goes back down into just the acoustic guitar and Luke's voice.. also, the chords are so beautiful and unpredictable.

That's interesting because I never saw it that way. Since the man was in a business suit I always interpreted it as people having carreers that they hate and that's why he was on fire. I thought it was a symbolism of how the boys took that risk to pursue their happiness.

@@mikewheeler9681 hi im a little late (and of course i cant find it rn) but luke himself said somewhere that a lot of the songs were based around in his personal life/current relationship!! theres also songs he's explicity discussed (best years, lover of mine, not in the same way, teeth, high) in interviews (theres a papermag one where he discusses the first 3, and he's talked about writing most of High). he also wrote on 11/13 songs on the album (im not saying he wrote them entirely but hes had a big hand in the lyrics of yb/calm/5sos5 for sure, some of the themes moreso for calm/yb also just aligned with things that had happened w/ him publicly)

The quarentine content that we got from these boys (the album, the zoom calls, the carbloke) all the while both Ashton and Luke were making solo albums, and they were working on new stuff. These boys never stop

ashton on twitter explaining the man on fire:' "the businessman on fire represents the record business side of things that we've dealt with behind the scenes. It's a pink floyd reference as well"

Just a warning, when you listen to "When facing the things we turn away from", keep in mind to be in a good mental state and bring tissues. Ashton's and Luke's solo albums are both so beautiful and so original, and I adore them. Good luck to you

ok but like: 'i only light up when cameras a flashing' - michael taking pictures (the flash light of the camera) after the serious accident for views 'never enough with no satisfaction' - calum with his picture perfect family 'digging my grave to get a reaction' - luke faking his death for attention 'changing my face and calling it fashion' - ashton and the other man both being plastic surgeons 'got not shame, i love the way you're screaming my name' - the whole video being a satirical media to show the inhumane addiction to attention and the concept of being socially accepted to feel successful.. i found this out a long time ago and it still amazes me

you should check out the “live from the vault” versions of easier, teeth, and no shame. i loveee the easier one even more than the studio one. i like the others too but the studio version of easier wasn’t my favorite (i like it but something was off to me idk) and the live from the vault version is like one of their top songs for me. and it feels more like 5sos but maybe thats just me

Luke’s solo album is honestly one of the greatest albums to have ever been made. It’s a true masterpiece!

CALM is my fave!! it truly got me through the early days of the pandemic! not in the same way & teeth are two of my faves but it’s so hard to pick bc i love them all for different reasons!! excited for you to check out luke & ashton’s solo stuff :))

What I love 5 seconds of summer is that from "Heartbreak girl" to "wildflower" they involved soo much none of the albums sound the same but at the same time they have structure if that makes sense And guuurrrlll get ready for Ashton and Luke's solo albums

The thing I love the most about the old me music video is the leads to them performing at the firefighters Australia concert ( we see it at the end ) which was such an important moment for them and Big moment in their career Everyone who watched it on TV or was there said that they were one of the best performances that day

This album is heartbreaking but insanely therapeutic at the same time... it's also really interesting to listen to this and then Luke's solo album back to back because you see the common themes and then you also get closure finally. Also, light at the end of the tunnel: Luke and his gf got engaged earlier this year (sometime spring or summer 2021 I think) so they've at least finally gotten through the "will we make it or won't we" stuff, and that's wonderful to see. 🖤🖤🖤

This is bar-none my fav album of all time. It's so incredibly special to me and it said so much that I needed to hear at the time it came out. 🥺🥰 I listened to it at least once a day (usually more like 5 times a day lmao) every day for like 7 months when it came out and would listen to it every night before I went to sleep. I still listen to it frequently. It's everything to me and then some!! The guys really came at us with a whole-ass masterpiece made up of 12 little masterpieces (13 with Kill My Mind) and gave us a whole story with connecting lyrics and more sonic variety than we could shake a stick at and more next-level Luke vocals and absolutely incredible production. This album is perfection and I WILL fight anyone who says otherwise lmao. It deserved so much more than it got. 💔

i think "kill my time" is the start of that toxic relationship and there was always another guy as her option. maybe that's why he's so afraid that she will leave cause there's a another guy she can be with. other songs describe the relationship in detail and "high" explains that she ended the relationship and left maybe with her friends' advices to be with the other guy.
