Calls grow for Labor’s $300 energy bill rebate to be means-tested
Australian rich-listers are criticising the Albanese government’s $300 energy bill rebate.
The rebate was announced in Tuesday night’s budget in a bid to help all Australians with energy prices.
However, calls are growing for the scheme to be means-tested to ensure the money only goes to households in need of support.

How bout stopping the power companies from gouging rather than a tax payer funded rebate.
Meanwhile the digital ID bill gets sneeked through parliament while everyone is looking the other way at the 'budget' and this rebate nonsense..........

So they stole $1000’s of my money when they lied on Stage 3, and now billionaires are saying I shouldn’t get $300 of my own money back.
More than A$300,000,000 will be wasted on: 1. Foreign real estate investors 2. More than 2.2 million temporary visa holders with working rights 3. 600,000 tourists Government must not spend our money on foreigners. Wasteful mediocre and incompetent is my verdict re Labor. ✈💶💷💸💴💵💶💷💸💵💶💷💸💵💸💴💶

Its too hard to means test. How do you test each houshold of there wealth. Some may be shared houses with 3 unrelated people.

yep, all you need to do is get granny to pay the power bill, and reimburse her in cash
It will cost $400 per assessment.
Every states has delivered the electric bills package so I don’t think Federal gov needs to do the same. Put more money into Rent fee relief package for low and medium income families and small businesses might more make sense. Also put more money relief to all our farmers for their cost of production and transportation more make sense too. 😌
I receive a pension but i dont need it or want it.
